I've been to penthouse a few times now and it has always been a good night. Great for RnB fans! Usually 4 rooms open a night with great music selection- DJ's always welcome requests also. Prices are reasonable for Leicester Sq. Good for a night out with no pressure!
Last night my friend reserved a table for his birthday, but what a surprise! the staff was rude careless, the manager served us and she was really rude since the bigining, I would spect it from a stuff member but not from the manager, I would recommend to any person to avoid this place, it's no nice to pay for such a service:(
I've been to Penthouse twice and enjoyed myself both times. I went this Friday and it was jam-packed with a good atmosphere...everyone was dancing non-stop and the drinks were flowing! A lot of guys were there, some were pretty aggressive and practically forcing you to dance with them, but you get that in most clubs anyway. Staff were pretty friendly and there's 8 floors for you to choose from. 6th floor was the most crowded with the best music on that night. Would definitely go again, and only paid £3.50 for my ticket (got a deal from the ticket office in Leicester Square).
I am very sorry to say I was disappointed with this club, I was warned not to go by numerous people but chose to go as I was impressed by the video I was sent by the club and the website. I went on new years and paid £40 plus booking fee (£2) for a ticket which I and my friends felt was a rip off seeing as though there was nothing special about the event at all it felt like a regular night with a quick new years eve count down. As I understand it if you go here on a regular night it costs up to £15 so not sure why it was that they charged £40 just as it was new years eve. I'm not sure what it was exactly we paid £42 for. The website and videos I viewed before deciding on this club gave the impression that this place was upmarket and had a strict smart only dress code this was false I saw people in there with jeans and t shirts. All in all was totally not what I expected and felt ripped off as the night was nothing special atall I did not even feel I was at a new years eve event. Will not go again!
Hate this place. Bar staff are rude all the girls try and flirt with the guys for tips its degrading,
Went here on new years and was very disappointed. Paid £40 plus booking fee (£2) for ticket and it was nothing special it didn't even feel like a new years event just an ordinary night. I was expecting more of a celebration to be honest. The dj repeated songs and even the countdown went very quick no real build up or anything. I feel it was a total rip off and don't understand what we paid the extra £25-£30 for baring in mind a normal night is £10- 15 to get in. Also on the website and on the YouTube video this club has, they seem to profile themselves as a high profile, exclusive, smartly dressed type of club but to be honest most people weren't even dressed up I saw guys in jeans and t- shirt. The website and info doesn't reflect what this club is like at all. I should of listened to people I knew who said not to bother with this club but I guess I had to learn the hard way. Will not go back!
Went here for the comedy club this Saturday - absolutely brilliant, I can see why they won Best London Comedy Club! A cracking birthday night out, my compliments to the staff!
Horrific place!complete waste of time! been there twice, both times same deal...staff are rude...music was crap...the people there were VERY intent on starting unnecessary fights....
Staff are extremely rude! Don't know who they think the are, at the end of the day they're just doormen! Go elsewher!
Warning;
The Wednesday Night parade for the overpaid and braindead leeches and parasites is called "London Rocks". Althought it's in London it certainly doesn't Rock. Black soul, Hippity Hop, oap-school dance, and generic club music isn't Rock and doesn't rock.
If you want to Rock, go north to Camden and meet and dance with the real Rockers.
A Great Thursday night out for my mate's birthday.
Arrived with a mixed group (6 girls, 6 guys) between 23.00/23.30, and although a few of us had bought entry online, I spoke to the manager who was happy for us all to get in for free which was wicked (I think getting there early helps)
- Great music all night (Commercial Hip-hop/R&B, old school, etc)
- Bouncers and staff were all polite to us, and espesh Jo @ the door. No problems at all with the bouncers (we were all dressed smart, guys in suits, ladies in dresses).
-One of the first to arrive but we got the party started and were one of the last to leave.
-Drinks standard london prices
-Cloakroom 2quid per item
Conclusion: we all had a great night there and even though only 1 floor was open (floor 6) we were happy with the music and the general ambiance :)
Only downside was it closed at 3am (thought it was 4am) but we found an after party.
It was my 2nd time here, and will be back, standard good night out.
Oh and yeah the views are pretty cool :)
I got in for free which was a bonus. Drinks are average price for most London clubs but really weak. Went on a Wednesday night and it was a bit empty to be honest so wasn't at its best. Also on leaving the club our night was ruined by a racist attack in the lift which left the night on a sour note
On another night it could have the potential to be amazing as the interior and the view are amazing, and the music was ok too.
I had a fantastic N. Y. E at the Penthouse. I got there early as advised so didn't have to wait in line. I found the staff to be really fun and I don't really understand the reviews that say otherwise as I never saw any of that. I can only say good things about the penthouse. All of my friends had a wicked time and when we left the door staff helped us find a taxi. But not only that they helped me with finding my jacket as I had stupidly managed to lose it. I was so thankful and it really was my own fault so they. I can't wait to go back and neither can any of my friends. I truly rate Penthouse London and can't recommend it enough. Xx Ms Hottie
Spent NYE at The Penthouse had a brilliant time, great atmosphere, great music and crowd was brill. I bought the V.I.P tickets so I had free champagne and very tasty canapes until after Midnight, as well as being able to go onto their balcony to watch the fireworks (which were amazing!!) Definatley coming back next year!
Paid for 3 v.i.p tickets which was about 465 pounds and didn't even get a table :/
very bad staff- not friendly at all
the "finest champagne" tasted like crap
no photographer in there or if it was then i didn't really catch up on one
no1 was allowed 2 go outside until they actually closed... if you wanted 2 have a fag u had to go to the terasse where they put security guards who stopped every1 who wanted 2 have a fag even though it was alot of space outside
i wouldn't recommend this club if you really want to have fun
Wouldn't go as far as 5 stars. 4 stars at the most. There is usually a bottleneck getting into the club but once you're in, its well worth it.
The music is good on both floors (Dance on one, commercial Rnb/Hiphop on the other) and the crowd is diverse and fun (sometimes clearly young)
I have had a decent night everytime I've been here.
I wouldn't say the staff are the the friendliest in the world but they usually have a lot of people to attend to as the club is usually packed, sometimes overcrowded in the Rnb room.
Drinks are clearly overpriced.
4 stars for the crowd, the music, the size and the good vibe
I really didn't like this club (although I'm not a fan of the whole Leiceister Square 'scene'...tourist hotspot and overpriced!). I have only been a couple of times, both on a Friday night. I feel the place trys to be something its not...its pretty tacky, alot of girls wearing short skirts, fake tan etc (probably because they tend to let these kind of girls in for free) and men that try and flash their cash (that most of the time they don't actually have) so girls if you like your drinks being brought for you by some old perv then this is the place for you!
I really had a wicked night at the Penthouse. I got on the guest list so getting in wasn't a problem for me and my mates and we didn't have to wait.
I can't say enough about it...it was wicked. The music was ace and there was something for everyone.
The staff were really friendly and fun and made great drinks.
I will be bad there again FOR SURE.

I came in for my birthday last week and had an absolutely amazing time! The restaurant had awesome food and service. The chef is brilliant! Everyone was quick and knew what they were doing. I had put myself on the guestlist but after dinner we were invited to the vip section of the club to drink and dance. We were given a table and partied the night away w/ the friendliest (and not to forget some of the hottest!) staff ever! Not to mention the views of London are spectacular! The London Eye could be seen and Big Ben! The club was packed and everyone seemed to be enjoying the dj. I definitely recommend Penthouse London for the London traveller!
Went the other night and had a great time! Buzzing atmosphere, friendly bar staff and funky music.
The views alone are well worth the visit; very special. These kind of places make you realise why London is the place to be :)
I never usually go on these but I am shocked as to what peoples bad experiances. I was in for a drink a couple of weeks ago and Kate Moss and Sadie Frost for chilling at the bar having a drink (yes I got my pic taken hehe) and not too long ago my friend scored with Flo Rida who was partying at the club. I don't go that much but the few times I have me and my girlies are always treated to vip and get free Champers and have an amazing night. Also the chef on the 7th floor restaurant is so cool! Ciao
I came here with work colleagues for a drink on Friday and was well impressed. This club has to have some of the most spectacular views in London. As we entered we were greeted by the friendly staff offered a seat. A few minutes later we were sipping on mojitos. A great way to start the weekend! I’ll be checking out the club this weekend.
i was recomended to have my birthday here by a friend so i booked a table and was really impressed! We had dinner and drinks in the restaurant and then continued into the club after. Food was great. music was great. Best birthday! thanks guys! I will definatly be going back!
Great food, great music, great view! Loved it!
great club what are these people on,its a proper nightclub ,people go there for the music, not like those clubs with no atmosphere, this clubs rockin ,great djs andy smith dean eg on sats, which i go to twice a month, was there last sat it was awesome.drinks are the standard club prices for a westend venue, cheaper compared to others.the music is urban floor 6 which i loved and my mates went up to the 7th floor for the house music, great variation.great people classy ladies a fav club of mine.
I went to this club on a Saturday to celebrate my birthday and i can honestly say that it was the worst decision I've ever made. We started with dinner and the service was ridiculously slow! We waited for our first drinks for 20 mins! I should have known from then that it wasn't going t be a good experience but as it was my birthday, i was determined to remain optimistic. 3 hours later, i was decidedly less optimistic but as the club had started, we decided to stay - another mistake (we should have paid and made a run for it! going to the wetherspoons around the corner would have been a better choice).
My friend and i got attacked by a butch lesbian bouncer in the toilets and then got escorted out of the club because we said we were happy to leave. During this time, both our phones went missing and it seemed that a whole delegation of bouncers was needed to escort 2 females out who wanted to leave!
DON'T go to this club. If you're after a good night, there are plenty of places to go to but this one should not be on the list.
Disappointed Birthday Girl
We went for dinner last Wednesday (25/08/10) and had a pretty bad experience. We got there fairly early before a show - table booked for 6.45pm - and the restaurant was empty. It was a cold wet day but the restaurant manage to put the air-con to a freezing temperature. In a nutshell, we went for the set menu to save time but it worked out that none of the three waiters managed to have all the info. Every time we ask for a piece info (do you do Virgin Mojito? What is the soup of the day? What is the pie of the day? Etc), the waiter needed to walk to the kitchen to ask, which took 5 minutes each time. Other issues with the wine (we ask for another glass of the same wine we had previously and the waiter asked us which one it was), the cutlery (we were given a desert spoon for our cheese platter) and when it came to the bill, we showed out Taste-london card, to which the waiter said that the menus were not part of (which we accepted fine) but then felt the need to say: "the menu is cheap enough like that", which I though it was very bad manners and pretty rude! On the positive notes, the food was fair (nothing really exciting), the dishes came fairly quickly and we were given a window table (as we were the only ones when we arrived), which gave us a nice view on Leicester Sq and some London landmarks. Therefore, the one star is for the view. Will not go back for sure as there are many better restaurant, with trained staff who knows what they're doing or at least who have a minimum of manners.
Fully of extremely pervy, sweaty men. They pretend that the entrance fee is £15 but let me and my friend get in for £6 each because we were girls. Don't go if you're a vaguely attractive young girl, or you WILL get groped on the dancefloor
this was seriously the worst club ive ever been to. came here on a Saturday night about 12 and the entrance fee was extortionate - £15 per person. this was such a waste because i absolutely hated the music in the hip hop and rnb room. it was so crowded and sweaty - i couldnt believe people were dancing to such rubbish. it was so shit im glad i will never come back again!! ive never seen such crap people in all my life - chavs and pervs. i literally walked out about 10 minutes later. if you want a night full of leeches and perves desperate for to get some then come here. add this to pervy, weird and disgusting workers then please be my guest!
please dont waste your money here - i wouldnt even send my worst enemy here!
I have to agree with some of the posts below; the Penthouse is certainly NOT one of the worst clubs in London.
Particularly if you are looking for a hot, sweaty, commercial hellhole full of arrogant t*sspots, who are looking to either get laid or be spotted to appear on Pimp My Ride. In which case, it's practically heaven!
But in all seriousness, if you are a fan of the materialistic, overpriced environments that this club and clubs alike - Movida, 24, Merah (formerly known as Crystal) - promote, then this is most definitely the place for you.
It's a nice place but 2 things really annoyed me last night and hopefully by naming and shaming them something will be done about it.
1. The toilet attendant on the 6th floor physically stood in front of the door and tried to stop me leaving because I hadn't paid £1 to spray some deodrant (I gave him 40p which is more than enough!). He was also being abusive to someone just before that as they were walking out.
2. Two of the barstaff on the 6th floor tried shortchanging me delibertately and when I pointed it out thy sheepishly went back to the till and gave me the 15p (!) they tried to keep. One of them was a stocky oriental-looking guy.
drinks r expensive ,staff are rude,,and full of hungry men who behave like kids..not good for girls night out..

I had a lovely time at the penthouse with my friends and family. We had lovely food at the restaurant enjoying the tremendous views. The service could have been better, but overall it was OK as we had a blast in our group. We then hit the dancefloors and we enjoyed every moment of it.
I had a wonderful time at the Penthouse. I hired a table in the vip area and was looked after really well by everyone. I had dinner in the restaurant first with 10 of my friends and it was great, everyone went out of their way for me as it was my birthday. That was a month ago and now I try to go back at least once a month. For a west end club the prices are pretty much the same as anywhere else and in the vip room it is much less than other clubs I have been too. I felt really looked after and had no hesitation in paying service charge. I am actually going tonight because the vip manager and her staff are just great to me and my friends. I am also trying to organise a dinner party there for my boyfriend's birthday too as it was really reasonable. Also why did the man who said N. Y. E. Was so bad write it in march? Also how short was he not to see the fire works because it was a magic for me and I was treated fine.
I definitely would not recommend Penthouse London for New Years Eve. For many reasons:
1. they overbook the venue and there is no room to even walk around! 2. getting a drink will take you ages because there is only 2 bartenders behind each bar and 100’s of people asking for a drink. 3. even though we bought tickets in advance we had to wait in the same queue as everyone else. Also, just because we had tickets didn’t mean we were just allowed to walk in. We had to bring as many ladies into the club as there were men in the group. Which I totally understand the logic, however they should have censored that when selling the tickets online, not after. 4. the cloak check was full and we had to hold our jackets the whole night. 5. the bouncers were rubbish and the music wasn’t anything special. 6. they advertise that you can see fireworks at midnight; however, there are soo many people in the club that you can barely see the window.
Tremendous atmosphere, crowd and DJs across three unique floors. Amazing views over Leicester Square and iconic London sights along Westminster and Waterloo make this location London's best. Absolute must do for London clubbers.
I just wanted to counteract what the other comments seem to be stating, The Penthouse most certainly is NOT the worst club in London. I celebrated my 22nd birthday at The Penthouse on Saturday and i must simply say what great service from the front door, to the cloakroom, to the bar staff and to the security. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful, in particular when one of my friends lost her coat, we asked one staff member, who searched all through the club and actually managed to find it for her :) The drinks are well priced for London and service really does come with a smile. I never normally do reviews on websites but i had such an enjoyable and fun night i simply had to make a comment!! 10 out of 10!
On a night out with work colleagues and after a relaxing one-too-many wines at All Bar One on Leicester Square, a group of us ended up in Penthouse. The door staff have the attitude that you'd expect from a west end club; no character, no class and faces like smacked behinds. Saying that, we had no problems and got in with ease, it's just that the "I'd-Love-To-Smash-You-To-A-Pulp-And-Use-Your-Beating-Heart-As-A-Bassline" stares were slightly off-putting.
The lift up to the aptly named Penthouse creates a grandeur that is shattered the moment you enter. The superficial class created by a cacophony of leather, mirrors and bad attitude is only counteracted by the fantastic view of London from the top floor. This is the only reason to visit this club in my opinion.
The music supposedly varies from floor to floor, though I felt it moved only through sub genres of R'n'B and Hip Hop. Monotonous after a while, unless ofcourse you belong to the regular clientele, who desire to be cool and sexy with their crotch grabbing and grinding.
The drinks are overpriced (though in fairness, something has to pay for the spot on location and overhyping promotions staff), the only friendly member of staff is the lady in the toilets who sells you perfume and you're not likely to get a drink in the whole quarter of an hour you're likely to spend in this place, since the bar queues are absurdly long.As I said, the views make it, which is why I graced it with two stars. But the London eye is better and less offensively and unnecessarily arrogant; go on that instead.
