The cafe is run down. The food was ropey, mash nothing special, gravy gloopy. Although, the sausages were actually really nice.

I'm not veggie but a friend is and if you are, definitely do not bother. It's like a dodgy school dinners theme night.

My review is actually for the S and M Cafe near Liverpool Street at 48 Brushfield. The service is appalling and the food is not worth the long (long) wait. The atmosphere is very loud music and lots of smoke, so unless you enjoy that sort of thing, do not go.

First of all it took ten minutes for them to bring us menus, ten more for them to take our order, and 45 for them to realise that our order had not gone to the kitchen (we had to alert them that we had been waiting so long, they noticed nothing on thier own).

But most revolting was the fact that I sat on a piece of glass embedded in the chair and they did not care at all. So if you do go to S and M Cafe, watch your seat before you sit down, be prepared to wait longer than necessary (and this is if you get your food at all), and be prepared to pay far too much for mediocre food! I do not recommend this cafe. My rating is 0 stars, however I have to input at least one on this website.

I went to the Sausage and Mash Cafe near Liverpool Street tube, and it was incredible.

The mash melts in your mouth and the house gravy is very good as well. Other people in my party had different flavours of mash and all were quite good. They have many different kinds of sausage and mash, you can find pretty much anything you want! The apple crumble that I had for dessert was not that great as it tasted a little too grainy (too much sugar?), but the hot custard that came with it was fantastic.

Sausage and Mash Cafe was very cheap for good food. I will be back!

The S and M Cafe is one of my favourite places to eat. I love a bit of comfort food and the selection on offer here is mind-boggling!

Particular favourites include the Guinness sausages and the homemade onion gravy, but I really don't think you can go far wrong. The S and M Cafe comes highly recommended in my book!
