You could tell this would be a nice restaurant. Had lovely starters, but then the oven broke and they weren't able to serve mains. We were waiting for ages. Waitresses are not particularly polite. We felt that considering it was 9pm and we'd been waiting a while that we shouldn't have had to pay full price but they charged us full price and were very slow about it. Had to go to another restaurant round the corner which would have been fine had we not just spent a load of money on wine while waiting. Not great customer service. I've been here twice now and the food is really good but the service can be really quite rude.
Went for a simple pizza , picante which was not chili in any way. Pizza was very heavy and lacking taste.
Service- There seemed to be 3 waitresses The only good one was not even allowed to take orders and it was left to the rude owner.
The bill came and they were hanging at the table waiting for the money. I did not feel it was worth a tip (across all places I eat I always leave an average of 15%, but sometimes on place will get less and another would get more)
The bill with tip was £28.10 I put down £30.10 expecting change, after 10 mins i gave up waiting as they had given themselves an additional tip.
bad experience, the owner very rude, the food plentiful but tasteless. After my complaint the owner has offended me in front of everyone, because what I ordered did not correspond to what I received. I'm Sardinian and I know our food and I do not like being teased. she ignored my complaint, she charged the plate that I sent back, and I was insulted in front of everyone. I've been also insulted by the chef from the kitchen, very rude, very expensive bill. not really a good experience. just a waste of time and money
Had heard good things about this restaurant, and the food was ok, but I hate restaurants that will not give you ice cubes with the tap water.
They also put bread and olives on the table when you arrive then charge for it (£2.50) when you leave. Generally a mean spirited place.
Will not return unless they realise that treating customers this way is not on when there are so many alternatives.
A taste of Sardinia can be found in Nuraghe at Tufnell Park. You wouldn't think Tufnell park to be a gastro district but Nuraghe makes it such in my eyes. Simple design - hand painted walls, seashore thematics, light wooden chairs and tables - none of the Michelin pomp. You get a real taste of Italy though - the chef is proper Italian, language speakers can distinctly hear him occasionally bitch at the staff. The food is great. I've been there numerous times and every time it held the mark. Traditional pasta with meat, spaghetti with clams, fresh tiger prawns, wafer thin pizza, ravioli with walnuts.
We were looking forward very much to an intimate evening at a warm family run italian restaurant. The starter was fine, the service was warm and friendly......but we had to eventually ask for the bill after waiting an hour an a half for our main courses........which were always five minutes away but never came. Seems like they had some problems in the kitchen...we wont be returning
Having eaten in this restaurant twice before I felt confident recommending it and booking it for a family dinner...well I couldn't have got it more wrong. I booked the day before for 14 adults and 3 children and I made sure that we booked early and said that we would be out by 8pm. We booked for 6.30 and some family members turned up at 6.40pm, this seemed to upset the staff and chef. The main reason for going was to eat the pizzas and once the food orders were delivered to the chef, he categorically refused to prepare any pizzas at all, arguing that his oven was to small to cook for ten adults at the same time. It would have been helpful to know this at the time of the booking, apparently it was my fault for not asking. The pasta dishes we ordered came out cold and the general attitude from the staff was less than welcoming. They were rude and aggressive and we were told off for moving a wine glass from its allocated spot and for accidentally tipping a chair over. Once they realized we were far from happy they started accusing us of turning up drunk (unlikely with my parents and 3 kids in tow). From the kitchen the chef started shouting at us saying they needed the tables back but there were no other customers and basically making us feel extremely unwelcome. A row erupted and we were sworn at and basically told to f***k off out of their restaurant. We all stood outside trying to comprehend what had just happened and he started threatening us again telling us to get away from his restaurant. I have never in my life encountered such gratitude for spending £300 in a restaurant and may go back one more time for sheer entertainment value.
Pizza Express it is then...
Had noted this addition to the local scene some time ago, but during the summer, hadn't been tempted to eat outside and watch the traffic go by on Fortess Road. Recently however, on a dreary rainy summer's night, did try it, and found the service charming, the interior dining rfoom extremely well done for such a small venue, and the food absolutely outstanding. Seems very popular with the locals to the point where you would actually have to think about booking ahead, especially on a weekend night. Also worth mentioning that it seems to me it is best descibed as Sardinian rather than simply Italian, and that if you pay in cash, you get a 10% discount.
They also seemed very welcoming to families, including those with small children -- as you would expect of Italians I guess!
