Whenever near the area we always come out of our way to come here! Absolutely delicious, love that it's all veggie as well. Such friendly atmosphere, so happy more are opening!

Sagar is a very reasonably priced restaurant, serving pretty authentic South Indian veggie food with a few westernised dishes (such as a very mild korma) for the less adventurous.

Our meal was very enjoyable- bhindi and muttar paneer being particularly good.

The only down side is the waiters aren't very forthcoming and 'beat about the bush' on questions (why not say if they think something is hot or mild, compared to other dishes?) - one of our party asked if a dish was chilli-hot and the waiter said 'a little' (ie like medium). When it arrived, it was proper, South Indian palate, hot. The waiters were very helpful when she asked to exchange it for a less spicy dish, though. A top tip for Sagar is, if it says 'with South Indian spices' on the menu, it means hot! Personally I really love the hot/sour flavours of South Indian food, so enjoyed everything we ordered.

Sagar Hammersmith is the best South Indian restaurant I've ever been to. It is superior to its newer sister restaurant in Percy Street W1 in that a) it's cheaper, and b) the waiting staff are about as good as it gets.

I'm a great fan of the cold starters - particularly bhel poori, sev poori and pani poori - and at Sagar they are fresh and moreish, with just the right amount of spice for my curious tastebuds.

For mains it's always a difficult decision between a dosa or a curry, but usually it's the Mysore masala dosa that wins, which comes with a mouthwatering spicy sambar.

Another favourite is chana masala (chickpeas in a delicious tomato sauce, and particularly tasty at Sagar) with a fragrant rice or a fresh bread.

The waiters know their dishes and are happy to offer advice on the wide range of options available, and what to have with what etc.

They are friendly and attentive without being intrusive, appearing at just the right moment to ensure a simple, smooth and relaxing dining experience.I'd eat there every week if I could.

Really loved this amazing South Indian restaurant, which offers a wide range of dosas and vegetarian food from Bombay and the South. The staff were friendly and helpful, the service quick and the music an unobtrusive accompaniment. Our lunch for 2 set us back a mere 20 quid.

Sagar is absolutely fantastic. I would drive all the way to Sagar again, even through all that traffic. It was fantastic food!

The food is delicious at Sagar. The service is with a smile and is excellent. Sagar is great value for money and there are so many dishes! I was so pleased to pay the bill for once in my life. This is probably the best Indian I have ever had actually.

This HAS to be the best South Indian vegetarian food I have ever tasted in my entire life. Cannot praise Sagar more highly. Used to think Rasa and Drummond Street were the best, but now there is only one place to eat sev puri.
