I took my daughter and family here for a celebration meal, we had originally booked Brasserie Roux at The Sofitel run by Albert Roux but were contacted by them 2 days prior to eating to be informed that they were closed and were having a refit, so we could either still come to them in the Hotel exhibition room or be moved to Roux At Parliament Square. I am glad we did.
This was our first time there, and although it was half full the atmosphere was friendly and the waiting staff helpful. The food was, in our opinion exceptional, and we are foodies!
We will most definitely be returning again and thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for good food and a pleasant dining experience, we chose a couple of average priced wines and for the four of us it came out at £70 a head including tip.

We just come back from the restaurant with 5 of my friend . As we have that dinners club every week we go and experience different restaurants and write our views. As a ex chef i saw something disgusting it was on the 6 th October 2010 end of the dinner i saw a little mouse walking in front of me . first i thought that cant be real:( but unfortunately it was. For me that is not acceptable . i don't even have tolerance . i saw that 3 times. i went at the end to the manger. and told about that. And he was so relax about that.
All he did was instead of coming to us and apologizing he just took some of our drinks from our bill.
i will never ever go there anymore, and same with my friend. But at the same time it is a shame the service was great but not the food.I will tomorrow report that restaurant tomorrow as they should get proper inspection.

It is with great disappointment that I have to disagree with the other reviews - on some point at least.

I agree that the eight course testing menu - in the main - was excellent. The marinated English hothouse tomatoes, Ragstone, black olive toast was excellent - the intense flavour of the tomato water was remarkable, while the poached halibut was cooked to perfection (as Michel Jr might say on Masterchef). The pork main course was accomplished (the gnocchi a particular joy) and Amedei chocolate mousse, maple syrup, caramel foam, banana sorbet dessert was just the right size to avoid tipping me over the edge.

What spoilt this evening was the snooty and patronising service and the lack of atmosphere.

On arrival, we were told there was a problem with our table and shown to the bar. Not really a problem but as soon as we ordered drinks, we were told the table was ready and despite asking for a few minutes to enjoy our drinks, we were told so many times that we felt we had to go straight to the table.

What really annoyed me though was the speed at which we were served every course, which even led to a waiter telling one of our party she couldn't go to the toilet in between courses despite the fact she is six months pregnant. When we later asked for a little rest so we could enjoy it at a more leisurely pace, we were given a flat no.

While the food was great, it was not as memorable as the unpleasant service. A shame. I like Michel Jr very much from his TV appearances and was excited to be eating in one of his restaurants.

Roux at Parliament square made a big impression on me, and for all the right reasons. My partner and I both went for the 8 course tasting menu, and were literally blown away from start to finish. The Quail was absolute perfection; served with hazelnuts and a pomegranate reduction, the marriage of flavours was a masterstroke. The pork was another cleverly conceived and brilliantly executed dish – every element was a sensation; the texture of the gnocchi was absolute heaven, not to mention the heritage carrots which were simply the best I’ve tasted. We were interested to learn the head chef, Daniel Cox, grows a number of the herbs and vegetables himself, which explains the freshness and intensity of flavour. It wasn’t just the food that impressed, every element of the service was spot on, and the selection of wines, which we left to the Sommelier, suited the food perfectly. In summary, very impressed with this new opening, it wont be long before I’m tempted back!

What a wonderful addition to the Roux offer!
I had a fabulous meal and can only reflect everything in the main review. The young chef at the helm (?Dan) is bound for the stratosphere! My only suggestion would be to get in now while it is still quiet! Max

Stunning; the grey decor not suited to the flavour explosions. I was blown away last night by the experience, & I eat out often for work at Marcus Waring or Scott's. The welcome was warm & the menu varied. Flavours - intense, ribald, deep, rich, succulent flavours are what you savour w/each course. Before we even started, canapes were served; a gum-ball-sized doughnut of chicken liver and raspberry coulis (divine - I grabbed both) & an onion confit w/anchovy & (i think) a sliver of pate on a wafer cracker (didn't try; must share, my friend moaned joyfully so must have been good). An amuse bouche served next; slivers of scallop on fennel w/finely diced tomato & coriander leaf - all blended perfectly. My starter was tomato - what a range of flavours; I think there were four different tomatoes in the dish, w/a mild cheese, all covered in an intensely rich condensed clear tomato consomme. How he did that, I'd love to know. Really, it was an elixir of perfection. My main was pork; two small loin medallions alongside a succulent cube of belly, w/the best gnocchi I've ever had - laced with a mustard flavour they were superb w/the pork. Carrots & greens added colour & flavour, while a crackling stick added the texture- all so well prepared. My friend had lamb & barely spoke until finished, saying it was absolutely delicious, cooked (medium) to perfection. Then a pre-dessert (didn't know they existed) - Strawberry Pannacotta - heaven- a quenelle of fresh strawberry richness (speared by a meringue sliver) rested atop the pannacotta; that quenelle will long rest in my memory. Then to apple dessert; a intense dollop of green apple goodness was excellent with an apple pastry concoction (apple balls could have been cooked a bit longer, but otherwise great). Visual presentation all top drawer - surreal style on every single plate. Excellent wine chosen by the steward. A welcome addition to the area; I've booked to go back twice now; can't wait to be spoiled again.
