I know I have left a review before, but Pizarro i heard on twitter is now doing Sunday Brunch, which last Sunday we were down for, and we were not disappointed. Usually i spend about £10-£12 for breakfast, but here (water free) is was spending £6-7 (apart from the coffee), and were treated to a Spanish brunch, and wow come and try!
We tried to get into Jose just after 6pm but already full and had people waiting, so walked down the road to Pizarro, half an hour the place was full, of young educated professional, so we were slightly out of place! But the food was, and Jose, even though he was very busy still made time for us! the food was fantastic, especially the lambs tongue hmmm... Also they don't charge for the water or bread, now this I like!
We ate at Pizarro's on thursday evening and after a rocky start we were pleasantly surprised by the staff's attentiveness. We had booked a private room for the event and as we were a small group enjoyed supping at a round table, enabling us to enjoy one another's company to the full! The spanish dishes were delicious and a sip of one or two of the sherries on offer promoted a feeling of warmth and conviviality! The only drawback was the heightened sound of merriment just outside the room. Two large doors not quite closed softened the "noises off".

Being a huge fan of Jose, Jose's fabulous tapas bar (and by that I mean a 'proper' tapas bar), I have been gleefully awaiting the opening of Pizarro. And I was most certainly not disappointed.
To reduce the possibility of having to wait for a table we arrived at just after 6.30 on a Monday night, and just as well we did as it was soon full. The decor is minimal yet cosy, and the welcome and service is as warm as you'd like on a wet Monday night in December.
Presented with olives, bread and radishes shortly after being seated, the olives (from Seville, I believe) were the best the other half had had (not a fan of olives myself), and we were recommended some sherry to start.
Foodwise we opted to share a couple of the smaller plates/starters, and then the mains as well. Oh my....the blue cheese croquetas are to DIE for. How they manage to create such a fluid, oozy centre in such a fine, crispy shell, I've no idea. But I want more. The prawns with ham, chilli and garlic were just as good. For the 'mains' Jose had recommended the hake, so we plumped for that, and I'd caught sight of the lamb with lentils and simply had to try some. It was all absolutely delicious, we really couldn't have been happier. And I should point out that it was all incredibly reasonably priced (including the bottle of Cava that was recommended to us).
I urge everyone to go to Pizarro! It may be a little out of the way but it's absolutely worth the visit....perhaps drop by Jose on the way there...
I saw on twitter Jose saying that he was doing a soft launch starting Thursday, so i went along with my wife Saturday arriving 5 minutes before opening at 6pm i was surprised to see already a dozen people inside getting seated already! Had a quick chat with Jose who was telling me how overwhelmed by the number people and had done 250 covers on Friday. I was now very glad we had turn up early as the of people turning up was a amazing.
Anyway to the food, i was still in tapas mood even though this more a traditional restaurant, with starters, main course and dessert, so of course we started with 4 starters all excellent but the stand out best was the squid hmmm the best i have had in London, try it fantastic, we shared a main which was the lamb again excellent.
Now remember this is a restaurant you cannot book but with 80 covers plus approx your chances of getting in here compared with Jose just up the road are considerable better, but both do food to die for, i have certainly found the place i want to celebrate my next birthday!
