Picture this: you're sat at your table having a good time with the girls when all of a sudden the bar staff come over, take away your drinks and order you to all get up. On asking what on earth is going on and explaining you have the table booked for the night they reply, "Yea? Well someone's just put £5000 down so you've gotta move."

A word of warning for the ladies thinking of going to Movida: if you have any kind of feelings towards equality and morality, spend your night elsewhere. You WILL be treated as fodder for the men, and the kind of men who reside here will treat you as nothing more than a prostitute. In fact, some girls from my group were grabbed by management, walked over into a booth full of men and left there to 'entertain'.

If you're into pretending to be richer than you are, more important than you are and have no issues with allowing men to grope you in exchange for free drinks this will be your scene.

Surprised at the negative reviews - actually we found that the staff at tthe door and inside were incredibly polite to us. But did see a few people trying to push in at the front then get angry with the door staff. Used Capital A List to get in and even got some free drinks at their table. Club did get a bit packed in the main room later in the night, so we moved to the smaller room. Most of the guests seemed generally cool and enjoying the night.

The guys behind the bar and the glass collectors are friendly but this is vastly overshadowed by the attitude of the management and door staff, the drink prices, and the sheer amount racism (I had 2 blacks friends out of a large group who were the only 2 rejected despite looking the best).

I got kicked off a table I had booked just because we stopped buying bottles of Vodka. If someone's already bought 3 bottles in 2 hours you would think you'd be treat nicely instead of being kicked off. Oh, and after 30 minutes of waiting we just gave up trying to call over someone to take our drinks order and instead ordered from the bar.

Do yourself a favour and go to somewhere like Bond/24 or Maddox instead, far superior in every aspect.

What a terrible place! Movida must be the worst club in London! Movida pretends to be some "A" list venue when all it is, is a dressed up club for chavs and failed models!

I went there with a few friends, spent £5k on our table and we were surrounded by fake people! The staff are rude, the service is terrible, the crowd is pretentious and the Dj just shouts on the mic all night long! If you want class stay well away from this place!

To be honest the only good thing about this club is the decor!

If your classy and want to spend money enjoying yourself.....go somewhere else! This is a club full of people snorting drugs in the toilets and old men abusing drunk eastern european women!

We got on Capital A List guestlist and these guys know how to put on a party. Thanks Dan (can;t remember the other guys names ;) Wow Movida is just unreal - we were a big group of Kent girls who came over for a birthday party - never been to such a fancy club before! Really big club and the music was ace. Think its a really exclusive place tho - saw a group not get in at the door - they we’re trying to blag there way in by saying they were on someone’s guestlist who wasnt there! Also, u need to be properly dressed up - its like models and celebs inside. Will b going back for sure. Katie xx

Movida is a perfect option if you require a club venue via private hire for a special exclusive hire or corporate event however as a regular club the service conditions are extremely poor.

Only visit this club if you appreciate:
Having to queue to spend extortionate cash on toxic spirits;
Being ignored by obnoxious middleAged failed models holding clipboards freezing their saggy derrières at the door;
Strange characters seemingly just standing or floating around alone possibly seeking a victim
High levels if tin Treble, absent or minimal bass or pedestrian music
Table spends of a grand upwards whilst still in receipt of unacceptably rude snobby service
Poor management
Insanely non flexible security
Ridiculously shallow petty non intelligent promoters
Lots of drag queen esque make-up, fake nails, fake hair, and general fakes
Being treated like your hard earned cash is not worthy of a place that won't survive without shabby chavvy celeb led PR

This place couldn't be any worse.

Firstly, my girlfriend tripped down the first flight of stairs (at 10pm so not drunk!) and whilst holding her down the second set, I was ordered to stand to the right, when I tried to explain that she had just fallen, I was shouted at again.

Then, we were told by the first clipboard lady at the entrance that it was £20 for the guys and the girl was free. At the payment booth I was demanded to pay £40 (which I though was for me and my male colleague). but when my girlfriend got asked to pay I went back up to the box and said "excuse me, we were....." before I was once again shouted at and told to go downstairs "NOW"!

Bought a bottle of gin (as it worked out cheaper than buying idividuals) and even after £250 down then still charged us £2 each time we wanted a tonic.

Topped off by arrogant customers, waitresses parading sparkling champagne around, crap music that's so lound you cant even go the back bar to get away from it, a tiny dancefloor and narrow isles this truely was the worst evening I've ever had.

Well after what happened last night at Merah club, I must give the 5 stars to Movida, I went there many times and I never had a bad experience with the staff at the door, the music is amazing ( last time I was a little bit disappointed the DJ played a kind of "rock" house music, boring) But inside the venue is impressive, good music, the waiters are so classy , even if its busy, they remain focused and smiling( its a shame to call them waiters, they are dressed up in black suit, and smart looking), just go up on the podium, and dance!

Absolutely terrible place. To start with to call the staff rude and unpleasant would be an understatement. This place has an extremely arrogant attitude about it (for example the DJ shouting "movida! movida!" in the middle of songs) and full of pervy old men in suits who look at you as if you've just stepped on their feet. Oh and £10 for a shot as well FYI.
I would heavily recommend any other club in London. Do yourself a massive favour and never go there! Ever!

My Fellow Americans: Stay away from this club! Real night clubs in vegas do not charge you to wait in line. In vegas drinks are free and you do not wait or pay to get in. I've gone to Paris Hilton Bday Party, Kim K's party, and P Diddy's pool party!! So much better!

What I have learned about London is if you are smart you never have to pay cover or wait. I called ahead and spoke to the Table Manager who assured my sister and I would get in and not have to wait. He told me to go talk to Michelle at the front in a text message. Michelle is a large russian blonde woman who is thin with a not so attractive face. I have never felt someone eye me up and down and completely judge me. I am an attractive girl and I looked good. After her preliminary scan I waited 5 mins before they told me a I had to wait a little longer. My sister and I left and went to a different venue.

This place they let odd looking men and really attractive girls but they make everyone wait to get in. If this is me I do not like to waste my time out in the cold and then when I get in all the men are with their gfs or creepy!!

Go to Coven Gardens or Fabric a MUCH better time. In fact just go to vegas that is the real party scene!

My fellow Brits! As much as agree, Movida is not the best club in London, verging towards pretentious, over priced, tourist trap. Lets never, ever support a review like this. Anyone who knows the London club scene would not be seen in Covent Garden clubbing...You can always spot the quality of a reviewer when they, and I quote have been to "Paris Hilton Bday Party, Kim K's party, and P Diddy's pool party". WOW, im sooooooooooo impressed.....

They then talk about not liking being looked up and down (judged) by Michelle (isnt this what door staff do?) on the door, and then go on to say how attractive they are and Michelle is not, nice, a real quality comment by a real nice lady...

Finally, your in London, not vegas, its different, the clues in the country..And lets not lie about the no Q'ing and not paying for drinks in vegas, really, realllllly?

£10 just for a shot...(on a wednesday!), everything else is a considerable amount more. music was bad dont even know what genre it was tbh. had free guestlist sorted for my 21st - when got there they tried to charge us £20 and we had to wait outside for ages while they looked in the air deciding whether to let us in...nowhere to dance..promised free drinks by a promoter which we waited an hour for and never got. went straight back to bar rumba which was a million times better and made the night - even threw in a bottle of bubbly - know how to treat their guests properly i'd say!

I went to Movida on a Thursday night back in July '10 with a few friends for the first time. We're all reasonably good looking, young (all 18 and students) and were well dressed, so we all got in fine - in fact, we were literally pushed to the front of the queue and got in within seconds. £20 for male entry was a bit steep, but hey - 'twas my first experience of a Mayfair club so I though I'd give it a shot. Plus, we were on the guestlist and had a free table booked with plenty of free drinks on it!

My thoughts? Full of incredibly superficial, greasy old men clad in suits, watching us students dance away on the VIP dancefloor, by plastic blondes with boobjobs and the lot. Music was standard - what you'd expect in our SU bar. The atmosphere is very tense, the bouncers by the VIP dancefloor kept on having arguments with us etc etc....

Not recommended at all if you want to relax and have a fun time.

Had a fun night at Movida on Saturday night...
arrived at 10.45 , did not get in until 11.15 ( so was a long wait in the cold in a queue)
when we got in (8 girls) we found the atmosphere slightly intense but the club is really beautiful and the decor is lovely
by 12.30 we'd had a few drinks, taken a few photos and danced abit... we were slightly worried that the atmosphere still hadnt really picked up
by 1.30 the atmosphere was buzzing, the music was catchy and everyone was up for having a really great time
by 2.45- by taxi was there to pick me up, I didnt want to leave- was dancing on tables, downing drinks and having a laugh.
great night, pretty big club, buzzing with atmosphere, dress to impress!

Awful place. The location and decor are good but thats about it. Drinks are overpriced- about £150 for a bottle of russian standard vodka. The staff are the rudest I have ever come across- several people at the door were told to "go away its a private party" (none of our group- though one of our friends was refused entry until he removed his tie).

I tried to request a song for my friends birthday and was told to come back later on 3 separate occasions. When I turned around to complain to my boyfriend he saw the member of staff in question stick her middle finger up at me behind my back. Clientele are awful as well- saw people smashing their glasses on the floor when they has finished drinks and a bunch of guys tried to push us of the platform we were dancing on.
Long wait to get our coats returned as the cloakroom staff serve the regulars first, despite there being a queue.
Will definitely not be coming back.

Movida and I have a long history. I used to run events there when it first opened. However I had not been for a while so went last week-curious to see how it had aged. Clearly a lot worse than I have, judging by this visit.

The venue and the space are lovely-they always were but instead of creating a delicious playground for customers and mixing some creativity with glamour, the design is tacky, cheap, nasty and like a circa 1990s bingo hall and not in an ironic or kitch way-just in a tasteless, tragic way.

There is zero atmosphere or warmth about the place. It is not achingly hip and cool so you feel special even if everyone is a tad snooty. This is a place where women are little more than cheap fodder who ensure their wares are available for a bottle of fizz for any sleazy guy in a jacket who wants it. I did wonder if the girls I saw had any self respect at all, or even cared about the 50 years women have battled to achieve an even playing field. Movida stuffs its pen full of silly, super young women then lets the gelled up bulls into the pen to play-the result is a nasty, soulless bloodbath.

I left that miserable vacuum because London is a vibrant city full of wonderful places, interesting people and delicious happenings. Movida is the antithesis of this. The best thing about Movida-leaving it.

Worst club in London, I’ve to most of the top clubs in London including Whisky Mist, Jalouse, China White, 24 Kingly Street, and they are better by a long shot. The bouncers and staff at the door ignore you until they feel they are ready to even look at you. Are they taught to do this??

The blonde girl at the door hiding behind her clipboard is a joke. A famous Italian diamond Jeweler hired the venue for his amazing diamond fashion show, he went outside momentarily and she wouldn’t let him back in. I came outside and saw what was going on and she was flicking through her papers asking him what list he was on, poor guy only speaks Italian so I had to inform her that he is the Jeweler, he doesn’t need a list!! Why doesn’t she know who her biggest customer is?

Mo*vida’s management seriously needs to reconsider who they employ to represent their business to their customers.

On a slightly better note, the bar staff however are friendly although they need more two people (on a Thursday night). I have to say the washroom attendants are the best staff in the whole venue! The general décor with TV screens in the wall is quite nice but nothing spectacular. The venue is rather small, but this is probably because the layout of tables and sofas is poorly planned. Drinks are expensive and only go if you don’t mind clubbing with students. The place is full of them. Its H&M central.

I can only imaging View London rated them so highly because the staff were on their best behavior when they visited.

The Worst club that I have ever been to, and never actually got in! We were on the guestlist, which in terms counts for nothing. Do not even bother doing this because as soon as you arrive, if they do not like the look of you then your not going in and will make an excuse to make sure u don't come in. Do not try and go in if you are more than two guys on your own - wont happen. Some of our girl friends arrived after us. So we waited for them to come as they wouldn't let us in without girls. When they arrived, the bouncers did not believe they were our friends. So he let them through but held us back, which I thought was a bit strange at the time but thought might be the norm here. Then the lady with the clipboard, then said "those girls said they are not with you" and told us to go away. I could not believe that she lied to us so blatantly! After this it left a foul taste in my mouth but no one there seemed to care. So after we contacted our gf's they came back out and we all went to Whisky Mist, which I will always choose now after this experience. What a shame Movida, but you probably don't care n e way!

I am also surprised about the reviews here. I have friends you were given the same treatment. Table was confirmed...turned up on the night but only to be told that the table was given to a member. They door personnel were very rude, and unhelpful in trying resolve the situation. This is despite the fact they were going to spend £1,500 on the nite. Their night was ruined and it was the night from hell for them! They also think that they were very racist!

That is how you treat your potential customers. They should go back to basics in customer relations. Will be starting a group on Facebook soon to publicise their handling of the situation. Watch the space

Just spent Friday and Saturday night in the club as the two girls I went with loved it so much.
Yes it is expensive £35 for 2 cocktails and a beer and £200 for a bottle of vodka and mixers but if your budget isn't so tight then there's no problem :)
Why I will go back again is the service levels, from the very 'efficient' girl at the door, polite and helpful, yes helpful, bouncers and the waiters/waitresses were amazing, always seemed to be one around when needed and there was never an empty glass for more than a few seconds.
Franklin, our waiter the first night was a legend, moved us to better tables during the night as the bar rooms got quieter and the club room busier.
He seemed genuinely suprised when I tipped him at the end of the night and he arranged everything for us to come back on Saturday at the same table.
The music was excelent with a good mix throughout the night and the decor inside is amazing, although not to everyones taste.
Seeing a crowd of people genuinely enjoying themselves, dancing on the chairs and tables, not much attitude and all very friendly added to the nights.
I don't go top end very often, but I didn't mind spending my money in here and certainly will again.
Thanks for a top weekend Mo'Vida.

Love this place

Easy to get the club, Just have to pull up outside (was annoying while they were doing road works).

The decoration is a bit bright and colourful for my liking but it still has the wow factor, more so than any other club in London in my opinion.

In the club the crowd is very nice a good mix of people from all over the world.

The tables in the main room are on the small side, however there is plenty of space in the VIP. The table service is amazing with the waiters and waitresses checking up on us all the time.

The bouncers were also very pleasant, and looked after us.

Great Memories from a Great Club.

I had a really good night but I couldn't understand why they set out the seating in such a weird way. The proper vip (dom Pérignon room) was empty when I went, the other unusually large vip area seemed to be in the middle of the club, leaving just a space the size of a corridor around the edges. It seems pointless paying £500 for a table outside of vip because they are placed around the edge of the club with no access to the action. I would've put up the £1000+ but the vip looks exactly the same as the regular area. I was looking forward a great night in sumptious surroundings but instead was kind of let down. On the plus side the crowd was nice, music very good and I love the fact you can dance on the chairs and tables. I will go back but only with a large group of friends so we can use the Dom Pérignon vip room, the other vip in the middle is a clear waste of money and the non-vip tables around the edge make you feel like some kind of peasant :)

I visited Movida last night with a girlfriend and wasn't overly impressed. It's certainly no Mahiki. The doorstaff were great and got us in for free but once we got in there it went downhill a bit. The music was very hit and miss and the entire main room reeked like the men's toilets - not pleasant. It was very over crowded the Friday night we went. We could not dance comfortably in the main room where they were playing some good R&B tracks and other types of music. We stayed in the bar section outside the main room and the music there was ok....The crowd is early twenties, urban types. Would not go back there in a rush. Looks very nice inside though.

What a waste of time.

Went to movida as it had been recommended by taxi drivers and everyone we spoke to after going to some appalling clubs previously.

We joined the queue at about 2 30 which was a big queue but at least 50 people pushed in front of us climbing over the barriers. We were completely ignored as we werent in the 'guestlist' queue.

Typical 'guestlist' people pushed past us and we were pushed further and further back in the queue.

The woman bouncer (who was very nice) kept telling us that we'd be in when the club emptied as it was full. We waited for at least an hour in a queue as we were looked down on by stuck up people in front of us who simply flirted their way through.

What a joke, we were then told after an hour that the club would not be free of space anytime soon so we should go.

Great, an hour wasted standing in 7 inch heels, Thanks Movida.

Why is this place in all the papers and magazines every week with celebs stumbling out the door into their waiting cabs?

Because it's somewhere for them to go where they can be adored, drooled on, and bask in their own self satisfied arrogance. It really is horrendous.

You will like it if you agree with any of the following:

*I like wearing minimal clothing and standing around to see if anyone will look at me and my exposed flesh

*I really want to sleep with a footballer/B-Z List celebrity/someone who may or may not have been on TV once

*Waiters and doormen on a power trip make my night FUN!

*I will shamelessly flirt with an old/greasy/sleazy man in the hope he may give me a sip of his champagne

*I want to be a gold-digger just like my mum!I've been there on a Wednesday and a Saturday and never before have I been somewhere with so many ignorant posers in one spot.

Upside - the music in here is pretty good, standard club music, which does count for a lot for me, meaning I'm giving a few more stars than what the club probably deserves.

Also, dancing on chairs is permitted so you can easily sip on your champagne and dance the night away - providing you don't care about the cold icy stares which will be thrown your way by other clubbers (gold-diggers) and the clammy grope of a perverts hand on your thigh.

Conclusion, if you're going to Mo*Vida - don't!

Don't believe the Hype! well not all of it.

Lets start with the security and the guest list girl, they all get a WELDONE, but as for that scrawny to bit girl that gave me attitude as she showed me to my table, well all i can say is get a life.

Music was exceptional, bar and waiting staff seemed overwhelmed so drinks took forever. To many guys in the club that kept on harassing you while you danced, and when i brought it up to the female manager .. sorry didn't get her name, she just smiled and turned away, fat lot of good that was,

security inside did come to my rescue , well me and 5 other girls on my table, and politely asked the obnoxious guys to move. All in all a good night but not exceptional.

I can only say it is a ridiculous place and I'm certainly not bothered to go back there as there is plenty of really exclusive places to visit.

The first time we went there it was a Thursday night and arrived there well after 11pm; it was quite crowded and when I went to tell the bouncer we were on the guest list he asked us to join a very long queue.

I spotted the lady with the list and told her the name of the person who invited was and was immediately let in.

Strange or what? It was free entry for ladies and gentleman on my friend's guest list and we all got in for free.

I was not impressed with the place but enjoyed dancing and the drinks although expensive were fine.

The second time we went there it was also a Thursday night and I was invited by the same person, we arrived there just before 11pm and there was no queue, spoke with same bouncer and he just rudely said to talk to the lady with the guest's list (not the same lady from first visit to Movida) so we did.

She took her time pretending was looking for our names and finally spoke to someone else's and told us to get in.

My friend said it was free for all on her guest list but my male companion was asked to pay £20.

We were well dressed and had money to spend but would rather spend on drinks as a matter of principles.
