The ViewLondon Review

Pasha offers Londoners an alluring night of Morrocan hospitality, scented with incense, rose petals and fruit flavoured tobacco.

The Venue
Pasha may at first glance appear to be very similar to every other Morrocan restaurant in London, but take a closer look and you will find intricate tables carved by artisans, handmade fabrics and interior design far superior to that of its competitors. Stairs strewn with rose petals and glowing incense sticks complete the venue, which is spread over two floors and boasts a private dining room which seats twelve.

The Atmosphere
The lounge bar on the ground floor is relaxed. Customers recline on cushions enjoying cocktails, mint tea, pastries and Shisha pipes, whilst down in the basement the restaurant is livelier. A brace of belly dancers shimmy between tables, encouraging diners to join them, whilst those looking for a bit more privacy can book one of the intimate nooks, which are ideal for a romantic dinner a deux.

The Food
The food at Pasha is very authentic, and British diners may be surprised by the watery tagines however, a good Morrocan meal always starts with a selection of Kemia, which are small, shared starters and Pasha excels at these. Classics dips such as the roast aubergine puree with cumin and coriander, salads of beetroot, honey and cinammon and of course the traditional savoury pastries are an absolute delight.

Main courses of meat, fish and vegetable kebabs or slow-baked tagines are cooked to perfection and served with the fluffiest of couscous although portions here are so generous, that many people will find just a few of the starter dishes will suffice.

The Drink
Deliciously opulent cocktails combine exotic fruits with ingredients such as coriander, ginger and rose petals and the wine list is well chosen and reasonably priced. After your meal don’t forget to sample the mint tea which is strong, sweet, and best enjoyed with a selection of baklava, pistachios and Turkish delight.

The Last Word
Glamorous and exotic, Pasha is full of Eastern promise. Beware the lack of air conditioning however on hot summer nights or the Morrocan-style dining experience may be more authentic than you intended.
