I visited pasta brown last week with my boyfriend. Service was disgusting, rude unaccommodating and when we asked about possibly not having mushrooms in a meal you would have thought I'd thrown a bottle of wine in the girl's face. For a small family run restaurant they should realise that customer relations and a good meal and experience is what will keep them afloat not rude service and disgusting food. My past was still hard with THE most sour bitter sauce i have ever tasted (my cat could cook better.) and my boyfriend's steak swimming in blood. When my boyfriend asked if his steak had been 'set' a process that involves resting the steak on a warm or heated surface so some of the blood drains away, the maitre'd replied. "Sir we get out meat in fresh we our a small London restaurant and don't have time for fancy techniques". Advice Pasta Brown = Make time.
I visited this restaurant last week whilst on my first ever visit to London.
I found this was in an excellent location, right in the heart of the theatre district and amongst an a la carte menu they offered a pre theatre special menu of either 1, 2 or 3 courses.
Opting for the 3 courses (I cant resist a pudding - especially when its chocolate fudge cake) I found it to be excellent value for money!
The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and we did not feel at all rushed or harrassed. Other couples and families were dining too, so this restaurant is suitable to all age groups.
If (When) I visit London again, I will certainly make a point of dining there again!
i had the joy of going to pasta browns last week.
myself and my sister loved it so much when we return to london, this will be on the list at least once.
the food was excellent, same with the staff and the service.can't wait to go back.
The food at Pasta Brown was lovely, but the service was comically bad as they tried to get people in and out as soon as possible. We really got a sense that they were just greedy and cashing in on the location. I think that from the moment we sat down at the table it took only about 40 minutes until they brought the bill, before I had finished my coffee.
We were still eating our starters when the mains arrived and they snapped, you done with these or not? And being rushed, I didn't notice that they had taken the liberty of adding £5.80 for service. So I will never ever return to Pasta Brown and I recommend everyone looking for a relaxed meal to avoid it. Impersonal and unwelcoming.
Despite the name, the pasta at Pasta Browns wasn’t brown – it was kind of a yellowy colour like it should be – not a singed edge in sight. It was pretty darn good too – especially liked the bolognese sauce – yum. Maybe Pasta Browns should change their name?
