I visited the restaurant by chance after finishing a training programme for work. I along with a colleague hadn’t eaten and were passing Ozu when we decided to go in. At first we were put off by the wooden décor, which seemed to be a bit OTT, but once we were greeted and got our food that didn’t matter. The food was delicious and even though it was busy the staff was very attentive and happy. I enjoyed the meal and already planning my next visit!
I have a bit of a thing for Japanese food and living in the home of the Camberwell carrot, this is the closest, decent Japanese restaurant. Yes, it's a little difficult to find but the food is lovely (the tempura left no grease marks on the paper - always the way I judge it!), the atmosphere and decor a little ascetic but perfectly comfortable(maybe I'm missing out on the Japanes minimalist aesthetic) but the trek to the toilets was downright bizarre! I was sent wandering for miles through the bowels of County Hall in search of the ladies and at one wrong turn almost managed to take in an art exhibition along the way. Great food, pleasant service just don't leave it too long for the toilet!
I’ve not heard great reviews about Ozu but to be honest I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening here. The staff, supposedly unfriendly, couldn’t have been more attentive. The girl who served our table was helpful when it came to ordering and was extremely pleasant.
The food was delicious and Ozu definitely know how to prepare good Japanese cuisine. I am a believer in making up my own mind so would suggest to anyone to try this restaurant for themselves before making a decision.
Ozu restaurant is shocking – we visited a while ago and found the food very average, the service was rude and staff totally ignorant of Japanese food. Nice view, shame about the food and staff. We will never go to Ozu again!
It's a bit hard to find, but Ozu is amazing. Beautifully decorated - a breath of fresh air after all those canteen places - and the food is wonderful.
Ozu is how Japanese food should be done.
