The special the Pork Schnitzel was too thin and overcoOKed. Service was ok but no talking. place looks a little tired not ideal for a nice social outing.
Well, they seem to have jumpstarted this place back into life. The last time I went, the service was ,as other users have said, unfriendly etc, but on my visit today, the whole place seemed to have gone up massively, in terms of customer care and friendliness.
It appears that the owner has had a word with the staff about their current laziness, or has hired new hands, but the atmosphere in the place is tangible. The staff are friendly, and the food has only gotten better. When some people sitting next to us asked to just pop out to get some cash from the machine down the road, the staff were very friendly, and agreed
Sadly, whilst according to previous reviews (2005) this place was good, I have to agree with the more recent comment (2009) and suggest that it's deteriorated even further during 2010. We've lived nearby for a year now and the final straw was going there on Saturday (for the fifth time this year, I think).
Yes, it's cheap and yes, it's tasty. But the appalling service really leaves a bitter taste. Usually it's just short and unfriendly, but adequate, but lately it's been overshadowing the food. I still like cheap and tasty, but there's a limit - I don't enjoy anything when surly waiters and waitresses neglect customers, forget orders, give away booked tables and I certainly have no interest in managers who offer complimentary drinks and then charge for them (denying all knowledge of the conversation an hour earlier!?).
It's a shame. A good location and a good concept. But you'd be better spending slightly more and getting some proper service - or heading to Little Bay near West Hampstead where the same concept is done better.

Small and Beautiful is a lovely little place with great service and a really good set menu. I had the baked peppers which were delicious!
I'd recommend Small and Beautiful for a relaxing meal with friends.
