We arrived on a Saturday for a 6pm, pre-theatre reservation to find the place was being decorated (read - painted) for xmas. The gentlemen sitting next to us was startled to find paint all over his hand (thought it was blood at first). My wife and I surveyed ourselves and thought we were lucky. The adjacent table also found paint on their hands. In the light of day the next morning i found that we had not escaped unscathed - i had some red paint on my jacket. I called the restaurant to ask for them to cover my dry cleaning bill - cleaners obviously won't gaurantee results with paint, but I wasn't pushing for him to replace my suit!

I asked for the Manager. He was quite RUDE and LIED by saying the painting was done earlier in the week. From his response I do not think that I was his first complaint call of the day!

Don't take a chance when there are so many great pre-theatre options in the Strand area!

We went to Salieri Restaurant for my wifes birthday, and we had the most memorable time of our lives. We were most impressed by the bill which was rather low as we all had three course meals with many drinks. The atmosphere at Salieri Restaurant was very friendly and we will most definitely go again, thanks to the food and staff.

I enjoyed the finest dining experience in London at Salieri in February. Although the restaurant was busy we received excellent service. We had booked and were given a good table by the window. The food was hot, excellent quality and on time. The evening cost £120 for a four-course meal for two, including two bottles of wine, aperitifs and drinks following the meal, and was well worth every penny.

What a top place Salieri is! I went for pre-theatre meal last night and the place was almost full (7pm) but we were seated and served quickly and efficiently and were out in good time for the theatre. Good food, good service and a pleasant waiter.
We will certainly use Salieri again, the only pity is its taken us so long to find it.

Restaurants that trade off "theatricality" in London's Theatreland (cf. Sarastro's) are to be approached with caution. I had the misfortune to go to a Christmas party with a group of 12 and found the food to be no better (or, to be fair, worse) than my staff canteen. Fine if you're paying £5, but not £25 for what appeared to be Bernard Matthews' turkey roll and deep fried "roast" potatoes. The waiters liked clearing the table before everyone had finished and snatching plates away from 'dawdlers'. I was shocked that we were paying nearly £50 a head including drinks and tip, when I have had far, far superior meals for two at that price. Overall, my impression was of an Angus Steak House with some gold drapes and "comedy" sketches on the seats. Will never return.

Absolutely terrible, the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. We arrived at 6 for pre-theatre dining. We ordered at ten past. The starters eventually arrived at 7pm and were cold. At 8.15pm we left without having had our main course. The manager did not apologise and tried to make us pay for our entire meal, including the main courses which we had ordered over 2 hours earlier and which had never arrived!!!

While we were there, at least four other groups of diners had to leave without having their main courses. Possibly we caught this place on a very bad evening, but I won't be returning to check.

I have just retuned from an evening at Salieri. All I can say is that many restaurants in town could learn from our experience. From the moment we were greeted we were made to feel like the most important diners of the night. The food was excellent, nothing was too much trouble for "laughing Toni" our waiter and the whole evening was memorable at a realistic price. We look forward to many more enjoyable evenings with Salieri.
