Went to the Hisaniola with a group of friends a couple of weeks ago.
The food was amazing. Portion sizes where really good and great value for money. The wine list was good and the puddings were delicious!
The staff where so friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. Having the piano player was so lovely too.
A lovely evening - with good friends and watching the world go by on the Thames.
Definitely recommend. Even great to go for a few drinks in the evening too!
A hidden gem
We went here last night, the food was extremely good but the whole evening was let down by the poor customer service. The waitress could speak very little English other than your welcome. When we asked for a beaujolais as with the meals we had to point to the menu. When the bill eventually arrived it had a £60 over charge. I sent it back and 20 minutes later had to go to the bar and question the amount. We were celebrating our anniversary. The manager offered us a complimentary glass of bubbly but it never arrived. I saw several people arrive and leave without ordering. No apology for the bill, we paid and were then late for our show. Food was good but we would not go back, most disappointing thing from a great weekend. Hope they get their act together for big relaunch in March, it was much better last time.
R. S. Hispaniola - Dirty food & dodgy scam (tourist trap)i found a little black line that looks like an eyelash / insect leg on the calamaries at R. S. Hispaniola today at lunch time. I reported it to the barman, he called a chef - they both saw it and the chef excused that it's a piece of cotton from his blue apron. He asked the barman to give me a discount, but the food had already been fully paid for in 'bar-style'. Second later, the chef left and the barman acted like nothing had happened. I demanded a refund for at least that dirty plate of food. The barman asked me to wait and took the "evidence" downstair. After at least 2-3 mins, another chef, a waiter and the barman came back with my plate of food - apparently, they had used all those time to remove that eyelash/insect leg like object and shamelessly asked me what's wrong with the food as they couldn't see anything! I was speechless - how dishonest and disgraceful! Being a tiny girl on my own literally cornered by three big guys who are clearly dodgy; and there is hardly any other customer on the upper deck of R. S. Hispaniola at Victoria Embankment - I prioritised my safety and just left the restaurant. Since I was misled by a 7.5 rating on a london restaurant review website, I felt obligated to tell the world about this 'tourist trap' - R. S. Hispaniola that serves dirty food and plays dodgy trick. What a shame on them - a gorgeous spot of a restaurant ship on the Thames in London is spoiled by a bunch of dodgy people that serves dirty food and unbelievably horrible customer service.
My boyfriend and I came here for my birthday meal on the 1st Auguts and were very impressed with... everything! The food was delicious and nicely presented. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff very friendly and helpful. The piano man impressed us also with his versions of up-to-date chart music! All in all... a very pleasant experience... not the cheapest place but worth every penny!
On Tuesday last, July 10th, I brought my husband and four friends for dinner at the Hispaniola. I hadn't spoken to anyone that had already visited the Hispaniola, had no pre-conceived ideas, just wanted to do something different. The evening exceeded all expectations, lovely atmosphere, it was perfect and I thank you all very much.
My boyfriend and myself had an amazing time aboard the RS Hispaniola last week. The food was delicious, the views impressive and the location is perfect. I highly recommend RS Hispaniola if you are looking for a romantic dinner on the river.
Definitely do not recommend the RS Hispaniola. I tried to make a reservation there a few weeks ago - suffice to say the whole thing was a farce from beginning to end.
Can't comment on the food as in the end we went elsewhere! Don't bother with the RS Hispaniola.
