I came for an afternoon meal with colleagues and really liked this place. It reminds me a lot of Paris, particularly the Marais region, because it has an honest charm and attitude and a little bit of dusty magic.
This place might look a bit worn out but like an old boot it fits well, carries the day and takes you to great places.
The management and waitress were very efficicent and professional and i thought had a nice air about them.
I ate a delicious pear and goats cheese salad, which is probably the first salad Ive ever tasted that didnt feel padded out with leaf fodder - that probably says more about me than it does the overall quality of salads that are out there but hey, it tasted fantastic.
Mains, i had treacle duck breast - again delicious with some interesting bechamel sauce potato thing which was ok, considering i wouldnt normally go for something like that. Its a good sign when even the options you'd usually avoid still goes down nicely - like those times when you think you dont like a certain food, only to discover that you do when it's been made and cooked properly!
Nice place, bit of a gem, would definitely go back - recommend anyone who hasnt been at least try it.
The single star given in this review is pinned firmly to the food; a restricted but frequently varied menu, suitably priced and well prepared ... that is most of the time and when eventually served.
Well placed in the centre of Bloomsbury, I have been to Savoir Faire on several occasions, each time becoming increasingly dissatisfied and disappointed by the standard of service. My last - and most certainly final - visit to this establishment had the misfortune to coincide with a large party of diners, celebrating what appeared to be a recent wedding. The exuberant group took over the entirety of this small restaurant to the exclusion of all others with a complete lack of self-awareness. Given the circumstances, and the size of the group, their ignorance was understandable, if irritating; far less understandable was the similar attitude displayed by the wait staff and manager.
Despite the fact that my companion and I had booked a table in advance, the restaurant was utterly incapable of managing both the group party and my table-for-two. We waited for over two hours for our main course to be served and when it eventually was delivered to the table it was over-cooked and arrived cold. This could have been accepted as a once-off, as an unfortunate side-effect of the sprawling wedding party, had it not been for the careless, insulting and dismissive attitude of the staff throughout the evening; a complete lack of concern which had become, regrettably, an expected element to the dining experience at Savoir Faire.
Savoir Faire could be a good restaurant - it could be very good - but no matter how much potential it has, it simply isn't achieving it. Perhaps after a few years and some desperately needed staffing changes, or at least suitable training and experience, Savoir Faire will be worth giving yet another chance to disappoint. Until then avoid if you are dining with anyone you'd like to impress, anyone you'd like to know better or generally anyone you
We found this lovely restaurant by chance and are so glad that we did. The food was cooked to perfection; excellent and friendly service; great ambience. We will definitely be returning in the near future. Tina + shaun, Bridport
This place is a must stop every time I go to London. Reasonable price and superb food in a location close to theatre and shopping. Great Duck by the way
The atmosphere at Savoir Faire is cosy and the food really good. But the service is slow!
This really lets the place down. Having said that I'll probably give Saoir Faire another chance as my steak was cooked to perfection.
