Went to Mishkin's on Sunday afternoon - it was very quiet, us two and one more table of two. Four members of staff on duty bur never ever in my life I have experienced so unpleasant and unfriendly staff. Bit like I am too cool to actually work here. We got our drinks order and food order, but that was it, not a other drink was offered to us or even checked on us if we are happy with food. Staff was busy pretend they busy - on their iphones, picking on the food in the small open kitchen, licking their fingers and picking on more food. The land line was constantly ringing - but the staff is probably to cool to even answer it. Must be an experience to book a table.
Myself and my boyfriend we both work in hospitality and we eat out quite a bit, but we have never experienced such a revolting service before. We were rushing to go - this much unpleasant the experience was, we asked for bill, but we waited another 5minutes even tough the PDQ was just opposite our table and no other customers were paying in the moment. At the end we just started packing our staff - this was when we get the attention of the staff and we finally managed to paid our bill.
Food was good, not amazing. Portion are very small considering that the food they serve is very cheap (4 small pieces of herring and bit of beets for £7 is seriously overpriced). The chopped liver is very good. There is nothing bad to say about the food, just maybe the sauerkraut is very poor - should be crunchy and sour not boiled like soft with not much taste
I have never ever met so many ignorant people in one room. Will not come back. Sorry.

Where is the meat?

Two wafer-thin slices of meat – and you're calling this a Reuben.
It's more sauerkraut than meat. And it's more bread than anything else.
If I wanted a loaf of bread, I would have gone to a bakery.
Are you joking?
Marks and Spencer makes pre-packed Ham sandwiches with more meat than this thing!
I've never seen such a stingy sandwich, let alone a Reuben.
A place like this would be laughed out of existence in New York, New Jersey – or any state in America for that matter.

Shame on you Mishkin's

What a let down... I will never return again.

This has the New York vibe and decor (I am quite critical when people try to the New York feel and fail). The food is SO delicious. I shared a mac and cheese and 3 meatballs (lamb and pistachio).Amazing. The meatballs had such good flavour and texture. The staff were really friendly. The malt shakes are simply RIDICULOUS! We tried the strawberry and the vanilla. Basically amazing food, drinks and very buzzy. Book if you can to avoid disappointment as it is a place to chat over good food and drink. Our table took about 15 minutes longer to wait for than we had booked but you can grab a drink at the bar. Not a wide range of beers at the moment but they have only been open for about 2/3 weeks so maybe that will change.I have not been so impressed or excited about a restaurant in a while. Hopefully they will stick to the formula they have started with as it is spot on.

Hip and happening with good looking staff and Russell Norman in attendance, this place (alongside nearby Opera Tavern) can rescue Covent Garden from coach party feeding-trough hell.
The decor is as you would expect from this achingly happening mini chain - expensively distressed and stripped back but this added to the casual, buzzy vibe and suited the food perfectly.
Oh and the food - comforting plates of deliciousness. Take an appetite as everything we ordered was divine from the Duck Hash to the Big Apple Hotdog to the baby gem salad and fries.
I really couldn't fault the experience - only one minor niggle - we were asked by four different staff members while we were eating, if everything was ok - gotta love good service, especially in rude-as-hell London but that was a little over the top.
Richard Bacon turned up the lunchtime we were there but don't let that put you off...

Obviously not Kosher if Richard Bacon is on the menu but another succesful, blogger friendly pastiche from the crafty mind of Norman Russell
