No stars. Mediocre food and the bill was full of mistakes..all in their favor..and they added on a service charge but there is no entertainment...a rip off, don't go
This must be the most bizarre dining experience ever. Went there one Saturday lunch time and we were the only party in the restaurant. Although, the Eastern European waitress was nice enough, she was clueless about the menu. I felt that she was trying to rush us throughout our lunch, even though there were no other customers there.
For example, five mins after our starters were bought out, she asked she should bring out the mains. After bringing out them mains, she asked if she should bring out the dessert. It's obvious that she has been 'trained' to maintain a quick turnoaround. The starters were alright but the mains were very poor, bland and tastless. I could have done a better job myself (no really!!). Take some chicken cubes and slab on some spice in a jar and but in the oven for 30 mins. Honestly, I have been eating in London restaurants for 12 years and this was one of the worst meals I've ever had. I've eaten some very good Middle Eastern food in North London cafes for £6, a large plate with generous portions and the meat juicy and tender and very tasty. I get the impression that this place is trying to be something it doesn't have the skills or experience to be but charging ridiculous amounts for rushed service and poor food. I agree with many of the negetive comments that I felt as though I had been mugged. And to top it off, after our meal we were still in the restaurant admiring the decor (which is the only thing that was nice). And all of a sudden we hear a commotion, four people including the waitress rushed out to the street. We went to see what the fuss was about, they all ran down one end of the street returned and then ran down the other end. It looked liked something out of the Benny Hill show. They had thought we had eaten and done a runner! All in all a very odd expericence and one that you should avoid!
A Friday night out with six friends should be one of fun and great food. The concept sounded tantalisin, but in reality turned out to be an expensive disappointment. Firstly the waiter got the drink order wrong, which didn't bode well. Secondly we were given a selection of bread and tomato soup in an espresso cup but was not informed that we would have to pay a cover charge of £2.50 for these item. The starters were reasonable, but three of us ordered chicken tagine. The chicken tagine lacked favour and didn't have the traditional tagine spices associated with the dish. The chicken was not browned and the potatoes were advertised as being saffroned but were in fact just boiled. We complained to the manager, to which he informed us that the lack of spice was because the pasha catered for the Chelsea tastes buds. He refused to accept our complaint and stated that he did not care to listen to our comments.
This place is nightime robbery.
I went there for a birthday meal with some friends last week.
We ordered the starters and mains.
The service was poor. I asked for regular tap water with ice which you would expect in a regular restaurant. They said they don't serve that and the only bottle of water they had was £4. Thats a rip off.
The food was not really morrocan at all. The tangine £18 is a rip off. This was like a chicken stew made with oxo. I think this place is good for the decor and the toliets are pleasant. But I woundnt go here again. They fool you by giving you olives, soup and bread on arrival again another cover charge, service charge and some sort of VAT. Its better to go somewhere else and where you will get your moneys worth.
Management arrogant beyond belive! Bland hospital food! Anything but moroccan! I went to Pasha for my friend's birthday party. Having read all the negative reviews, I still wanted to give Pasha a chance, hoping that other people simply had a one-off bad experience. How wrong I was! Every single negative review is absolutely true:- Starters were okay, mains were flavourless, bland and simply boring. They were more like hospital food than authentic Moroccan.- We paid about £70 /head, which included set menu and a moderate amount of wine / water.- Be prepared to pay £2 "cover charge" per person. When asked what that was, were told that it's a compulsory charge for bread. - We tried speaking to the manager, and also mentioned that the restaurant doesn't have very good reviewsonline, to which he replied: "i don't care!". We felt like tourists who were mugged in the back streets of Morocco.
It was quite bizarre - when we walked in, I was bowled over by how beautiful the place was: carved wood, Moroccan art, flickering candles, incense, rose petals on the table... We were given an extremely warm welcome (even though we hadn't reserved, on a Friday evening) and the waiting staff were very warm and friendly.
But the only available table for two was under a speaker and the music was so loud it was impossible to have a conversation with my friend sitting opposite me. I asked the waitress if the music could be turned down and she looked doubtful and said she'd ask the manager. Fair enough, they then did turn the music down a notch - for about 10 minutes. But then, without any warning, it was cranked back up to deafening levels for the belly-dancer show (which we hadn't been warned about).
For the next 15 mins I ate my food with my hands over my ears! I asked if we could be moved so we could actually talk to each other during the meal, but the waitress said all of the spare tables we could see (which remained empty until we left) were reserved. Just when we thought it was other, the (admittedly very talented!) belly dancer came back a second time to make conversation during dessert impossible too! When I asked the waitress how long the show would take, she shrugged and said that people regularly complain but there was nothing she could do.
Now for the food. We had a bowl of free olives, 3 small starters between us, a small main course, a plate of baklava to share and 3 cocktails each. The bill came to £117 including a £13 tip! We were charged extra for couscous, although our mains were already £17-18 each just for the meat and vegetables. The food was OK but really nothing special, which seems odd given the prices and the lavish surroundings. It seems as though the management of Pasha is concentrating all of their efforts on the wow factor and not enough on ensuring their customers are actually enjoying the food and the entertainment. Shame.
Word of advice... dont be fooled by the lovely interior! Starters were OK main dishes were tasteless and poorly cooked and also appeared to have the left over starters reappear on the plate. The belly dancing music was so loud I could not talk to the person next to me ( a good job as it was my girlfriend ). The wine list was poor and over priced. We paid around £900 for a rather poor meal and then were charged £10 for a slice of cake with a candle in after just paying for the main meal. Don’t bother going here but go to a quality restaurant as there are plenty in London without gimmicks but serve good Moroccan food.
This place uses electric hookahs, so if you are looking for proper shisha, avoid this place. Expensive too - 16 quid for shisha and 2 for service charge.
Place looks fantastic though I didn't try the food.
I must echo the other reviews. the restaurant definitely has the wow factor as you enter the restaurant, it is a great venue, great location and initial opinion on the place was all good. As soon as I received the menu the prices on the menu looked steep and above what I would pay for a place unknown to me. I had however avoid the negative reviews as my own cost as it was the only place available to me, as I was going to see something at the Royal Albert hall. Giving it the benefit of the doubt I went ahead and booked the place anyway & hoped to be proved wrong. I was far from proved wrong and hence feeling the need to voice my opinion and stress to every other hopeful, do not waste your energy.
The portions were small, the food over priced & the waiting staff useless. The sharing platter was hardly enough for 2 let alone 4 of us despite ordering a few other dishes. The only redeeming feature of this place was the decor and location!
i really enjoyed my time at pasha although we were having such a good time we ended up spending 2000 quid? belly dancers were jokes, the drinks were quite nice & the food was excellent. i highly recommend pasha for dinner or drinks.
Mugged! I went to pasha with a group of friends looking forward to a new experience in dining. The restaurant is located in a nice area of London and i was pleasantly surprised with the venue, the decoration and the layout appears authentic. certainly it’s a nice atmosphere and the staff are friendly and attentive so no complaints there. The main novelty of the place apart from the extravagant decor are the belly dancers who are also great, very friendly and engaging, asking guests to dance along. They are also very beautiful which is a bonus. again, no complaints about the entertainment which was top notch.
Now the bad bit. Upon opening the menu, everything appeared expensive with a choice of a set menu for £35 per person which had to be had by the whole table or individual choices with mains mostly priced around £15 -£18. For that sort of money, one would expect something rather special either in terms of quality or quantity. What was delivered was neither. We opted for the set menu for the whole table consisting of 5 small dishes to share, followed by a main then a desert. The starters that were delivered were barely enough for 2 people let alone for half a dozen. The mains were ordinary at best, but certainly not what one would consider restaurant quality food so highly priced. The one chicken dish they had was a slow cooked stew with vegetables and tasted like something you'd make when you didn’t want to waste yesterdays leftovers. Not particularly bad but certainly not food you go to a restaurant to eat. Finally, the dessert straight out of a packet from your local corner shop. Traditionally Moroccan it may be but for what it is, its a rip off. It’s a shame as it is a nice place and I was enjoying the evening. I did see the menu and knew what the prices were but having tasted the food, when the bill came, I felt like I'd been mugged. Food + 1 beer and a share of a large bottle of water = £52 per person! Will not go again!
