I have been to numerous apparently good Japanese restaurants in London, and Shogun is the best of all by far. It is very friendly indeed and the food is just great. Shogun is pricey but I believe it is worth every penny.

Shogun is a friendly traditional restaurant. I had friends from Japan in town and took them there and they kept raving that even in Tokyo, it was hard to find some of the dishes they serve. Shogun is the other end of the spectrum from from some of the more modern Japanese restaurants where the food contains chilis and is prepared by someone with a French cooking background rather than a sushi chef.


The owner took time to tell us about the history of the restaurant, the food, and to confirm that the celebrities we spotted were who we thought they were. Will definitely go again.

The sushi at Shogun was not fresh, the rice was soggy and the price was very high as well. We had 5 pieces of sushi (salmon, white fish, tuna, mackerel, and cucumber rolls) for 22 pounds! The atmosphere is charming at Shogun but it's just not worth the money.

Shogun is a good lunchtime restaurant. The sushi is fresh and delicious and the atmosphere relaxing.

The service in Shogun is quick too, great if you've got a time limit (like a lunch hour!)
