Papillon is a joy to visit. The very moment you walk through the door you are made to feel extremely relaxed by the lighting and decor. This is a smart restaruant but it manages to feel unstuffy and unpretentious. We sat at what seemed perhaps the best table in the restaurant, in the front corner with views down draycott avenue.

The service is charming. It is efficient but never rushed. Likewise, you are not constantly bothered by the waiter's presence yet he always manages to be at hand when you want something. Crucially, the two waiters who served did so with smiles on their faces, and made it seem they were enjoying their work. The maitre'd came across as ever so slightly arrogant though, it must be said. Whilst the waiters were polite and efficient, the Maitre'd, whilst efficient, was not quite so freindly, which seemed a pity.

My main course of filet de boeuf was delicious.Cooked to perfection, it was extremely tender and very tasty. Green beans were exactly as I like and were a very nice accompiniment. Chips were cold though! But all in all, a very pleasing main course.

The Pig trotters promised so much and sounded really interesting...but I have to be honest, they were disappointing. I always try and experiment with starters, hence ordering these, which I had never had before. Regardless of not having anything to compare them to, it was not a dish I enjoyed. It lacked any flavour other than deep fat frying and was not a pleasure to eat.

The wine was great, fantastic selection and although pricey, its Chelsea, so what do you expect! The list was not well ordered though.

Dessert was lovely. Sorbet in liquour, a nice clean way to end a meal. Although there were more substantial options for those who aren't full.

I would highly recommend Papillon. A truly relaxing atmosphere and wonderful service. Sit back (in very comfortable chairs), listen to the subtle jazz and enjoy a really very nice restauran

This is not reasonably priced but one knows that from the area and local scene. However one does expect reasonably sophisticated food, particularly with a traditional menu. The food was greasy, the service too familiar and I had hair in my side dish which was replaced but nothing complimentary was offered, nor was the apology very serious. The maitre'd made a small joke of the incident. Really appalling.

Our meal at Papillon was delightful. I thoroughly enjoyed my fish and my wife said her steak was delicious. Papillon is well worth a visit - and don't expect to pay over the odds, either. The prices are very reasonable.
