Found this place after looking on line for some where to eat after seeing a show in london on 17-Sep-11.
Had a lovely meal, and the staff were very warm and friendly.
My only moan was that we automatically had a service charge added of 10% (£18) added to the bill which I personally hate. Otherwise bill was very reasonable for 7 people
Would eat here again

I went in here late one evening mid-week for a light meal (if it is indeed possible to do that in a traditional Italian restaurant) and was impressed by the authenticity of the cuisine and the sheer number of Italian waiters an waitresses present. The service was very good and the number of Italian people present (both working and dinning) simply added to the atmosphere. The food was very reasonably priced and whilst it wouldn't receive Michelin stars, you got what you paid for: good honest Italian food - with a good wine selection to boot.

It is very hard to fault Piccolo Diavolo. What do you look for when you go out for a meal? Good food, great service, friendly staff, warm atmosphere, sense of occasion and all at a price that won't make you gasp when the bill arrives. We arrived at 6.30pm thinking that we didn't need to book a table on a Thursday, wrong. The place was packed, and it's easy to see why. Even so they set another table for us within a minute of arriving and so the tone was set. Attentive, smiling staff made sure we had what we wanted without disturbing our conversation. The menu is extensive and the portions are generous, I thought the tiramisu I ordered was for the two of us. The trout I had and the veal that my partner had were delicious and served promptly. This is a place that is used to providing pre theatre meals so they are used to getting your meal for you in time for your show. The pre theatre dinners went to see their show and we carried on at a leisurely pace enjoying the authentic Italian surroundings and a few more glasses of wine. The whole experience was worth far more than the bill price, I was happy to leave a big tip and yet including this I paid just £60. If you are looking for a formal, big occasion meal then there are other places like the Ivy that you could go to but expect to pay twice as much for this. The friendly, family feeling that Piccolo Diavolo provides will give you everything else you could ask for. The great service didn't finish after we left, my partner left her handbag on the table and one of the male waiters came running out the door and up the street to give it back, much to the amusement of the group of Italians stood outside. We will be back.

We were looking for a restaurant near the Palace Theatre and found this one, conveniently close, on the Internet.

From the moment we arrived we were made welcome by the friendly and enthusiastic waiters, who tried to guess our every need before we could ask.

They called us by our first names, advised us of house specials and could not have been more helpful.

The meal was excellent and the other diners all chatted as the evening progressed. They discovered that it was a birthday celebration and gave the complementary desert with a renditioning of 'Happy Birthday' in half English, half Italian.

The bill was a pleasant surprise, as the meal was inexpensive and I will book again every time I visit London!

One description said it was like a visit to the restaurant in 'Lady and the Tramp', which was very accurate. Ten out of ten for food, service, quality, ambiance and value.

Piccola Diavolo is your basic bog standard Italian place. Pizza – check. Pasta – check. Greasy waiters – check. Now if only Piccola Diavolo would draft in a couple of naked marble statues or something – that’s the kind of thing I like!
