I will never go again , we didn't even gain entry ! Despite being a member and on the guest list we were told to wait in the rain while people came and went , when one of my friends got annoyed (she had travelled from Bristol) we were told that we weren't coming in , I have since been barred . It's off to the Octave and the 606 for me !

Stay away from there, it is not ronnie Scott's anymore...
overpriced, stuck-up, very poor food and drinks(nothing new here, but now you pay 3 times the price), i could go on like that for a while.
It used to be a gem, but now even artists do not feel comfortable there...
Thanks God the house band tries his best, but for the price we paid for the evening, it is not enough.
to finish the staff seems clueless and not trained at all...
Bring back the old atmosphere, please

Being a jazz aficionado I regret to say I will NEVER set foot in Ronnie Scotts again.
First I can never forgive them for the way they snubbed me when I was a poor struggling student and could not find it in their heart to allow a low-earner like moi to mix with the elitist snobs frequenting this joint.
Secondly, with its overpriced programs and menus and consistently low-value-for-money food and drink, it has long ago lost the cosiness and intimacy you'd expect from a jazz club.
Jazz music and rich upper-middle-class white folks? Defeats the whole object if you ask me. To me Ronnie Scotts has lost its early day charm and have been surpassed by far more superior and less pretentious venues. It is a dinosaur waiting to topple and die.

Visited Ronnie Scotts for the first time for research purposes and was massively underwhelmed. Queued in the street and herded in for the late set. No issues with space or view but service was an utter disgrace. One frankly useless waiter between the thirty of us crammed into the new side 'pews' is simply not enough, and it was a good half hour to forty minutes before we were able to make a drink order.

The music was good enough, thought the audience engagement was not what you'd ecpect form a jazz club. A night if mambo and Latin Jazz with Snowboy the conga player would have suited somewhere with a dancefloor fine. Unbelievably, when an enthusiastic Colombian punter started dancing in the aisle, she was ushered brusquely back to her seat by a bouncer.

Service continued to be dire all night, and we left before the end.

Disappointing.

I was a member of Ronnies for 20 years, but have only been once since Sally Green took over. It is far too over priced. It used to be Londons premier jazz club, but is now just a (fairly poor quality by most accounts) restaurant where the music is just regarded as incidental background. Better to go in a good restaurant where you dont have to pay £26 (minimum) to get in.
Reviewers seem to complain about the lighting, but how many proper music venues have bright strip lighting, which would be unpleasant for musicians and those there for the music not the food. Dear old Ronnie will be turning in his grave.

I had been to Ronnie Scotts a couple of years ago and did not have a good experience. I promised myself I would not go back there but a friend of mine was visiting from the States and pleaded that I take her there (apparently she had heard a lot about it in the States). Reluctantly, I agreed and was pleasantly surprised.

We had not reserved a table and missed the first session so got in for the second session. The door staff were professional. The venue had been refurbished, the seating plan changed and there is much better lighting than previously.
The waiter was friendly and agreed to mix a drink that was not on the drinks menu for my friend. The music was ok with a great crowd.

As we had not reserved a table, we were seated in one of the podium seats that was quite small especially for people with long legs.
Overall, it was a nice night and I may be going back to listen to Mica Paris on the 27th of Jan.

It is Ronnie scott's, but not as we know it... Although the music is still top notch, it is obvious that whoever runs it now has only money in mind. the management is unbelievably rude and useless, to the point where our waiter seemed genuinely embarrassed by them... Thanks God G Simcock liven up the evening. Jazz lovers in london know there are others venue to go...

Avoid the overpriced food! It's too dark to eat anyway, and the waitresses hovering around are a distraction to the music. The music is brilliant and the venue quite cosy and swanky. But a price tag of over £80 for the experience was a bit much.

Mica Paris 27th May 2007

Fantasic night at Ronnie Scotts, with Mica Paris and her band. The venue is a little too intimate though - our table for two was in front of a pillar obstructing the view and the food arrived cold and had to be returned - the table was just big enough but only just. I'm not sure what this venue is trying to achieve? It would be better serving cheap snack food rather then trying to serve restuarant food as the venue is clearly not a restaurant. It's a great shame they didnt move to a bigger venue for Ronnie Scott's like the place they used to have in Birmingham.

I was at Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club to enjoy the dulcet tones of Mica Paris, live, and was enthralled by her voice and band! The lighting at Ronnie Scotts has improved and was only dimmed before the second session began which meant guests had enough light and time to look at menus and order more drinks.

A win win situation for both guests and venue and to crown it all ever so wonderfully, Mica Paris. Ah, what a voice! Well done Ronnie Scotts jazz Club! I'll be back!

Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club is living on past glories, based on our experience. The lighting was very dim, the seating cramped, and the staff somewhat snobbish, in my opinion. The atmosphere in Ronnie Scotts was not helped by a couple of customers who behaved badly as a result of too much drink. Disappointing.

Anyone planning to visit Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club needs to be aware that their definition of a table may not be what you expect. If you arrive early you may get a proper table, but after these have gone, you are shoe-horned into what can best be described as a church pew.

Booking in for dinner does not guarantee you a proper table either. So if you were planning a romantic evening gazing into the eyes of your partner - think again. The management get around it by calling this pew arrangement a table, and they have conveniently shaped narrow plates that fit the shelf. They don't tell you this when you book and there is no price difference between a table and a pew.

On the positive side, the Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club staff are very professional and the service was good. The food was a reasonable quality, although our burger was a little salty.

I visited Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club for the first time in January. I loved the guest musician and his band and was enthralled by Ronnie Scotts All Stars.

I was however slightly disappointed by the venue after the rave reviews I had heard. The lighting in the venue is so dim that the menu is a strain to read. I think the words newly refurbished put the wrong image in my head. I will be visiting Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club again but only after a visit to the optician.

I had a fab time at Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club the other night. The National Youth Jazz Orchestra were playing and they were brilliant. It was such a great night, and I felt so inspired, it made me wish I had carried on playing the saxophone after I left school.

The price of Ronnie Scotts was a bit steep to get in, on top of the food prices, but it was worth it nonetheless.

Having visited Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club for many years, I remember being in awe of the talent on show and it saddens me to say that the club is not what it was. The refit is impressive and the interior is much nicer whilst maintaining the club feel. However, I thought Ronnies was here to provide the British public with world class jazz in an unpretentious club at affordable prices.

Membership used to be excellent value and now it seems Ronnies prices many out of regular attendance. The new owners seem to be feeding off the good name of Ronnie Scotts and in their mission statement they boast of the acts they have brought to the club. My fear is that the public will eventually get wise to this and the real jazz lover will start to look elsewhere.

The emphasis now appears to be on making money, and whilst £26.00 may seem reasonable, if you want a decent seat, you will have to order the three course meal, taking the cost to beyond £100.

Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club is a great club and night out. However, the food menu is an absolute rip off. £24.00 for two courses - you hardly even pay that in a Michelin star top restaurant. There is a very uninspiring choice for vegetarians too, who still have to pay same price for non meat dishes.

When you can go to the Pizza Express jazz cafe and have pizza, starter, pudding and a bottle of wine for that price you realise how very cheeky they are being to charge customers this to eat. I won't be going back to Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club unless they look into this as it just too expensive an evening.

I fear that Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club will go the way of Jazz FM now that the bean counters have taken over.

After 20 years of patronage and membership of the club, I was shocked as there was no seating when i got there! No one ever rocked up much before 9pm previously. Now you have to get there at 6pm to find a seat and they don't reserve any more, unless you want to pay £45.00ish for supper too.

There were only two bad bottled lagers on offer, but a tequila list of 10 plus brands. The sound was okay, but the whole place is a tourist rip off. Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club is a supper club for smooth fm listeners now.

Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club has great music and excellent service. It's very jazz indeedy, but be careful of the seating. 5-6 people seated next to each other behind one long table and facing diagonally towards the stage.

For good seats then I think you may want to choose the ones in the middle though they maybe for dinner only.

Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club is a great place to take jazz lovers, not a great place to take a date.

Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club hasn't changed that much in my opinion although the music is still as good as ever. This is real jazz, man. Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club is the real deal but they should lose the attitude!

I've heard Ronnie Scott's Club is relaunching tonight and I haven't been able to get a ticket. As a big jazz fan, if anyone goes along tonight please can you let me know if the new and improved Ronnie Scott's Club is so much better? Thanks!

What a terrible place Ronnie Scott's Club!! The seats are uncomfortable and the venue is full of smoke and this is complemented by outdated decor and rude staff! I took a friend for his birthday and was disgusted with the place. The music however was really great and it's just a shame that it was spoilt by everything else! Ronnie Scott's Club is terribly overpriced and I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy!

I went to Ronnie Scott's for my 21st birthday and it was awesome. I am a jazz fan but I usually go out celebrating birthdays in big dance clubs, and this was a real treat. It was expensive to get in, although smile sweetly enough when the manager is walking past and you might get lucky like we did!

The atmosphere at Ronnie Scott's Club was great, it was pretty busy so there wasn't anywhere to sit but it's so chilled out you can just get a drink at the bar and watch the bands. We also got talking to some of the players downstairs which was great because they're so interesting to talk to.

If you go upstairs there is a Salsa club which was also fantastic. Everyone was so friendly and willing to teach beginners! Two vodkas and lemonade weren't cheap, but it's such a great place it didn't bother us.

The main thing that stuck in my memory was the feeling of being in an atmospheric jazz club like Birdland, or at least how I would imagine Birdland to be. The musicians are excellent and you see a few famous faces sometimes when you're in there.

I would recommend Ronnie Scott's Club to anyone who likes jazz/ blues.

If you are in Soho on a weekend and stuck for a place to go then look no further.

Ronnie Scott's has rescued more disastrous nights than I care to remember.

The decor hasn't changed in twenty years and why should it? If your're looking for smoke filled rooms, whiskey by the jar and the most intimate live music venue in London - the search is over.
