We managed to get a table at this restaurant last Saturday night, after canceling our favorite Hakkasan, in Nozomi's favour.
Crowded bar, DJ, buzzing atmosphere. That's what you really look for on a Saturday night.
When we ordered a bottle of wine, I wasn't happy they didn't have the special type of glasses for my favorite Malbec. Than disposable chopsticks. Ouch. I wasn't happy at all. BUT. I loved the fabulous Cheval Andes 2003 in acceptable glasses. And the food was so worth it! We started with juicy and succulent soft shell crab and Foie gras- better than the best foie gras, that in my opinion, was in Daniel's, New York, two stars Michelin restaurant! (where repeatedly returned because of that Foie gras)!
To follow we had Spicy lamb cutlets pink and juicy, Chilean sea bass, gorgeous, tender the way, that when you cut through, it falls into pieces. And the spicy salsa totally compliments the perfectly cooked fish. And that was what broke me- THE BEST FISH I HAVE EVER HAD. We also had tasteful and tender Wagyu beef, gorgeous, crispy and smooth asparagus. Pakchoi we ordered wan't available, but the chef sent us melting in the mouth chocolate fondant to apologize.
We already ordered also the presentation of chef's deserts, and it was impeccable.
Beautiful set up and design, this restaurant had amazing food, friendly service and the atmosphere to match. We even made three waiters dance to my favorite song! The bill was pleasingly surprising. Thank you, we will return back!
Went recently- food was superb, attentive staff...absolutely no complaints! Think Nobu without the hookers and a more intimate setting.
I will give a star for 2 reasons: - you cannot give 0 star rating - the food was ok 122 pounds for 2 drinks, a sake bottle, 10 makis, 5 niguiris, 6 sashimi slides and a salmon tatare (which is a baby portion purée) is just ridiculous. PS: do not order the the skinny salmon roll. It is rather a anorexic salmon roll. Do not even bother looking for the salmon, we tried... and failed.
D&K
I went to Nozomi on Friday and had such a good time that I went back Saturday as well! Food was first class (I recommend the Chilean sea bass and the wagyu beef sirloin), the management are all friendly professionals and the music was so amazing; the place has such a unique vibe - an ambiance that oozes pure cool. Thoroughly enjoyed my weekend and would recommend it to all those that like contemporary Japanese cuisine
Nozomi is defiantly one of my favorite london restaurants. I have been going for approximately two years now and have always, with one or two exceptions been satisfied. Great place, i look forward to going back when i next return to London.
Would have been 5/5 if it was not for the service. Went last Saturday and the place was packed.
The waitresses was clearly understaffed and when we arrived only a few at our table were given a menu. However, that is also my only complaint.
The food is excellent and the atmosphere and place in itself great (can really recommend the soft shell crab and sashimi is really fresh).
The guests are all in a good mood and the atmosphere is extremely upbeat. The bar in the front is perhaps the best thing with the place with good cocktails and great guests who are chatty and eager to mingle with new people.
Will definitely go again as it would be the perfect place to start your Saturday night. Thank you for a great evening!
The food and cocktails are great.... and that is the only good thing I can about this place.
The kitchen staff is totally let down by the front of house.
The waiting staff are slack, board, and casual.
We asked for advise on what to order, and ended up under ordering on food, and over ordering on rice!
The wine was poured and then re-poured before we even had a chance to drink a sip, and we were asked four times if we wanted a second bottle of wine, and when we didn't were given dirty looks.
The music is so loud and inappropriate that I couldn't hear the people I was having supper with, and had to resort to shouting.
I and a couple of my companions asked for the music to be turned down a bit repeatedly, which is was just to be turned up again even louder within a matter of minutes.
It was like a joke to the staff. We were obviously not the cool clientèle that they want in their restaurant, that they have confused with a club.
If you want an evening where the environment enhances catching up with friends don't go here.
Oh yes, and when you are sent downstairs to collect your coat from the cloakroom, the basement smells of pee - so I would advise keeping your coat with you!
I am not one to write reviews but felt that after such a great night out had to put one in...
Firstly the welcome we got and by the time e left the bar area we felt we knew every one in the place. The host was magnificant and made us feel very special.
When seated the atmosphere in the restaurant is the first thing to hit you. It was nice being in place that was so upbeat, but fun and not too pretentious.
Our food order was done direct with the chef who asked us what we liked. His choices of courses was just excellent. The sushi was the best i have had and the Wagu beef was so succulent that it melted in your mouth.
Our waitress was very attentive although at times quiet in speaking....But this did not deter from what was a good night. Full marks for a full marked night out.
See you again soon.
Great night out if you can get in!
Amazing! Don't listen to the idiot below, i had one of the best nights out ever in this place and the service was flawless! Highly recomended!! Steve.
An absolute disaster of a place!!! In earlier days it it used to be great but now they have a new chef who does not even know how to cook a simple bowl of steamed rice. Our first portion was hard and crispy and then when we asked for another bowl it came back mushy like porridge. The chef we were told is Australian.
The service was also terrible as the waiters kept bringing us dishes and champagne that we never ordered (on multiple occasions) and also taking away unfinished half full glasses of champagne. Also, they brought our starters and main courses out all at the same time! What was even worst though was the attitude of the staff, especially the French guy at the front desk who greets people and shows them to their tables.
We had to hunt him down when we first arrived, and later we found out that he had a really ugly side. He was extremely rude and arrogant and walked away from me when I was still talking to him and then when I called him back to question him about the bad service he huffed and puffed with complete disregard to what I was saying and didn't bother to even look me in the eye.
SHOCKING. When we finally told him that we were not going to pay the full price of bill he had the nerve to ask us if we went around other restaurants trying not to pay. I was so upset by this comment I burst into tears. Still he never even bothered to apologise. I was totally disgusted and humiliated by him and the whole experience and will never go back there.
As one other reviewer said (on another site) you'll find a far better service in a kebab shop. Oh, and I agree with the other reviewers that the music is way too loud!!My advice to you is to not bother with this restaurant. REALLY
I found that NOZOMI is a fantastic venue with a great crowd. I love the fact the diners finish their meals and then head down to party at the bar! The atmosphere is great and is perfect for setting the right mood before going out to the clubs! The DJ plays some really good house music, allowing Nozomi to be more relaxed and have a much more vibrant and energetic atmosphere! The staff are very friendly and have character! the service is surprisingly good, considering how busy they are on the weekends.I was very happy with it and could not ask for more.
The cocktails are extremely good, with a great variety of flavors. Nozomi is a one of a kind venue, and you could even stay there the entire night as it caters for everything! Food, drink, music and a great crowd. Nozomi basically turns into a club, i mean people order bottles of grey goose and D.P to the tables at the bar after dinner( just like in the clubs!). Once again I found Nozomi to be a great place and would recomend it! the food is fantastic, the atmosphere has got to be one of the best in london considering they are a restaurant.
brilliant place for a night out!
Excellent (but pricey) cocktails, very little seating area, bar staff friendly enough, but management are pretentious and rude. Although the food in the restaurant is fabulous, the combination of bad attitude, thumping inappropriate music in the dining room and an overly pretentious atmosphere, make it one of the last places in London that I would ever return to.
We went there for dinner on a Saturday evening in April 2008. The place is a Zuma/Nobu wannabee but doesn't even come close. The DJ was doing a terrible job and music was just not right in the dinner area. Coming to food, there was something wrong with their kitchen and they didn't have a lot of the dishes which I didn't mind. But the waiter screwed up many times and the food was absolutely below average for a place that tries to be Zuma. The sushi was better than Yo!Sushi but not the same league as Nobu. The cooked food was bad as well. The sake list was horribly short and too expensive. My advice: you can't get a reservation at Zuma but it's worth going and having a few drinks there and eating at the bar there.
Being fanatic about Japanese food, I had an excellent meal at Nozomi on the weekend. The food quality and service was really first class and the staff were really nice & friendly. Had a few drinks at the bar to begin with as we waited for our table and got chatting to a number of people in a really interesting crowd. Service was great given how busy and popular the place is, even though not cheap but worth every penny. I will definitely go back.

I had drinks at Nozomi last Friday - it is an unbelievably busy place, almost uncomfortably so. However, the staff are fantastic and the drinks brilliant. The bar manager even took time to come over to chat and suggest cocktails to us.
I want to try the food at Nozomi next time, but perhaps on a quieter night when people aren't dancing around the tables!
I went to Nozomi yesterday for my birthday and it was very good. The Nozomi staff are helpful and the atmosphere great. I'll go back very soon.
Nozomi is a great place with great staff. The food couldn't be better. George {the best dressed door picker} and the staff at Nozomi make us feel like someone famous every time we eat out there. However, the bar staff are sometimes not very smart.
Nozomi has a very impressive entrance with polite doorman and assistant. We entered into a dimly lit bar area with only two other guests present. From this point it went down hill as were asked if we had a reservation. Having replied to the contrary we were then subject to brief scrutiny followed by a slightly longer study of the bookings - which seemed suspiciously blank. With a perfunctory apology we were ejected to the great surprise of the outside staff.
Were we the wrong sort? Who knows but my wife wasn’t wearing Prada this time. Nil points for Nozomi charm, service and ambiance. I can’t comment on the food and really couldn’t care if that is their attitude.
My friend Rebecca and I went to Nozomi last night and fell in love with it. The place looks absolutely beautiful, very stylish, the staff were very friendly too and the food was superb, especially the sushi and steamed spinach with sesame! The music made you want to dance.
Next time we're in London, we'll definitely come back to Nozomi. It's a place I would recommend to everybody who wants to treat themselves to a delicious Japanese dinner in a beautifully decorated restaurant.
What a terrible experience I had at Nozomi - if you are trying to diet after Christmas, this is your sanctuary.
The Miso cod was a similar texture to mashed potato and Yo Sushi would have been preferable to the rubbery not to mention tasteless squid.
If you enjoy food and good service do not enter, stick to Nobu.
However, if all you want is ambience Nozomi is the place for you.
Nozomi is far better than Zuma. It's the best restaurant in London in my opinion. Nozomi is just what Knightsbridge needed - something better than exceptional.
Nozomi is a terrrible restaurant. Terrible food, terrible service and no people there. I had read so many bad reviews I had to see what Nozomi was about. It really is as bad as everyone says.
The bar serves drinks, and that's possibly the only good thing about the place, to get the taste of the food out of your mouth. They really have to sharpen up their act. We refused to pay, the food was that bad.
As a great lover of Japanese food, we found that Nozomi was really very disappointing. The food is, in my opinion, really not very Japanese at all, especially the dish which consists of fried tomatoes. The sushi is of supermarket quality, especially as the menu is over priced, and the service is really not up to scratch.
The Decor however is very clean and bright though the booming loud music just gives the place the feel of an empty night club without any of the people. A group of friends that went to Nozomi just said "Not again!"
The only way to really describe Nozomi is an "experience that you do not need ".
Ladies and gentleman, trust me and believe me, forget Zuma, NOZOMI is THE CREAM OF LONDON! The food is jap genuine yummy and good value for money, fantastic staff and gorgeous management, you have to go there and feel it.
Nozomi was a very disappointing experience. It is quite possibly the worst food and service I have experienced in a long, long time. A group of us went to Nozomi and without exception we all found the whole experience just as appalling as each other. If you are looking for decent food, avoid Nozomi!
I've been to Nozomi a couple of times and enjoyed myself a great deal. Nozomi is in a very exclusive part of town and is nice and stylish but still manages to be welcoming. I will definitely be returning to Nozomi soon.
