Good , interesting and tasty food. Some of my friends love this place, a much better place for me as they often have many non beef recipes (its opposite Le Bouchon, which caters for steak eaters). Its also nice to sit out side on a sunny Sunday morning for breakfast.

Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic. Food that is as good as you would nearly find anywhere in London. Great menu, interesting, plenty of choice, good prices, relaxed atmosphere, not trying to anything it isn't and for me a welcome change from the expensive, flash new restaurants we see everywhere that very rarely deliver anything of substance.
The staff here are as friendly, attentive and welcoming as any place i have ever eaten. A true local star that deserves more recognition.

I just sent this email to Scoffers following the worst meal I have ever had in london- the food is terrible- do not go to Scoffers Four of us came in for lunch on Saturday and it certainly was memorable - for all the wrong reasons. I had read some extremely poor reviews online and also had heard how Scoffers had gone drastically downhill in recent months but I chose to give it a go and booked. I really regret that now. The meal and the service were both shockingly bad. We sat down, there was no cutlery and none appeared despite us asking four times. My friend went to collect it herself.

The food arrived - with the wrong bread on both of the steak sandwiches and an ant crawling around on my food, which the waitress said had been on the table and crawled onto the plate. The 'steak' in both the sandwiches was pure gristle - both my friends who ordered that left more than half of it. The 'mustard mayonnaise' had no mustard in it whatsoever. The fajitas were ludicrously overpriced for what they were at £12 - the wraps were stone cold and there were no peppers with the chicken breast. The cheese was old and hard. We were told we couldnt have tap water, only bottled, I thought it was illegal to refuse to serve tap water, esp as the rest of the table were having 'paid-for' drinks. When I mentioned how unhappy we were about the 'steak.' nobody offered to deduct it from the bill, even though it was inedible. Eventually, after I suggested it to two different people, it was deducted (but only one was) and with bad grace.

What a disaster- I felt embarrassed that I had chosen Scoffers and it totally ruined what was meant to be a special get together. I haven't ever written to a restaurant following a meal before, but I felt the need to do so today as this was the worst meal any of us had ever had in London. A real shame.

I used to go to Scoffers quite regularly and always enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and fantastic food. I went back last night expecting the same quality and range of food and was disappointed. The half empty restuarant at 8.30 on Saturday night should have given it away really. The food was average, the portions smaller and presentation not much more than an afterthought. The menu used to have some interesting and imaginative food like Springbok steak etc but these seem to have been lost with a heavy reliance on easy to produce dishes. Even the menus looked a bit cheap.

The staff were friendly although I felt they looked rather apologetic about the whole situation.

Disappointing since this used to be my favourite restaurant and I hope this is just a blip.

Scoffers is a lovely place with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. I love spending Sunday afternoons in there with friends - the roast is superb!

Scoffers is definitely one of my favourite places to laze the day away. Very nice indeed.

Scoffers is a wonderful unassuming little gem hidden in Clapham Junction.

The staff can only be described as lovely, genuinely welcoming and helpful, you are well looked after here.

At lunchtime you can take advantage of a £5 menu comprising of main course and a drink of your choice - including alcohol - bargain.

The food itself is lovely, beautifully presented and the restaraunt's name gives an indication of the good sized portions you can expect.

Give it a try you will definitely be back for more.
