Monty of Monty's Tandoori is a king among men. Managing to strike the balance between flock and scumble-glaze, between Fullers and fusion with the skill only an Ealington can, he has created what is, and forever shall be, the paragon of curry houses.

There's proper chefing without the pretension of stripped-pine-chairs and 'fusion', he combines traditional dishes with the Anglo-Asian 'classics' like Korma and Madras effortlessly - nothing that comes out of the kitchen is bog-standard, yet nothing is intimidating either.

It does get darned crowded though (ask anyone between Acton and West Ealing where they get curry and you'll see why) so you need to book - and my hot tip would be mention you don't want to be near a door or you might end up with a constant breeze and the wonderful scent of fags and beer from the post-pub takeaway clientelle. Oh, and order the bhindi bhaji. Go on ... you know you want to...

I have visited Monty's many times over the years with my friend Arnold.

He is a wise chap, of a few more years than me- 'quite a few, my boy' he might say and he's right, but he, in his wisdom likes Monty's and visits it often with his wife, so it must be good.

And neither of us have been disappointed over the years with the choice. Good tasty food, well presented and worth the trip from the wilds of Greenwich south London.

In fact, it must be time for another one soon!Great place, well worth a visit!!
