A quiet venue close to Waterloo station serving a mixture of Thai and Chinese dishes.

The Venue
Sino Thai is located on Lower Marsh, a cute street at the back of Waterloo station, filled with bars, independent shops and small local eateries. The restaurant is fairly big and spacious, with further space downstairs. The minimalist decor is not much different from other Chinese restaurants with the standard white tablecloths and a few Chinese-style pictures on the wall.

The Atmosphere
Sino Thai is in a great location for late night drinkers and travellers passing through Waterloo, but it’s a bit hard to stumble across, which can lead to a lack of customers depending on the time of day. Service comes with a smile and at a quick pace – which is only to be expected if you’re the only ones in the restaurant.

The Food
The menu is broad with a mixture of Thai and Chinese dishes ranging from Thai salads and curries to staple Chinese dishes such as sweet and sour prawns and beef with green peppers and black bean sauce. Portions are large (you may need a doggie bag) and with so much on offer you’ll have difficulty choosing. Stir fried roast duck with pineapple is tender and not too fatty, whilst phad gratiem prik Thai (stir fried king prawns with garlic and pepper) has a spicy kick. A starter plate of vegetarian spring rolls, satay chicken, prawn toast, chicken wings and spare ribs, all accompanied by sweet and sour and satay sauces, is also good, although the ribs are perhaps a little dry. The restaurant also provides three set menu options that are fantastic value for money, priced at £12, £18 and £20.

The Drink
Asian beers such as Tiger are available, as are wine and soft drinks. You can also opt for sake for £9.

The Last Word
Sino Thai has very good food on offer and is well worth a visit. Unfortunately, it seems to be suffering customer wise, perhaps due to it being a tad hard to find.
