The North China DOES have chinese customers, I've been eating there for about 15 years and have seen them. The food doesn't 'look' perfect because it is all home-made freshly to order.
Their duck pancakes are what they're famous for and are delicious- I've never found any to compare. If you like your chinese food without gaudy decor or MSG, but with a friendly, upmarket feel, the North China is reliable and good value.

The food certainly looked far from perfect! Even a Chinese takeaway won't give you burnt rice let alone a supposedly classy restaurant. Perhaps they were having a bad night? Who knows.

North China is very average considering the price. I ordered some prawn dumplings for starters which were nice but every single one was ripped at the edges. For the main course we had to wait for more than 40 minutes. To top it off, our rice was burnt at the edges and our noodles cold and greasy.

I ordered some fish which was average at best and the pork was passable although the vegetables were clearly not fresh. I was duped by the restaurant's promise of fresh ingredients, but noticed the restaurant had hardly any Chinese customers, always a telling sign. I will never go back to North China.

Ah man, the North China duck and pancakes are clearly made by angels, of this I am convinced. It actually melts in your mouth, the only problem with North China's food is that I've been eating too much of it!
