Right, so the following review is about NYE...yah, I know that was ages ago but the trauma of that experience will live with me for the rest of my clubbing life!It is a truly awful place! I will never, ever ever go back there ever again. The almost empty club (on NYE!!!), the staff were rude, our complimentary champagne shot at midnight was never forthcoming, they played music that was popular in the late nineties/early noughties and the place is minuscule. Oh and as for 'in the heart of King's Road' 1) It is *not* on the King's Road, it is on a road off King's Road. 2) It is on a road off the lower end of King's Road near the World's End Estate. As I mentioned, the club was empty, I mean serious tumbleweed going on. The management must have realised that they had made a loss so tried to overcharge a group of revelers. Much to the astonishment of the management the group of party attendees were not drunk, so were not easy to exploit. So the management then proceeded to man-handle certain members of the group, including one poor chap who was just waiting for his fiancee. All in all, crap club with crap service and crap music (I mean, Ja Rule, are you being serious?) and uber crap management. Marie P.s It's only technically in Chelsea, walk 2mins down the road and you're in Fulham!

I will never go back to Rumi ever again. I should have listened to the bad reviews that it gets.

I was out at Rumi's for New Years Eve, I brought a lot of my friends with me and we booked a table with a minimum spend of £300. Towards the end of the night when I guess the bar staff assumed we were really drunk, they tried to charge money to my card claiming that I hadn't reached the minimum spend. When I refused this and tried to leave the club, the two bar staff grabbed me and refused to let me go out of the lounge. My friends and I called the police and when they saw us doing this they then grabbed me threw me outside. I am a girl by the way, 22 years old. I asked to go in to ask my friends to leave with me, but they were already pushing my friends out, the bartender grabbed my arm painfully and started pulling me.

I not only feel abused by these people, I am considering reporting them to the police. I think they will try to charge a large amount of money to my card for which I will take them to court. I have been to bad clubs in London, but I have never been abused before by the staff.

Absolute disgrace. Worst night of my life!

Do not go to Rumi Lounge. Seriously go to any other bar in London but if you ignore me like I ignored the other reviewers I can promise you that you are definitely guaranteed to have a bad night at Rumi Lounge.

What a way to start 2012, I hope this place gets shut down by the police, the staff at Rumi Lounge are criminals.

Went there for a friend's party. I'm older than her, it was her 18th party and she was sharing it with a friend. I've been friends with this girl through our families for years and she really is a sweet girl who deserves a great party. The club had told her she was allowed to have her 18th and knew there would be some 17 year olds there. But then horror! Two days before, they were told that everyone had to bring ID which ensued a panic among her friends and threatened to ruin her night. However, thankfully people were not turned away if they did not have ID, they just could not buy drinks. Lovely ambiance but sadly the floors were slightly sticky which bothered me. There was also a woman hovering in the toilets with a tray of sweets. I took one as I thought she was offering and she shouted rather rudely that everything cost £1. A quid for a piece of gum?! I don't think so. However, the sofas create a cosy, intimate atmosphere perfect for partying but also getting close to people. All in all, not bad.

A local favorite of mine and been going for several years now primarily for the cocktails and music! Can't understand the bad reviews but I guess you can't please everyone and that's one side of the story! Gus out front is always very welcoming and the DJ at 10pm never fails to deliver. He plays to the crowd and not for himself. Keep up the good work guys.

This place is a victim of its own success! They seem to be too busy on Friday and Saturdays to add the personal touch they used to but I guess that happens everywhere. The manager told me they were expanding the team and thrown out a recent manager that took himself too seriously. The music and cocktails have been consistent for years so that's a big plus point for me. The place is small but the vibe when its busy is what makes this place so special. A must visit for celebrations or a romantic date.

If you love music you will love Rumi. Same DJ for a many years as I care to remember but he always delivers. Service and staff usually great but when they get busy it does inevitably suffer a bit. Keep up the good work guys.

Do not go here, bad service, rude staff, they lost my booking on my 25th birthday which meant i had to pay for all my guests.
The staff were more interested in clubbing rather than helping. If you plan to go here for a special occasion please do not you will regret it.

I went to Rumi last night and had an awesome time. I've been to most places on the Kings Road but the atmosphere at Rumi was the best I've experienced. I agree with some of the reviews that Rumi is small but unlike others I had the common sense to find out their capacity beforehand, so it was no surprise. As a local the drinks at Rumi were no more expensive that most places in the area, so if your looking for cheap drinks stick to bargain basement boozers. Champagne taste and beer money springs to mind with some of the reviewers below. Bless.

The place is a tiny club with very little room and expensive drinks. The one massive redeeming factor is the awesome music played was incredible, old school R&b and Hip-hop which would make anyone of the ages 20-27 reminisce about their childhood. However, sadly I need to give Rumi a 1/5 stars. As the night approached 1am, we were told that the club was going to close unless we bought an extra bottle of vodka costing almost £200.00 which is absolutely ridiculous, especially considering we had spent a lot of money the entire night on drinks. This prolonged the night by an extra 50 minutes but is essentially an appalling move by management to squeeze more money out of paying customers on a friday night nonetheless

Friendly staff and an all round safe bet. Simular size to boujis, so yes it is quite small but the vibe when the dj starts is hard to find especially in Chelsea. The decor is slightly worn but it crates a shabby chic / vintage feel to the place. The prices are fairly high but not as ridiculously overpriced at similarly high profile venues in the West End - that are full of kids anyway! If you're looking for an older crowd, great music and epic cocktails then definitely worth a visit. I admit I am a regular (live nearby) so I'm a bit biased but I keep going back as it really is like your best friends posh party pad.

Tiny place and overpriced. The bouncer decided that it was up to him who was on the dance floor - giving warnings to the dancing drunk. Not going again. The only good thing was the music!

I was excited about this place; I went with my family and friends for a birthday and was very disappointed. The waitress at our table and the barmen were so rude. We complained several times, we talked to the owner and he promised us that he would talk to them; however, their attitudes did not change. We had a tab on the table but the waitress said we had to order from the bar, we ordered from the bar and then was told that the money we spent at the bar was not added to our tab (maybe because they could not count or multi-task). Even with the terrible service, the waitress & barmen were not shy about asking for a tip; in fact they demanded it on many occasions.

One good thing was the music but that was it. I am sure that I can find good music in other bars.

All in all, I would not even consider going back and I will not be recommending this place to anyone.

Oh dear, I was reading your review as I am trying to decide where to go for my 40th birthday with friends and I felt inclined to write back saying have you thought maybe how you were treating the staff? If you have complained to the boss his decision over his staff is more important and he may have concluded that ordinarily they are super staff but when some customers are nothing but awkward and rude they decide what the heck. No other review indicates the staff are rude so I would ask myself 'what was it about me that made them treat me like that?@ - look at thine self!

Very rude staff, booked the VIP area and was told when booking there is £500 minimum spend, but can buy single drinks when we please. However on the night the waitress was very pushy and rude kept insisting we buy bottles. Service was non existant and we had to pay at the bar and non of the staff kept tabs on how much was spent. At the end of the night when collecting the credit card the staff were very snide about the tab.

Wouldn't recommend this bar unless the staff sort out their attitude.

This is a fantastic club if you love your R&B and want to have a fuss free night....no long queues and having to be a member or have an expensive table as in some places in the West End. All I did was send a simple guest list request on their website. The DJ played brilliant music and each song just got better. Also he knew to keep the tempo up which just kept the crowd on the dance floor!! I take my hat off to the DJ. If you are going for a posey night this is not the place, it's good with a group of friends who love their R&B - you will not be disappointed!!

I celebrated my 26th Birthday at Rumi this weekend. I have only been there once previously so i hoped that everything would work out.

The club was already busy when we arrived and unfortunately there had been a mix up on the door regarding our guestlist, this was quickly sorted out.

After that we had a great night, really good music playing all the classics. I'd like to thank Cokey for organising a great night.

Organising an event for 150 people is never easy, but all at Rumi did make it as smooth as possible, after an initial hiccup, dealing with Manoj and Cokey was a delight

Everyone of our guests left Rumi with a great experience, the staff are amazing, and when we needed their help especially playing a video recorded for the night by a Hollywood film star, two members of staff came running to sort out the problem

A BIG thank you to Carlos, how u dealt with 150 ladies was amazing, you made sure our night was a sucess and for that we THANK YOU

I had my 30th birthday party in the Rumi bar on the 3rd October.

I chose this venue for its intimate setting and lovely decor, but most importantly the staff, particually Cokey were very helpful and and attentative with my requests.

I phoned, looked at other venues but the staff management were never really helpfull or it was too expensive. Contacting the Rumi bar the management made sure my night would be a great night, and it was :).

When I did arrive the area I requested to reserve was given to another bigger party, I was slightly annoyed but in the end I was glad I got a corner area as we were a bit out from the dance floor and the crowds and to compensate my intital reaction the manager offered some free drinks.

The food and drinks were lovely and the staff were really nice, nothing too pretentious. The music was good, commercial music with a bit of old skool thrown in and later in the evening the musc just got better that I was pulled off the dance floor by my friends as we were preparing to leave.

My guests and myself had a fantastic night and I will be definatley recommending this venue for parties. Be prepared to fight your way to the bar, and toilets as the place gets very busy.

Spanner in the works! WELL I really have to question the legitimacy of the listed reviewers as this was definitely a night to remember but for all the WRONG REASONS!

After organising my birthday celebrations for a month and regularly liaising with staff via email and phone calls I was surprised to be told of a double booking when myself and guests had arrived on the night!

With some guests travelling great distances to attend this occasion this was a huge disappointment especially at a venue within a reputable area.

However this venue is not located on Kings Road but off the main road which is already a falsification. Greeted with drunken individuals sitting outside the dim-lit entrance was hardly the picture of a stylish and trendy crowd that was expected!

On the weekly newsletter there was no specification of a function being held on Saturday and on the night several other groups of people were refused entry.

Listening to a babbling man who was thrown into the lions den was laughable as there were no attempts to rectify or compensate for this c*ck-up!

Between the individual who had organised and confirmed all of the plans - supposedly on holiday - and the two members of staff thrown onto the frontline I soon realised that I was dealing with clowns and NOT professionals.

Its funny how an organised event can magically disappear where cash is flowing - good to business maybe but not for reputation!

25 should be an age of maturity where one would wish to mingle with a more sophisticated crowd and this was not the place!

Rumi is definitely not what it says on the tin and if you want to have a good time its not always worth the risk…stick to what you know!0 stars wasn’t an option unfortunately!

This is a terrible venue.

Firstly, they say it's "on" the Kings Road. No it's not. It's on Tetcott Road so unless you know the area, you will never find it... in fact, I wish we hadn't!

The place was small, cramped, badly lit, the sound set up was terrible, the DJ was appalling, the toilets smelt foul, drinks were far too expensive, crowd a bit moody, staff not very good, table size cocked up on the night, plus deteriorating decor... all in all, GIVE IT A MISS!!

Oh, and after 9pm, it will cost you £10.00 to behold this utter waste of prime location in Chelsea.

Complete rubbish!

I celebrated my Birthday at Rumi last week for the 2nd year in a row with many friends and even family!

The management on the phone/email were extremely responsive, cooperative and organised. The door staff were polite & pleasant and the Bar staff were quick & efficient.

My friends and I had a GREAT night - they're still talking about it, music was great (nice to see a place that actually plays song requests with a laid back & friendly Dj!) and cocktails were great!

I would definitely celebrate my Bday there again next year! Having equally experienced the London 'elite' bar and clubbing scene, & though each of them has its pro's & con's, I would still recommend Rumi over many other places as its an all rounder - ticking ALL the boxes!

On a personal note I would like to thank Rumi for being so kind & cooperative during the organising process, on the night none of my guests had any hassle getting in, our seating area was great, overall making it a memorable evening!

What a venue! My Fiance and I celebrated our engagement party at Rumi last Saturday night and had an amazing evening!

It was the perfect intimate setting for our event, all our guests had a brilliant evening and loved our choice of venue.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the DJ was phenomenal playing tune after tune making it very hard for anyone to get off the dance-floor, except to quench their thirst with the fantabulous Rumi bubbly champagne cocktails!

I have to say it was one of the best nights out I have had and a lovely place to hold a party, definitely a place I would recommend to anyone I know!

I celebrated my 25th birthday at Rumi bar on Saturday and had an incredible time.

There were about 25 of us in total and everyone got in without any problems whatsoever throughout the course of the night.

The live singer at the beginning of the night was excellent and then at 10pm the funky house and nb kicked in - just what i was looking for!!Everyone was on their feet dancing and having a good time!

The cocktails were lovely and not badly priced! The managers were so lovely and managed to sort me out with a table at the last minute with no minimum spend.

Rumi is a nice intimate environment, perfect for a party - with incredible music and a friendly atmosphere.

All my friends complimented me the next day on my choice of venue!!

My best friend celebrated her 24th birthday at Rumi. They had reserved an area for us. We had a great time from the start.

We were there early but the entertainment had already started with live music.

The DJ came on a bit later (around 10 pm) and had everyone dancing until the end of the night (2am).

The staff were always nice, smiley and helpful. Management were also available to answer questions.

Drinks and cocktails are slightly overpriced, but the cocktails are great!

The venue is elegant, and the atmosphere very friendly.

I would definitely go back next time I am in London!!

I recently hosted a joint 25th birthday party at Rumi which was a real success. The whole Rumi team were so helpful and couldn't do enough in the organising of our party.

The party was enjoyed by all and I was able to enjoy the party without being faced with any problems at all- as the Rumi team took care of every aspect of the party on the night. The venue was perfect.

It is smartly decorated and personal so ideal for an party or event. The staff are welcoming and really fun- which really helped the party atmosphere.

The drinks are reasonably priced and the bar staff tried to ensure that everyone was served as speedily as possible to minimise the queues.

I would thoroughly recommend Rumi as a venue for anyone looking to host a party under 150 people.

All in all, I had a fantastic party and I am looking forward to organising a few more parties this year at Rumi.

The music, the drinks and the management were all amazing. Music began with slow jams and gradually went into funky house.

DJ had everyone dancing! Management were superb, didn't have to queue, they sorted table, guest-list and served the cakes.

I had my 30th birthday here a few weeks' back and it was an excellent night.

Good crowd (there were a few parties that night), great atmosphere, and above all, the music was truly outstanding.

The DJ really knows how to put on a party and was playing plenty of sexy r'n'b, hip-hop and old skool, with a bit of funky house and a few classics thrown in for good measure.

I posted here because I really felt that the club looked after us well.

We had a sizeable crowd (25+) and had a few requests over the course of the evening which were all catered for without any hassle.

The live weekend music is a nice touch and sets the tone for the evening.

If only the club could stay open a bit later, but it's a great venue and I will certainly be frequenting more regularly over the summer.

Hats off to the management team - keep up the good work! If only London had a few more bars like this.

It's well worth the trip.... you won't be disappointed.

Went here about a month ago. We weren't on a guest list but got in with no problems.

DJ was fantastic with R&B to house, perfect mixing and continuous dancing!

A tenner to get in and very reasonably price drinks.

The best part is that everyone is there to have a good time, is chilled out and there are NO over testosteroned drunken f'wits groping about (unlike the neighbouring Lot's Rd clubs).

We're going back as soon as we can!

I was really shocked at just how small this place is, it's certainly smaller than your average pub and boy do they know how to pack them in.

There was some confusion with our booking, we were supposed to have an area but they didn't have a record of it despite the fact we had confirmation from the manager.

They were happy to leave us standing but one of our party complained and they suddenly managed to find us somewhere!

Drinks prices varied depending on who served you but most of the staff were really polite.

Music was brilliant, a real mix of the old and new and they managed to get everyone up and dancing.

Quite a mild timid crowd here, not exactly the raging party animals I'm used to up west, but it made a nice change.

That said I wouldn't make it a regular haunt, I like living it up with the beautiful people too much ;o)
