I went to Mosaique last Saturday and was pleasantly surprised that the majority of the earlier reviews were pretty spot on. I had a slight disaster booking another restaurant, i.e. it wasn’t open on the weekend (?) but there was no problem with booking a table for 5.

Mosaique, although north of Chancery Lane, is pretty much off the beaten path with the restaurant’s outside tatty sign giving the impression that it’s a dive. However when you walk in you’re serenaded with relaxing piano music and a warm and welcoming décor. I had a good meal for the price I paid, copious amounts of the house red and my friends all remarked on the great evening they had.

Additionally, because it’s quite secluded it’s not too busy (even though it’s quite small) and you don’t get bustled off your table after two hours like some places. I will definitely keep this place in mind for a cheap (depending on how wine you drink) and cheerful night.

The only slight downside was that the staff, although attentive when you actually got their attention, seemed to have a constant look of concern on their faces that we wanted to rob the place. But after a few drinks this was more amusing than anything else.

Mosaique Restaurant and Piano Bar is great for a romantic evening meal. We had some delicious food and felt really looked after by the staff.

If you’ve got someone special to take then head for Mosaique.
