I USED to love the Savoy, I spent 35 years of my life there, every week for lunch or tea or dinner, it was my head office, the staff were wonderful, the food under Anton Edelmann amazing - but now - the atmosphere has gone, it is like a cruise ship, and just as bland. I never liked the Grill as much as the River Room, and I would never eat there under Gordon Ramsey's aegis - he a mean Chef and it shows in his food and his bovver boy attitude.

NO, I went there for the relaunch and never again, yes it is beautifully done in a showy Saudi way, but not for me I am afraid. The Ritz is the place, and many of the best staff from the Savoy are there, that says it all.
