The worst service I've ever experienced in London, stuff is completely unprofessional and rude. Sh*t place. Never again.
Over Pricey chow! I could not remove the stars for some reason, cos it does not even deserve half a star. I have heard of Mr Chow and have passed by it so many times, so my fiance booked a table for us giving up his credit card details for £70 set menu. We thought for all the hype that they created the place will be nice - mistake! The place could not even boast a traditional dragon picture, we were given a corner table, loud music and a crappy menu to order from. The waiter did not even bring us a wine menu until we asked for it. They expected us to choose from their crappy set menu. Food was similar to normal chinese restaurants and the waiters were not that very friendly. For the price I paid I definitely will expect a better service and awesome food in a place like high street Ken! Waste of money! Pls dont go!
avoid at all costs!i was utterly abused and humiliated when i took my parents and sister to Mr chow in London.
After fine experiences in LA and NY, i decided to try the London address a couple of weeks ago.I never opened the menu. when the maitre d' came, i ordered crispy duck for four.
The maitre d', Marcelo, said he would arrange some openers and bring my duck after that. instead, he forced 8 plates upon us, refused to take back the extra prawns and steak which i never ordered but he served nonetheless and gave me a doggy bag with my crispy duck (which i never touched, obviously).
terrible experience!
STAY AWAY AND DO NOT!!! I REPEAT..DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!!!!
What a rip off, awful service, food was like Chinese take away on a plate, way over price.
I really don't know how they get away with this. there are far better Chinese restaurant in London.
I´m mexican, food was fabolous, the place could be better
Useless, we went on a lunchtime to celebrate, the place was empty. The waiter said "let us put a menu together for you" - 2 boring starters and 2 boring main dishes.
The only thing that was spectacular was the bill
Unfortunately the minimum rating is one star, so that is what I have had to give it, although it doesn't deserve it. Outrageously overpriced - expect to pay close to £100 a head and you won't be disappointed.
For that money, I would expect great food & great service, but sadly got neither; food is average, and service no better.
Please find somewhere else to part with your money - I will never go back
I loved Mr. Chow. The staff were very attentive and helpful, we told the waiter that we wanted this one type of beef but that he could pick the rest, everything was amazing, and I don't usually like Chinese food. I found the whole of Mr. Chow amazing.
The food at Mr. Chow was the standard of a takeaway. Save your time and money because this place is overrated and very over priced.
The meal at Mr. Chow cost £200 for 2 people with 3 glasses of wine. They brought the wine by the glass without showing us the bottle and claimed that it was an expensive wine, although it tasted far from good. When we refused it, instead of apologising they got very aggressive.
Mr. Chow has very cramped seating with poor ventilation and bad mannered staff. Not worth a visit.
Wow - Mr Chow certainly isn't somewhere just to chow down - it's a pretty glam affair. Lots of smoky mirrors and starched tablecloths and a very well behaved clientele. I think there's a Mr Chow in NYC too, so not only does he serve good food he gets about a bit too.
Don't expect the X or Wow Factor in the the food. Two of us dined in the upstairs green tiled lacklustre room. No evidence of a Chinese restaurant - except the European staff who brought meals to the table speaking in a mock-chinese banter! Some meals were brought to us on tin trays, yes, the same ones you expect in a local Indian cheap and cheerful. £4.00 a head for rice, same price for a meagre tin of pok choy. I asked the head waiter to explain an entree, he said "pancakes with spring onions basically". Not very inviting at £10, I thought. Main course - the texture of our duck felt like it was cooked in a solarium. The most decent dish was "Three Things" a seafood/chicken dish swimming in a basic light sauce, naturally served in true MR Chow style, on tin plate all for the lovely price of £18 - thanks for coming! Our objective was to pay top dollar to be wined and dined in a fab ambience whilst experiencing the best London has to offer in Chinese cooking. Unfortunately, our expectations were dashed.
