Redwoods Bar and Diner is a friendly Canadian restaurant located in the heart of Chingford, providing a place for shoppers to unwind and diners to enjoy a well cooked meal or snack.

The Venue
Redwoods Bar and Diner is light and airy with plenty of outdoor seating and full length windows open during the summer. The restaurant is decorated with a range of Canadian baseball and hockey memorabilia and even has a distinctive tandem bike hanging on the wall. The historical maps and street signs on display link back to this area of East London marking the British and Canadian influences seen here.

The Atmosphere
This venue has wide appeal with people taking advantage of offers such as half priced meals between 4pm to 7pm Monday to Thursday, and elderly ladies popping in for a refreshing cuppa and a Danish pastry, happy to dine on their own knowing staff will make them welcome.

Redwoods Bar and Diner is a relaxed restaurant - the staff are friendly and approachable but are also happy to leave diners to enjoy their time here. It can get very busy during lunchtimes, especially at weekends. A selection of ‘80s and ‘90s pop can be heard on the radio. Groups of yummy mummies visit to catch up while youngsters enjoy a wide selection from the children’s menu. This is definitely a child-friendly venue.

The Food
Redwoods Bar and Diner strikes a perfect balance between simple British dishes and Canadian specialities. Large club sandwiches with fillings including chicken and bacon and tuna are served with fresh salad and fries and can be increased further in size for two to share.

Starters (starting from around £3) include crispy coated mushrooms with a soft and creamy aioli dip and garlic bread. Burgers are something of a speciality here with a quarter pounder of 100% quality Aberdeen Angus burger served in a warm floured bun with ample salad available from around £6. Other options include a selection of steaks cooked to preference, large jacket potatoes and fish dishes such as cod cakes. Specials are available and these change daily, but include options such as Thai green curry, a sweet creamy dish made with tender chicken pieces with a subtle hint of lemongrass and tangy citrus served with light rice, or a simple old favourite of rich spaghetti bolognese and chips.

The menu offers over 10 breakfast and brunch options such as a full English (which comes as a small dish or a larger option with two of everything from seasoned sausages to homemade potato bites) pancakes with sticky maple syrup or baguettes including BLT and veggie choices. There is a selection of three-egg omelettes, served soft and light with fillings including mushroom and cheese, with a choice of salad, homemade fries or a jacket potato. Sharing platters are available, as are bowls of nachos with cheese, sour cream, tangy salsa or thick guacamole toppings.

The half-priced breakfasts served between 9am and 10am daily offer exceptional value. Those with a sweet tooth can enjoy a Danish pastry and a cup of tea for £3 and other pastry and dessert options such as ice cream and maple sugar pie are also available.

The Drink
There is a small bar located next to the entrance to Redwoods Bar and Diner, with crisp Budweiser beer on draught and a small selection of red and white house wine, priced around £3 a glass. The bar also carries a range of ciders, spirits and continental bottled beers. There are a wide range of coffee options to choose from as well as traditional English and fruit teas. Fruit juices such as J20 and freshly squeezed orange juice are also available.

The Last Word
Redwoods Bar and Diner is a fun and friendly restaurant. Deals on evening meals and a wide selection of simple dishes make this a place that diners will want to revisit.
