I have no words to describe how I DISLIKED this place. I went with my dad who came to Italy because we would have liked to have a nice Italian dinner in the centre. We had had a look at the website and menu online and thought it looked a nice restaurants. We could have not been more wrong than that. Food was terrible. I had a cordonbleau shaped like an enormous ball and heavy like hell. My dad had ravioli with bolognese sauce which were overcooked. The house wine was impossible to drink. We asked for desserts and they were cold, heavy and obviously not home-made.For what concerns the staff, they were not nice at all, kept asking questions about the order which they could not remember, but the most annoying thing is that the restaurant was almost empty so they (3 waiters) spent the evening standing next to our table and WATCHING US EATING, which I think is the most distressing thing that a waiter can do to a client.Overall it was also quite pricy and definitely not worth it. I do NOT recommend this place to anyone - save your money and eat home, I am sure the food will be higher quality..
We ate at Piccadilly Italian restaurant as a party of 6 on Saturday evening 26th Nov 2011. I suspect this restaurant doesn't rely on return custom, but manages to survive because of it's very central location by Soho and the theatre district. We will NEVER eat there again! Here's why:
- The food was not of good quality or flavour.
- incredibly overpriced! e.g. £11 for a vegetarian lasagne (same price as for meat!), £20-£25 for a steak & chips, £3.95 for the smallest glass of Budweiser beer ever (certainly no bigger than a half-pint glass). In fact everything on the menu was overpriced! With only no starters, 2 side dishes, 2 people drinking and 2 having dessert, the bill still came to over £30 per head.
- On top of this they add 12.5% service charge to every bill (the table next to us refused to pay as the service had been very poor).
- We asked if the veg lasagne contained mushrooms and said we were asking because my wife is allergic to them, waiter said, 'no'. Half way through eating it, noticed many large pieces of mushroom! They changed her meal but didn't really apologise and still charged us for it! (BTW vegetarian lasagne is not tasty either and had very little pasta in it, seemed to be mainly soya mince with cheese on top).
- Poor service generally
- one of the coffees ordered didn't arrive, we had no way of telling if we had been charged for it or not as the bill was not properly itemised.
- cramped, dark and unattractive interior
- dirty toilets
Other than that, we had a lovely evening with our friends! LOL! I don't think any of us will make a return visit.
Can only speak for myself but the worst restaurant I've eaten in in Central London. The food was unpleasant and arrived far too quickly to have been anything other than microwaved and it left my husband and I both feeling queasy. The prices were high and the service, for which a compulsory 12.5% is added to the bill, disinterested and poor.
I went to this restaurant on the basis of reviews I had read which seemed to suggest that the food would be good and that there would be a nice atmosphere.
This restaurant is massively disappointing - in short, over priced, distinctly average (at best) would be the best accolade the food could expect. Service was also poor, we ordered garlic bread which did not materialise for a long time and when it did it was a child size portion for a child with a small appetite.
My Mother ordered the bolognese ravioli and my Grandmother, the cannelloni. Both of these dishes were really quite unpleasant, re-heated and greasy. My squid was cold and served with a side salad swimming in water and oil.
The main issue I had with this restaurant were the prices. The clear profit margins on the dishes must be spectacular as the ingredients are poor quality, yet the prices are high - £8.95 for a Insalata Tricolore, which was nothing special. Clearly the aim is to rip the customer off as much as possible.
The only positive point I could mention was that when we informed the waiter that we were not prepared to pay for the main, he did not cause as much of an argument about it as I would have expected.
I went to the restaurant last night with a friend and the service was exceptional, food was lush but the only thing which was a negative was the price. Even with the View 50 % off food it came to £75 which included a bottle of wine £20 and three courses.
I would say it was just about worth that price but would no way have paid over £100 just for the food.
Would have complained but I was with a girl so.....
Probably the most uncomfortable restaurant I have ever been to. It felt as though the waiters were talking about you and laughing behind your backs, one of the waiters was extremely rude and pervy and wouldn't stop staring at my girlfriend.
We only stayed for drinks because of the dull and uncomfortable atmosphere, and even they were flat and cost £6 for two small cokes.
Definitely avoid as its not worth the money and the waiters are not welcoming at all.
I went there this week with a friend to take advantage of the Toptable discount, and with that taken into consideration, we were pleased.
I had the Tricolore salad as a starter - the avocado was fresh and there was a lot of it.
My friend had prawns, since I don't like them I'll take her word for it that they were okay.
For mains, i had the chicken kiev type thing, it was only okay, my friend also had chicken but she loved hers.
Vegetables were extra. With a bottle of wine (20) and service the bill was £47.
It would not have been worth an extra 25 or 30 quid.
Note: our service was impeccable, from the waitress and from the bar manager.
we booked this restaurant on Thursday's night for our group of six persons and we were not disappointed.
the food was excellent and of good portion. great wine selection indeed which we enjoyed so much.
the waiters were efficient and friendly and the Italian background music were a mix of opera and modern options.
this restaurant is different from any other in the way it is set with its wood panelled walls and photos of famous celebrities who dine there decorating the walls.
great Italian experience right in the heart of Soho theatre land in London. great find!!!
I was looking for a cheap and cheerful sort of place in central london to have supper with an old friend so I turned to a restaurant booking website I’d used before.
The Picadilly was in the right place (on Great Windmill Street, just by Picadilly circus) and had 50% off food so I booked it.
I wasn't expecting anything grand but this place was not very good at all. The atmosphere is homely and cheap which is fine by me.
The service was fairly efficient but not at all friendly, the staff didn't seem very interested.
But it was the food that really disappointed me. The bruschetta we ordered for a starter was fine, but nothing special, I probably could have made it myself.
The asparagus risotto we both had for our main course was really bad. It was really creamy but not in a good way and the asparagus was pretty soft, I love risotto but because of how this one was prepared it reminded us both more of rice pudding than risotto.
We both tried to be polite about it for a while but neither of us could finish it. The tartufo we shared for pudding had so much rum in it that it made us both feel like we were doing shots at a bar: not very nice at all.
In their defence it had said on the menu that this pudding was 'for adult tastes', but I sort of think that instead of warning your customers that the food isn't very nice, wouldn't it just be better just to improve it?
Finally, the bill. After the discount, it still came to the£30 for two courses and two cokes each. Not very good value at all.
This is the worst restaurant i have eaten at in a long time, and the only one i have left without eating or paying for dinner.
The waiters were incredibly rude and unfriendly. They could not advise us on the dishes on the menu, they bought over the wrong wine and the wrong type of water, and the olives we ordered never materialised.
The food was simply horrible - it arrived within 2 minutes of ordering so had obviously been zapped in a microwave. The meat was old, greasy and smelt horrible, and the vegetables were over cooked to the point of disintegrating.
Please don't waste your time and money coming here.
lovely restaurant managed and run by friendly and happy staff. we had great time on our wedding aniversry party.food was delicious and the atmosphere was amazing. thanks for making our day so special.
Dissappointing Dinner. I was taken on my birthday by my family but this restaurant did not live up to expectations. The service was fine but I did have to ask for the wine I had ordered while everyone else has their drinks. The starters were good but service was a little delayed, the bread was not warmed and their were only crusty rolls which I do not like. The rolls used for my pate were crusty rolls toasted so too hard. We were a party fo 5 and only 2 main courses were good. My Veal was far too salty, the breadcrumbed chicken which was stuffed with ham and cheese had been deep fried so was very greasy and the cheese had not melted, also the pasta was dry!!! We had to leave for a theatre date so did not have time to try desserts, but all in all not a restaurant which we intend to go back too. Shame as the staff seemed so nice.
Piccadilly Restaurant is a lovely restaurant. I agree with the previous review, this is one of the best Italian restaurants in london.
The Piccadilly Restaurant is London's best Italian Restaurant. Fantastic food, great specials and the house wines are some of the best I have ever tasted.
Good prices and service that's second to none, I've been eating here for over 29 years and it's still as good as it has ever been.
Piccadilly Restaurant is a nice Italian restaurant in a great location in the centre of theatreland. It has delicious and traditional Italian dishes, amazing house wines, excellent service by smiling and friendly staff. It is great value all round and a truly pleasant experience. We will go back to Picadilly Restaurant.
For an Italian restaurant, Piccadilly Restaurant sure know how to pick a not particularly interesting or relevant name. And seeing as Piccadilly Restaurant
couldn’t be bothered neither can I with finishing this review...
