Sumptuous, elegant, like having dinner with royalty

Service was unwavering. Anyone complaining about poor service in English restaurants needs to come here and bask in the superb mastery of waiting.

Tradition is very important here and so it bloody should be. It might seem pouncy to some but if you don’t like that kind of environment then go to Pizza Express and have done with it.

The food was impeccable. We had six courses all of which had their own flare; it was just the right amount of food which satisfied without the guilty of over indulging in rich food.

Their signature cocktail was a delight which encapsulated the Ritz’s glitzy personality. Pieces of gold, champagne and sugar. Pure luxury.

The Ritz has only one let down and that is its choice of music. They had a pianist and a string quartet churning out bad pop music which clashed hideously with the ambience and general dining experience. For god’s sake if you’re going to embrace tradition, pomp and ceremony, go all the way. I would have preferred some Chopin or Rachmaninoff. It would have been far more complimentary.
