I added my name to guest list at 6pm and was confirmed. When i arrived i was told my name was not on the list. Fair enough. First of all i thought paper was a new club but its in fact the old cafe royal bar. As an experienced bar/clubber i decided to assed this place just from the people going in. Few years back you would get a mediterranean and middle eastern crowd. Hower from my observation the crowd was simply an essex type of clubers. For this kind of crowd you might as well get the real deal and go down Romford. Paper is a big fuss over nothing..
I celebrated my 30th Birthday at Paper recently and had a wicked time. I have been into the clubbing scene for a while so I knew to get organised. Reserving areas, tables and ensuring I was getting the best deal on the minimum spend.I decided to have early drinks in the Glass Bar (connected to the Paper but seperate venue) with some of my firends that didn't fancy clubbing. At about 11pm the remainder of my group, were taken to the table by one of the managers. We had to go through a ID and search process but it was surprisingly quick and hassle free.Bottles service is only on tables, additional guests came later and joined us on the table. There was no trouble on the door for anyone but I did ensure to tell my guests not to rock up at 2am or something!Staff were cool, security I didn't even notice. The furniture is made for dancing so we were on tables and stools which made for a mental night. My recommendation is to get organised, call ahead and speak to the club and tell them what you want to do, seems like alot of admin but worth it! All in all it went smoothly and would definatley return!!!!
I have not even been to Paper yet and I already hate the place. I've been trying to book a table since Monday and have had to chase them all week about it. Guess my money isn’t good enough for them. I've called 3 times and each time they have given me different prices. The last time I called the girl on the phone even said I had to pay entry fee on top of the charge for a table. What a load of BS.
They have made me send emails that no one is replying to. What a shock that a London club doesn’t give to craps about its customers.
Does anyone out there know of one decent club, not filled with pretentious people and with staff that treat you like crap unless you’re going to spend thousands of pounds?
eeeek! I can't get quite understand why this establishment attracts celebrities. You first wait in a dingy small room like a bunch of school children until the main doors open at 12.00 and once everyone swarms in you stand squashed in another small room, mostly taken up by a VIP area where only a handful of people sit in. The clientelle is full of celeb wannabee's who try too hard at being noticed. The male population look like desperate puppies about to pounce on any moving female no matter what they look like. Their groping and grooling is rather disgusting to take. On the plus side the music is rather good, although your dancing moves will be minimised by the lack of room. Better off staying at home dancing to MTV!
overrated and overpriced. Bitchy clones looking for footballers and sleazy guys..
On the plus side friendly & goodlooking bar tender!
Not really worth a second visit despite the bar tender unfortunately.
4 b-52 shots in this place cost about 50 pounds with service...! it is exorbitantly expensive and classless...avoid. only positive is that the interior is very well done.
Yes, it's true that Paper is not as stylish as Movida but everytime I went there I had a blast. Music is great and every single time there were men dancing around me which is what is important. If u'r a good-looking girl u will get attention and that is what most of us are looking for I suppose. Compared to Maddox or Movida this is a lower-level club, definitely but I think that people are more friendly and u can have lots of fun.
Almost the most ridiculous place I have ever been. Unlike Umbaba and the like it manages to be really expensive without any element of class.
We were (as everyone else seems to have been) held on the door whilst they "tried to find us" on the guest list... assumably a ploy to see if you're attractive enough to enter - this becomes ironic and slightly insulting once you are inside...
We had booked a table, at which we weren't allowed to order single drinks or cocktails and VAT was added onto everything you bought on top of the menu price. Despite having a credit card behind the bar to cover the minimum spend we were constantly harassed by the staff to spend more. The staff were then rude and challenged one of the group up in the corridor until he paid for the table up front. They "lost" the credit card of the girl whose birthday it was, refused to take names for the guest list then refused to let people in because they weren't on it.
This place was overpriced (we know how much a bottle of Grey Goose costs, give us a break), pretentious and rude. People cared about where they were and who saw them not having a good night out. If you love Space Ibiza you will hate Paper, it could not be further removed from what having fun should be about.
