Amazing, the staff were first class, friendly, helpful, beautifully mannered, the ambiance fabulous, the food was just out of this world, this is the best food I have ever had in any dining experience and I have eaten all over the world...I met the chef who was just the nicest person, truly a wonderful, wonderful time.....10/10
We went to Petrus having heard great things of it but weren't sure whether it could live up to it's billing. Well it did and we had an amazing evening. From the friendliness of the waiting staff to the quality of every piece of food we were served we could not fault Petrus. We visited on a Saturday evening and our guests were over half an hour late joining us but, despite our agitation as we knew they were fully booked, the staff put us at ease and didn't put us under any pressure to take our seats. We made ourselves at home in the seating area and indulged in a few drinks along with their salt & vinegar and lemon & pepper popcorn. A really nice introduction to the restaurant standards. We discussed our budget for wine with the sommelier prior to our guests arriving and she discreetly handled this when making recommendations later.
Once we were seated we had the option of a 5 course tasting menu or the 3 course main menu. We all opted for the 3 course. Between us we tried the foie gras, langoustine tails with watercress soup, tomato and crayfish salad and the tuna tartar. Not a speck of food was left on any plate. For mains two of us shared the Beef Wellington special (unluckily for our guests we had the last serving as it had been so popular), our guests had sea bass and pork fillet. Again no fault could be found with any of the dishes. If I could have politely licked my plate I would have! The sommelier had recommended two reasonably priced wines and both complemented the foods well.
For dessert we opted for a cheese plate, orange meringue pie and marinated pineapple. Dessert wine and port recommendations were perfectly matched to the course. This was followed by a huge brandy selection.
A number of amuse bouches were also served between courses and every one was exquisite.
We enquired about the Chef's table and the staff were only too happy to take us down there after our meal.
Overall we could not fault our visit to Petrus. Sometimes "posh" restau
We were luckily enough to be taken for lunch at Gordon Ramsay’s Petrus last Thursday. I will begin by saying that his front of house team was exceptional. They were friendly, polite and very at tentative to our needs. The food itself was fantastic in both quality and presentation. I personally chose the mackerel for a starter, the sea bass for the main and crème brulee for desert. I was however not the biggest fan of the large glass wine cellar in the middle of the restaurant, but that is down to personal taste. Overall, I was very impressed with Petrus and will be taking my son there for his birthday.
Me and my partner dined at this fine restaurant on Tuesday evening. We had a wonderful time. The food was 10/10, ambience 8/10 and service 10/10. We had the experience of being invited down to have a tour of the kitchen, which was very exciting. I have never been down to a professional kitchen before. We were introduced to the Chef and taken around the difference sections of the kitchen. Overall it was a fantastic experience and will definitely be going back.
