What an absolute shambles! No wonder they wanted to transfer us to another restaurant. They had been overrun by a previous booking and should never have taken our money. They tried to squeeze all the pre-theatre bookings into a tiny, dark space. The noise was deafening, waited 20 minutes before we saw a menu, another 30 minutes for the starter to appear. (long time for a bowl of soup) At ten minutes to 7, we finally received our main course, with barely enough time to eat it before having to leave to get to the theatre in time. At least 4 tables of diners had to leave without getting the main course at all. The 2 waitresses were so unorganised, they were taking food orders on tiny scraps of paper and kept getting distracted and then forgot what they were going to do. Complete chaos.
Would never go there again.
Fantastic! I had my hen party here last Saturday night and after reading the reviews in the weeks beforehand, I have to say I was a little more than worried! Nothing could have been further from the truth - the bouncers and staff were fine (not quite sure what the other reviewers expect from bar-staff!?), the meal was fantastic, the DJ in the balcony bar was probably the best I have ever heard in a London club and the convenience of the balcony for smokers was great! Drinks prices were as normal for London so again so issues there! I would recommend this venue to future hens or anyone looking for an all round good night in London - don't be put off by the miserable reviewers!! A really good venue for anyone looking to dance the night away!
Went to the Ruby Blue night club last night! The worse place on earth. It was absolute GROSS! People working behind the bar gave us a limonade instead of a glass of a shot and a water instead of tequila. Bouncers were rude telling us to get out of the club. The problem started with the polish promoter who obviously doesn't know anything about this job... The whole club stank of sick.
You guys seriously need to sort this mess out!
P.S. I suppose people who visit London for the first time will be wile into this mess and they will regret visiting this venue for the rest of their lives. Yes,thats how frustrating I felt last night.
Thanks!
Great location - shame about the food and the staff.
You have to go into the club below to go the toilet. During the day this is acceptable but negotiating your way past drunk clubbers and bouncers after 10pm is not. The bouncers priority is the club and therefore the restaurant very much comes second. The food is ok at best.
Best avoided if you aren't going to the club afterwards.....
went to this club last friday and had a wicked time! me, my girlfriend and a couple of friends had never been before and thought we would see what it was like. good music, good atmosphere and overall a good night!
I went to this club with a group of friends and we ended up having a really good time! we decided to go for a meal first in the restaurant where we all agreed the food was really good and reasonably priced as well, then we went into the Balcony Bar where we danced to some of the music and those of us who smoked went onto the terrace.
Later on in the night we headed to the main bar area and had a dance on the dancefloor and enjoyed some drinks.
Overall i would recommend this bar to my friends as we had a really good time here!
i come from South Africa.
this is the worst club i have ever been too, and i come from a 3rd world country. avoid like the plague. I think going to jail for a night would be more fun.
Entry is expensive, drinks are expensive, music is shit, staff are rude. Would not recommend not even to an enemy.
Giving Ruby Blue 1 star is far too generous. I paid £5 (half price) entry and I still felt like I wasted my money. Me and my friends were promised a free vodka mix and half price drinks all night. Our complimentary vodka shot did not have vodka, and when we told the barman about our 50% off drinks offer, he told us he didn't care. We gave up with the rude barman ended up paying standard price for a tiny vodka and coke. And yet again, no sense of alcohol present in my drink. The music was beyond sh**; half the time I found myself standing there, depressed cos my night was just getting worse. Why are they playing Justin Timberlake from 2000. The Dj didnt remix anysongs, so we found ourselves bored & waiting for the next tune halfway through every song as the songs werent event cut short. No suprise the dancefloor was tiny and still empty! Every 10mins or so I'd end up getting walked into by a security guard, wandering around aimlessly like a twat. I hate Ruby Blue: sh*t music sh**ter atmosphere, and the worst barguy eve. Avod please!
Conned into eating here on our way to theatre, attracted by promise of half price meal & drinks. DON'T be fooled-drinks double price to start off with! After waiting an age the waiter admitted they gave our food order to someone else and then added insult to injury by plonking down replacement steaks which were well done bordering on cremation rather than medium rare as ordered! Only after complaining did they offer 1 steak free meaning that with half price offer on rest of meal the cost was comparable with other restaurants. Would not recommend this place to worst enemy-AVOID!!!!!
I attended Ruby Blue with my mother as part of my birthday present and was very impressed when we arrived with the look and feel of the place. However our pleasure was short lived. Our service was incredibly slow and was not well organised. We were one of the first tables to arrive on the pre-theatre dinner and they were slow then. On the table to our left another pre-theatre dinner couple and on our right a full paying couple. Both these parties arrived some considerable time after us. We finally were served our starter of chicken some 20 minutes or so after ordering it. This starter was okay and then cleared away. The table to our left was served their starter after our starter had been cleared. The table to our right had already been served their starter and their main (a lobster surf and turf) which would have taken some considerable time more than the fish and chips we ordered. The table to our left received their main meal before us. When we got our main meal - the peas were cold, the chips luck warm and the fish only just cooked. As soon as the waiter put our plates down he ran off - before even asking if we would like any sauces with our meal. I had to try and find a waiter to ask for new peas as mine were stone cold (it did not appear that they had been cooked at all) and to ask for sauces. When my new peas were returned they were still not warm so I did not eat them. We had to wait for 10 minutes for our bill once we asked for it and was shocked to note that a 20% service charge had been added to it. We queried this with the waiter as we refused to pay it because we had not had the service we would expect to receive. I must say that we felt like second class citizens compared to the table on our right and that I was disgusted to be treated as such. Following our meal with Ruby Blue both my mother and I ended up with food poising. Would not reccomend this place to anyone not paying full price but use an air of caution!
Probably the worst club I've personally been to. We payed £10 to get in with a complimentary shot. This shot as far as 10 of us could tell was pure orange juice! We had been promised drinks would be 50% off. That was a lie, well over £4 for a small bottle of Budweiser... We ended up leaving after 15 minutes.
Disgusted but not surprised there are so many fake reviews on this for that club.
p.s. the bouncers are all twats!
Overall a good place for clubbing.
- Entry price and drink prices average for London.
- Main dance floor had a good amount of space and people on it, even ratio of girls and guys.
- Upstairs dancefloor bit more relaxed, slightly worse than the main one due to the smokers always going in and out of the balcony and not much space due to the seating.
- Balcony is small but good enough for a quick fag.
- Bar serivce was great, nice staff who are quick, friendly and helpful.
- Very near several fast food places and nightbuses/cabs afterwards.
Worst! No better word to say than this. Explanation: I wanted to celebrate my wife's birthday. When I 1st called these guys one week before and booked the package they said so many good words and sold me silver and 3star package and said that the place will be decorated and we will make it a good experience. Later on the day of birthday I called twice and I even upgraded my package to Gold assuming that there will be lots of food for our friends and we can even enjoy more. What we get nothing! No place decoration, No Food, Whole night ruined. All my money got ripped off. Things happened : I was late but my friends were at the venue before 10. At 9:30 I got a call from staff asking r u still coming I said I am and I will be late as I am struck at car park and I was told no worries let your friends come inside and claim the table for you. She never mentioned anything of closing of restaurant and cancelling the food. I was at the venue at 10:15 then they checked all our ids and said we need to pay to enter I tried to request them that I was a little late please consider and they never agreed for it. So I paid for all of us and we went inside by 10:30. Where I could not find anybody who can help us to show our table all bouncers say we have no idea and staff says ask at the counter again no idea. Then I need to get the manager from one of the bouncers and meanwhile I could not reach my friends who were at the table as the pub was busy and very noisy. By the time I meet the manager it was 10:45 and all he said was you were late your booking was at 9:30. And finally he said I cant give you any food and also he said we did decorate your place at 9:30 but some must have taken it. Bullshit! My friends told me that they were there before ten and the table was never been occupied and it clearly said booking for sivaalluri and it never had any decoration done to it.
We booked a booth in Ruby Blue for my girlfriends birthday at the weekend. All of the advance bookings were organised by late night London who were pretty good.
Unfortunately the night was let down by the appalling bouncers on the door. A group of 20 of us arrived a minute after 10 and were told we had to either pay £8 each to get in or get out of the way, we had all been told we would get in free up to 10. We even rang on our way to say we would be late and were assured it was not a problem and we would not be charged. The bouncers then said the girl we talked to was not available as she had left (a lie) that head office changed their tills at 10 and there was nothing they could do (another lie). Once we all got inside, having paid we talked to the girl who had taken our booking and she said that we would get no refund as the manager said we had already paid and he could not do a refund!
It's such a shame because the music upstairs was very good, the service at the bar was quick, although drinks are quite expensive and the terrace overlooking Leicester square is very nice.
Overall a decent enough club for the area hugely let down by the first impression given by the bouncers. had we not pre-booked there's no way we would have come in.
To get an honest perspective of the reviews I would suggest reading all the posts. Perhaps then, the degree of false reviews will become apparent. If they channelled as much energy into improving themselves as they did posting 5* reviews they would be in a better place now. Went for my best friends 23rd Birthday. The advance booking was mucked up and the guy at the desk was a right arse who needed a punch, thankfully it was about ten girls to three guys so getting wasn't too big a hassle although we ended up paying extra! Drinks were watery at best, main room absolute filth! Bouncers surprisingly didn't actually give us grief despite most peoples reviews, and me and my friend are black. The crowd needed a bath and a washing machine to say the least. Music was usual generic rubbish. Overall nothing sets it apart from the other clubs out there, but they need a serious change in management because whatever clown is running the place now has no idea what they are doing.
I came down on a Friday night with some work colleagues, we had dinner in the restaurant and then reserved and area in the Silver booth.
The food was great, and the service was immense, the staff were so good and looked after us really well.
The club was also fab with the bar staff making some amazing cocktails! definitely night to remember!
Definitely recommend Ruby Blue!
I visited on the 13th May with my boyfriend and some friends and i would just like to say that the food was absolutely outstanding. My boyfriend had the Steak and half a Lobster and was raving about it all night. Ruby Blue was definitely a good choice, the staff were so friendly and when we are next in the area I am sure we will be back.
Heard about this place through a friend. Intended to stop by for one or two drinks after work with some friends. Ended up dining in the Restaurant and dancing the rest of the night in the Club after! Our waiter was great, even recommending us the best dishes, and the club was packed with a great crowd. Keen for another all nighter soon!
Absolutely Fantastic! I had my Birthday Party at Ruby Blue last weekend we dined in the restaurant before heading on down to the club. Food was delicious, service was great and surroundings fantastic as had a live pianist playing while we ate! Best Birthday in a long while cant wait to visit again soon!
Booked my Hen Party here two weeks ago, we had a great meal and all sand along to the piano player in the restaurant, who is hot by the way! haha. then we all danced in the club. Great party venue would definatley reccomend.
Heard mixed reviews about this place but last friday can honestly say we had the best night out we have had in ages. Great food, great club and nice people.
The club gets a but sweaty but its better busy than quiet, we danced all night and even found a cheese room which was great to throw some shapes.
Went to Ruby Blue with a load of work mates on Saturday night. It does get very busy so no the best place for a quiet drink but it is what it is a big club and bar, we all had a great night, amazing atmosphere and great to look out over the square
It's a good club but 2 negative points. There is a white bouncer who is incredibly rude, a really bad attitude. The dancefloor at the back is hot and stinks. The air con doesn't work and there is no ventilation. But nice balcony on the other dancefloor
absolutely the worst club ever. the music is terrible, the drinks are expensive and all of the staff have a real attitude. we came here for a birthday and the manager was incredibly rude to my friend and it really ruined the night for everyone. do not come here, it is a tourist trap and there are much better places to go.
Restaurant was excellent, v friendly staff. Food was v good with good size portions, would go back again.
I would give this place negative stars if I could.
The staff were extremely rude to everyone all night and as we stopped on the way out to complain to the manager, we were told we could not stay in the hallway. When we told the bouncers that we were just waiting for our friend (she was talking to the useless manager), they manhandled us for no apparent reason. I was physically pushed out of the place (I'm a harmless skinny girl) and my other friend was pushed down the stairs and thrown on the floor by three massive blokes. None of us were drunk, abusive or confrontational. It came completely out of the blue! That had to be an example of the worst customer service in the world.
We were so shocked by their brutal behaviour, we went to the police station by Charing Cross station to complain. They recommended that we put in an official complain with the local council - please, do the same if this happened to you! Don't let these guys get away with assault!
Absolutly the shittest most racist club ever, the bouncers are complete arseholes, they charge people according to their skin colour, the website says its free before 10, we got there at 9.30 and were told the times had changed and now its only free before 9, and we would have to pay £8. They pushed us to one side to let A group of white females in and told them it would be £5 for them even though they wernt on any guestlist. When we asked them why it was £5 for them and £8 for us he said they wer on A "special guestlist" and if we Continued to ask Questions he wouldnt let us in at all! We met up With these girls Later in the Bathroom and they Confirmed they were not on any guestlist. (we only went in because my friends boyriend and his Mates were already inside). I wouldnt even give Ruby Blue 1 star, racist pig bouncers. I cant belive they are allowed to get away With This Shit. So Basically only go to Ruby Blue if you are white! I will Never go there Again and advise anyone Looking for A good night not to go Either.
We had our work do here. The venue is lovely. And all the staff worked so hard to make our evening enjoyable. The music played by the dj had every single person in our group on the dance floor! The food was amazing and lots for the money paid (which was very reasonable) the drinks were very cheap for central London. An all round brilliant evening! Thanks Rubyblue
Woah! Do NOT go here! The staff is horrible and I have never been to a bar where the server people are so rude! We were given HOT beers (not even the least bit cool) and when we complained the dumb bartender girl threw the beer in my boyfriends face...needless to say we got removed because they dont like it when the bartender gets hot beer back.. Do not waste your time...go somewhere else, there are plenty of places there!
Ruby blue is an awful place - I agree with most of the truthful comments on here about how it does not even deserve one star. I went there for a friends birthday and was shocked by the behaviour of the bouncers. They let all of our party in except the birthday girl and one of our friends (who were the only afro carribeans in our party). They failed to justify the reasons for not allowing them in, and it was not because the bar was full as they let various other people walk in while they argued with the bouncers and my friends were dressed smartly as well. They were rude and aggressive! They kept telling them to shut up and refused to get a manager. The rest of us came out to find out what had happened and witnessed this appalling behaviour and heard them say "we don't let your kind in"! I was furious and asked to speak to a manager, and again they refused but they were very polite to me. When the birthday girl asked for their names, they told her to stop screaming and to get lost! When asked I was given their names, despite speaking in the same calm tone as the birthday girl. The bouncers were clearly being racist and I'm shocked that they still have a job or that this disgrace of a bar is still in business! I recommend that no one ventures near this absymal place. Racist establishments like this should be brought down.
Was pleasantly surprised when we came to our friends birthday at Ruby Blue- they really pulled out all the stops with their birthday celebrations with cupcakes and making a massive fuss of the birthday girl and singing very loudly! was so much fun would reccommend to anyone celebrating and looking for something fun!
Really good night out with my friends in a VIP booth and looked after really well, friendly door staff and excellent waitress service will be returning!
Excellent night out- fantastic music and electric atmosphere- I hear they are extending their happy hour to all drinks which means it will be a fabulous place to have a great night out and stay dancing until 3am!! Brilliant Ruby Blue keep it up
Have to agree with last review, it seems this venue has changed a great deal in the last few months, me and my girlfriend went for a meal which was great and then didnt leave until 3am!
both club rooms were rocking and the fact that you can sit on the terrace and look out over the square is great
would highly reccomend to anyone!
James
I came to this venue in January, and wasnt really impressed. Went back last Saturday on a girlie night out, and can honesty say had the best night out in ages, sexy crowd, great music, the new party room was rammed and we danced all night, has the management/ company changed? whatever you have done dont stop back again in 2 weeksxx
amazing best night out in a longtime.xxxx
I like Ruby Blue. I've been there a few times, and booked their booths and rooms for various events. All of these bookings have gone smoothly and been handled professionally by the Ruby Blue staff.
Never eaten in the restaurant - I'm only talking about the club bit.
But it is a bit hit and miss. I've never had any problems with the bouncers or managers - they're always really friendly.
But one time I was there the whole place smelt of sick. When I complained, the managers did seem worried, but said there was nothing much they could do other than spray some air freshener about....hmmm.
Another time it seemed ridiculously hot and sweaty in there - no idea why, it wasn't summer or anything.
But generally it's a good night out.
Absolutely abysmal - Ruby Blue does not deserve one star. Ruby Blue was part of a lastminute. Com theatre package and I will make sure I never book another theatre package with them that has Ruby Blue as the venue to eat. I does not deserve to be called a restaurant. Dark, grotty and smelling like stale sweat and spilt drink from the night before my pal and I wandered around the numerous floors as the staff seemed to be missing in action. Eventually were shown to a booth and sat down. Set menu seemed ok (were not expecting too much seeing it was part of a deal) but the main course of beef burgers and chips was the absolute worst excuse for a meal I have ever had the misfortune of ordering. Any establishment that is unable to cook chips or heat up a burger bun should be closed down and this is the case with Ruby Blue. Just avoid it like the plague, trust me, your body and mind will thank you for it.
Food was gorgeous, well presented and on time. Served by friendly staff. Cocktails were also lovely. Everything reasonably proceed for city centre restaurant. Atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. Piano player/singer was a nice touch and gave the evening extra brownie points.
