A pearl in the ocean! through the doors of Potemkin you are whisked from the grey streets of london and hurtled into deepest Russia. Upon arrival you are treated as returning royalty and served with feasts of russian cuisine! the final glorious addition to a wonderful experience is the vast vodka selection that just adds to the beautifully warm experience. a must before the swathes of suits and shareprice chasers descend and pollute the outstanding potemkin
A friend of mine suggested that we try Russian cuisine and not knowing where to go we googled and found Potemkin. The beautiful blonde waitress suggested a dish she called pelmeni of which the nearest comparison is Italian ravioli. This is served with a sauce rather like mayo but quite thick and for extra pungency she suggested a slight mix with mustard. It blew me away! It was so tasty I have arranged my birthday party at the Potemkin.
I found the staff attentive and the atmosphere quite relaxing. It's a small restaurant and you get a feeling of being at a home away from home. For me, Potemkin is a gem yet to be discovered by the masses.
The Potemkin has absolutely fabulous cuisine; the Cossack Lamb Casserole is a personal favourite! To say the vodka menu is extensive is an understatement! There is vodka in that menu which will suit everyone’s taste! The Georgian wines are not to be missed either, they're excellent!
I've always wanted to go to Russia, but multiple Bond films have taught me it's a scary place where men in furry hats trade microchips and wield kalasnikovs. So, that's why I come to Potemkin instead - all the cuisine with none of the worry. As well as the obligatory vodka, Potemkin do the best baked quail ever.
Divine.
Potemkin has fabulous food in a nice relaxed atmosphere. The cured herring and Cossack lamb casserole are personal favourites. The staff are courteous and not overbearing. Russian cuisine is excellent and reaches far beyond Borscht alone. Try it you will be pleasantly surprised, the Gergian wines are also of a very good quality. Not forgetting that the vodka menu at Potemkin is extensive. You couldn't get through them all in a week!
The Potemkin is the first Russian themed bar I've been to. They have Russian beer and, of course, vodka. The restaurant is pretty good as well.
I would recommend Potemkin for something different.
This restaurant has a great ambience, very good service and real Russian food to die for. Highly recommend to all lovers of Russian culture/food.
