I reserved a table to eat at Paper for 9.30pm, which was the perfect time. The restaurant was practically empty which meant we had a wide selection of tables. The restaurant is stunning, with great music for the mood, and amazing lighting. The waitresses were very friendly and offered to take many pictures of me & my boyfriend for us.
Food was lovely..reasonably priced & not at all pretentious!
nly problem was, club was supposed to open at 10.30 and even after leaving the restaurant at approx 11/11.30, it still wasn't open so decided to go home after a really lovely evening out...even though entry to the club would have been free!
Don't know about the club yet, but would 10001% recommend the restaurant!
I added my name to guest list at 6pm and was confirmed. When i arrived i was told my name was not on the list. Fair enough. First of all i thought paper was a new club but its in fact the old cafe royal bar. As an experienced bar/clubber i decided to assed this place just from the people going in. Few years back you would get a mediterranean and middle eastern crowd. Hower from my observation the crowd was simply an essex type of clubers. For this kind of crowd you might as well get the real deal and go down Romford. Paper is a big fuss over nothing..
I celebrated my 30th Birthday at Paper recently and had a wicked time. I have been into the clubbing scene for a while so I knew to get organised. Reserving areas, tables and ensuring I was getting the best deal on the minimum spend.I decided to have early drinks in the Glass Bar (connected to the Paper but seperate venue) with some of my firends that didn't fancy clubbing. At about 11pm the remainder of my group, were taken to the table by one of the managers. We had to go through a ID and search process but it was surprisingly quick and hassle free.Bottles service is only on tables, additional guests came later and joined us on the table. There was no trouble on the door for anyone but I did ensure to tell my guests not to rock up at 2am or something!Staff were cool, security I didn't even notice. The furniture is made for dancing so we were on tables and stools which made for a mental night. My recommendation is to get organised, call ahead and speak to the club and tell them what you want to do, seems like alot of admin but worth it! All in all it went smoothly and would definatley return!!!!
I have not even been to Paper yet and I already hate the place. I've been trying to book a table since Monday and have had to chase them all week about it. Guess my money isn’t good enough for them. I've called 3 times and each time they have given me different prices. The last time I called the girl on the phone even said I had to pay entry fee on top of the charge for a table. What a load of BS.
They have made me send emails that no one is replying to. What a shock that a London club doesn’t give to craps about its customers.
Does anyone out there know of one decent club, not filled with pretentious people and with staff that treat you like crap unless you’re going to spend thousands of pounds?
eeeek! I can't get quite understand why this establishment attracts celebrities. You first wait in a dingy small room like a bunch of school children until the main doors open at 12.00 and once everyone swarms in you stand squashed in another small room, mostly taken up by a VIP area where only a handful of people sit in. The clientelle is full of celeb wannabee's who try too hard at being noticed. The male population look like desperate puppies about to pounce on any moving female no matter what they look like. Their groping and grooling is rather disgusting to take. On the plus side the music is rather good, although your dancing moves will be minimised by the lack of room. Better off staying at home dancing to MTV!
overrated and overpriced. Bitchy clones looking for footballers and sleazy guys..
On the plus side friendly & goodlooking bar tender!
Not really worth a second visit despite the bar tender unfortunately.
4 b-52 shots in this place cost about 50 pounds with service...! it is exorbitantly expensive and classless...avoid. only positive is that the interior is very well done.
Yes, it's true that Paper is not as stylish as Movida but everytime I went there I had a blast. Music is great and every single time there were men dancing around me which is what is important. If u'r a good-looking girl u will get attention and that is what most of us are looking for I suppose. Compared to Maddox or Movida this is a lower-level club, definitely but I think that people are more friendly and u can have lots of fun.
Almost the most ridiculous place I have ever been. Unlike Umbaba and the like it manages to be really expensive without any element of class.
We were (as everyone else seems to have been) held on the door whilst they "tried to find us" on the guest list... assumably a ploy to see if you're attractive enough to enter - this becomes ironic and slightly insulting once you are inside...
We had booked a table, at which we weren't allowed to order single drinks or cocktails and VAT was added onto everything you bought on top of the menu price. Despite having a credit card behind the bar to cover the minimum spend we were constantly harassed by the staff to spend more. The staff were then rude and challenged one of the group up in the corridor until he paid for the table up front. They "lost" the credit card of the girl whose birthday it was, refused to take names for the guest list then refused to let people in because they weren't on it.
This place was overpriced (we know how much a bottle of Grey Goose costs, give us a break), pretentious and rude. People cared about where they were and who saw them not having a good night out. If you love Space Ibiza you will hate Paper, it could not be further removed from what having fun should be about.
Went to Paper for a friends birthday. Saw Nadine from Girls aloud looking really self-conscious and a couple of other z list. The place is full of wannabies and drinks are expensive! Bar tenders like to add the "sevice charge" to a double costing me £10! A bit boring to be honest.. wanted a good laugh with the girls, but no hot men and lots of bitchy girls..
I went to Paper last Saturday after my feet turned into iceblocks waiting to get into Embassy. Girls - if you're looking good, approach the guys on the door and you'll probably breeze through and get comp entry! ;-) Its a lively club, mixed music. Played some excellent hip hop after 1pm. Man-wise, it's a no-no girls. Message to club:get some cute guys in and us ladies will flock! Not one bit of eye candy all night. But the music was still great and drinks were flowing from those promoter guy-groups!! I'd go again if I was stuck for options. Which means I probably won't be going back sometime soon.
6 of us went here on saturday, equal amount of girls and guys! it was a friends birthday and we were on a guestlist but not quite sure which one so we asked them to look for our names, when i asked the promotor politely if we could have a quick word he looked at me and my friends and said to his colleague "no", bearing in mind we were all wearing dresses and the guys were wearing shoes and shirts!!! when one of our friends came out the club to tell us the guestlise name, that he had just used 30 mins ago to get into the club. when we told the promotors the guestlist name, they said " sorrry that guestlist does not exist"!!!, this was a load of rubbish because he had just used it to get in!!!
Paper is definately an experience.
What can I say? The staff are polite enough, the music is really fantastic, and the surroundings are gorgeous - if a little cramped.
The real problem I have is with the crowd.
These so called 'celebrity' clubs market themselves as having 'class' and only letting in the 'best of the best'.
I could quite clearly see that was not true.
If these places want to be taken seriously they need to start turning away undesirables - pronto.
i went paper club last sat i really enjoyed it, we didnt av to wait ages to get in, the music was fab and the bar ppl freindly, only problems were the girls some of them are soooo stuck up an lik to barge u out the way i had to keep my cool a number of times! also if your looking for a cheep nite out dont go here drinks are £10 we expceted this so we was prepared but if your not u wil b in for a shock! also it saids dress smart and trendy to get in wel we was dressed up in out glad rags an chanel bags bt som ppl i fort hw the hell did tey get in wearin scruffy jeans? and also i see a few girls in uggs?? i am nt complaining as i av uggs myself bt for a exclusive club in west end i didnt think tey wd b aloud as there not very smart are they tere quite casual! anyways id go again for a bday or somthin bt not an average nite fink il go funky bud instead!
Well I thought it was a wicked night. Paper has nice enough people. Us classy girls filled the club up and pushed the skanky sluts out of the way. It was pretentious but what do you expect from a West End club?
As far as I'm concerned, any club, as long as I'm there and getting all the attention, can be adventurous.
All I would say is that Paper could be a little more selective with its door policy, some people there lowered the tone I felt.
Spent last night at Paper and had a brilliant evening. The decor is not top notch, but the DJ was wicked, the people there are a lot of fun, and the staff were really friendly. I was on the guest list and spent no time in the queue. Paper is small and incredibly crowded, so the only way to fully enjoy the club is to get VIP and go on and off the dance floor. Will definitely go back in the future.
I liked it at paper all in all. Its quite small and VERY expensive for your everyday joe but i had alot of fun. I thought the people inside were friendly and the music was nice and varied. Wasnt allowed into the VIP section despite some hardcore negotiating but thats to be expected as i have never met a nice bouncer in all my life! If you go here expecting to be knocked off your feet in amazement i wouldnt bother, but if you just want a good night out in a nice place and are prepared to pay for it then you just might have an awesome time!
Brilliant night at Paper on Friday, there are always so many celebrities. Friday I saw Michael Owen and Tyrese, time before I saw Beyonce and Lewis Hamilton, and time before that was P Diddy's party. Great Music, great location, amazing venue but fairly expensive! I love Paper and it's always a first choice for me. Staff are lovely too.
Went on Fri 27th April. What rude door staff from the start! We had booked on the guest list but wouldn't let us in for ages. Paper is so small, the music awful and drinks very, very expensive! We left pretty soon after we got in. Really, Paper is not even worth bothering with, don't go!
Paper is a craphole full of horrible Scouse recruitment consultants with curly hair. People like that really pee me off, and there was one pretentious cow in particular who really annoyed me. I nearly throttled her.
I also caught her giving a blowie to the bouncer in the disabled toilet.
Paper is not full of chavs, but is full off stupid blondes that love themselves too much, I mean, Whats going with the screwing, girls grow up!
There are about 80 per cent of girls and about 20 per cent of boys - I think you need to get better PR staff!
Also out to the girl what wears a grey jumper every time I see you there - you cant dance, it's like watching a robot shut down!
I went to Paper on Saturday night for my birthday and thought it was wicked! I think it's hilarious that people have written reviews and feel the need to be bitchy about 'blondes' and people with a bit more class than themselves! As one of the girls you like to bitch about I'd just like to say you're just jealous that we get the attention and not you!
So anyway, Paper's a right laugh and would suggest to anyone in need of a good night out to go! Good music and a right laugh - what a combo! xx
Well I thought it was a smashing night. Paper has nice enough people. Us sexy Greek girls filling the club and pushing the peroxide blondes out of the way. It was pretentious but what do you expect from a West End club?
As far as I'm concerned, any club, as long as I'm intoxicated with the right amount of alcohol, can be adventurous.
All in all, I would say it was an eventful evening.
Paper is shocking full chavs.
Paper? Why not call it Pompous? Pretentious? Because the crowds it attracts seem to consist of mainly D-list celebrities and young people flashing daddy's plastic. It was massively overpriced, crowded, the music was shocking for a Saturday night, and I won't be going back there for a good few years, at least.
Choose VIP at Paper if you want to step away from the dancefloor that more closely resembles a tin of packed sardines, or if you just really want to make yourself feel special. It's probably not worth it.
I went to Paper last night and found it really enjoyable. The staff were really nice, friendly and helpful. The music was very good too. It was a mix of everything. There was RnB and hip hop, a random burst of rock and some 80's pop. It was really fun.
The dance floor was very crowded though, and it took ages to manoeuvre through it which was quite annoying. But the VIP area was really nice, more chilled out and there was space to move! The bedroom sections seem like a waste of money and space. It's really secluded from the rest of the club.
Overall I liked Paper and the only complaint I have is that the dance floor gets very overcrowded. I will definitely be going back!
Paper is a horrible club, full of wannabe blondes who think they are all that. Loves, you aint all that. I am sure the bouncers let anyone in who is blonde with a short skirt on as they looked very young. But I never will go back to Paper!
The food at Paper was below average, the only thing that redeemed the night was the service. Shoot the Paper DJ! He was absolute rubbish.
Paper - I'd rather wipe my bottom with it.
Really I just can not believe how overcharged you'll get if you step into this club! And all the men they actually let in were so pretending that they have got money. Paper was an expensive night with pretentious people and staff to makes you feel the very lowest of the low. And the Paper crowd is very disappointing.
Paper was okay. There were way too many girls, so guys would definitely like it. The music and the layout were okay. Getting in at the door was easy and the guy was pleasant enough. Paper is okay but nothing special, I'd go somewhere else next time.
I think Paper has been fairly slow to start with but is in its prime now. It has stunning women, excellent drinks and bar staff. The music on Saturday was mostly funky and electro house, and some respectable hip hop. The door staff were camped up to the eye balls, but professional and polite.
To top it off Paper is a nice venue, and easy to get to. And on the issue of celebs, we may never see Cameron Diaz or Madonna in there - but who cares? There were a minimum of five premiership footballers in there. Overall, Paper has the chance to become a living legend providing it can recognise it's attributes, maintain them, and keep the riff raff out.
Paper has incredible amounts of potential and doesn't suffer from the brutal overcrowding other popular West End clubs do simply because it is bigger than most of them. It is gorgeous inside but is not popular or cool enough (yet) to charge the prices it does - Expect topay upwards of £50.00 for four drinks on top entry. Until they up the door policy and get rid of the wannabee crowd they let in, Paper is doomed.
It could be amazing but they have to make some fairly drastic changes, like perhaps making it a members club or getting rid of the horrendously generic cheesy pop music policy they have.
I was invited to a party here which turned out to be a promotion for a wanabee glamour bint. Paper was full of page three low rent tarts, being followed around by desperate Essex boys. Without this debacle I could see Paper being a good club with a super layout.
They just need to get rid of the cheap rent outs and up the stakes, and you could have a decent club in central London. I'm keeping my eye on you Paper.
Paper is better than people say it is and is by far the most popular club in London for celebs right now, overtaking Mo*vida and others of that caliber. It's not as cool or exclusive as it thinks by any means though, but it is a good time.
Paper restaurant is gorgeous and the main room is large enough to dance in without being too crowded. Drinks are prohibitively expensive though, four b-52 shots was 45 quid! And that is by far the most I have ever paid for drinks anywhere in London.
I've been to Paper a few times now and so far i've seen P.Diddy, Kanye West, Christina Aguilera, Kevin Spacy, Mischa Barton, Kiera Knightly (twice!) Lindsay Lohan, and Christian Slater. I always have a great time down there and the celebs seem to as well. Paper is by far the best club in London at the moment!
Hear the chart hits of 93 at Paper, it's like Essex in the West End. I had a table in the VIP lounge at Paper but the staff were as rude as I've seen in London. This place is low place in every sense.
My god, Paper is truly amazing. I went there on a normal night a couple of days after the end of Big Brother, with sadly no D list celebrities to gape at. We managed to get to the VIP lounge, which is absolutely amazing and I would recommend it to anyone who has cash to spend.
Paper is great but definitely not a place for a flimsy wallet. We bought a bottle of grey goose vodka between a couple of us, and a good time was had by all.
What a total and utter shithole Paper is! If you're thinking of going to Paper, don't do it!
Went to Paper on Saturday for my hen night. The food was not great and the choice was limited. The staff were friendly and attentive. The restaurant was nicely decorated but I did feel as though we were in a basement.
We then went on to the club, which I have to say was very good, the music was fantastic with a really good atmosphere. There were a few D list celibrities that thought they were A list, but apart from that a good night was had by all. Would recomend Paper if you're having a hen or birthday party.
Paper is okay. I liked it. We went to Paper on the Fashion TV Party night and everything was okay.
This place is not anything special, we went to Paper on a Friday night and half the crowd went home by 1am, at which point the stage was dead.
The door girl was a complete idiot, who insisted on arguing with me about me being on the guest list even after she had found my name. Generally the staff where rude and slow. The sound system in this place needs sorting out, it just sounded wrong. I wonder how long Paper has left?
Went to Paper on Saturday night. The music was great, but not at all glam and there were no celebs! Felt slightly overdressed.
Hired a 'bed' room which I would not recommend as it was tucked away from all the action - we could not see or be seen. We also had to mix with loads of sweaty young people who were engaged in various stages of foreplay. Paper is not for the sophisticated.
Paper is the best club I have been to in a long time. It was packed solid and the music was great> It ranged between rock, RnB and house with a bit of pop thrown in. If you're prepared to spend a bit of money and want to mix with the beaufiful people Paper is the place!
I arrived at this venue, with two female friends, all of us had our names on the door. Once we were checked off the list the doorman said the females could go in for free, but I'd have to pay. When asked why, the doorman stared at me blankly.
Inside was your typical glam club. Lots of glass, tasteful chandeliers, skinny girls in short skirts and blokes in unbuttoned shirts.
Apart from the price of the drinks, there was nothing remarkable about this place.
With a grand to blow and memories ruined what could be better than Paper. We sank bottles of Laurent Perrier and Absolut...what could beat that? I'll tell you what, a fantastic waitress and a 30-something lap dancer that pulled both me and Cavers! Definite buy Paper, unless you’re poor.
Paper is excactly what you would expect from a club situated next to Cheers: it was terrible. The music was really bad. I had thought it would be cheesy RnB but the music that was playing was from 1999.
The atmosphere was really bad. The only good things about Paper were the staff, who were polite, and the fact that it wasn't entirely packed.
Went to Paper just 2 weeks after the opening. From the moment I came into the first room till I left all the interiors made it feel like a huge party at home. The staff also paid a lot of attention to details. The night I was at Paper, lots of celebs were dancing around and they stayed till the end, having a great time. The contrast of the black and white is just a must see in the night life. Finally something is happening in London, someone understood what it was missing in the West End. In one word, Paper is INCREDIBLE.
I went to the Hed Kandi night at Paper and had the best time - the music was awesome, the venue was stunning and the staff were really friendly. I'll definitely be going back to Paper!
Paper is the best club I have been to in a long time. I went on Saturday night with a load of friends and we all agreed to go back very soon. Music at Paper was great and it had a good atmosphere, not the normal snobby West End club.
Paper is one of the worst clubs/restaraunts in London. We had nothing but appalling service from the moment we made reservations. They made no effort as a new club to make people want to come, they expected the client to do all the work and chase them up for faxes etc. and a 3 day ahead cancellation policy - what is that all about?
When we arrived it was hard to tell they spent £750,000 to transfo
