A fantastic Chinese restaurant with wonderful food! I have been there many times and really enjoy the atmosphere,if u love jazz u must go there cause the live jazz show will always be performance at the weekend! Dim sum there are beautiful. Yeah! Beautiful! You will never find that in any restaurant in china town! That traditional shanghai Xiao Long bun is awesome! Also they offer us some shanghai food! Its always a place that I recommend for a night out!

I've been here a few times, with friends, parents, boyfriend... Each time has been a culinary explosion, if you'll pardon the cliche. Wow. This place just blows me away every time I go here and I always find myself recommending it whenever anyone asks me where they should go for great Chinese food. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, who are attentive without being overbearing. Dress smart-casual - you'll feel under-dressed if you turn up in jeans and trainers! I can't say enough good things about this glorious restaurant, so come here and make the most of the fantastic food.

After a hard weeks work a friend and I decided to treat ourselves to a nice meal, so we expected to pay a little more than usual for our treat. And Shanghai Blues was definitely worth that little bit more!!
From the moment I stepped into the lobby the receptionist was polite and attentive...the atmosphere in the restaurant was tranquil and mysterious, fitting well with the great aroma coming from the food.
The dim sum menu was both adventurous and mouth watering with more traditional Chinese options also available.
The portions were huge and I was also impressed with the large range of cocktails available on the drinks menu. My cocktail was definitely strong - so I knew I was getting my moneys worth!
Having experienced many Chinese restaurants in London I have found my favourite taste of Chinese outside China!!

I ate here with my boyfriend a couple of years back in 2006. We were in London for the weekend and had planned to splash out on a fancy meal with wine, it was expensive but for a couple on a weekend break we were fine with that.

The staff were friendly enough, we enoyed the decor and the food although we couldnt finish it all, we found the portions quite big. It was lovely to sit at the bar and enjoy some drinks after too although they are expensive.

We booked this restaurant for a hen night and were a group of 9. The restaurant entrance and decor is very grand and smart, though the inside lighting is very dark.When we arrived we gave the name we booked our table under and were directed to a bar area and given menus, after a while we asked about our table... they had not realised we had booked (even though we said this when we arrived). We were then taken to our table and were very disappointed to be sat in a small, dark and dingy room that was like a conference room, it did not have any of the ambiance or decor that the main restaurant had, we felt like we were being hid away because we were a large group.We opted for the set menu which was around £38 a head. The portions were very small, on the starters there was literally 1 portion per person, for example 1 spring roll per person. The food was of nice quality, but for the price was not worth it and most of us left feeling hungry.The drinks were absolutely extortionately priced, £36 for a bottle of Pinot wine. We also noticed that they kept topping up glasses with mineral water even though we had not asked for this, we requested we did not want water and was told we would be charged for what had already been consumed, only tap water was free.When the bill came we were all pretty reluctant to be paying the £63 each that it worked out to be, and we all agreed that it was over priced for what we had. The service charge was listed as 12.5% discretionary. We told our waitress we did not want to pay the discretionary 12.5% (another £65) and asked her to remove this and we would leave our own tip. We were told it was restaurant rules that we had to pay it and if we didn’t it came out of her wages. We highlighted the definition of discretionary and she reluctantly removed it from our bill.Over all, was disappointed with the restaurant, price and food. If I was to eat here again it would be as a couple only and I would not drink alcohol.

Shanghai Blues has great decor and fabulous food. It feels like proper old world China. The staff at Shanghai Blues are fab and friendly, and the dim sum are brilliant. Would highly recommend the this place to anyone.
