Delicious food, excellent atmosphere. The restaurant has been decorated to look like really authentic casbah.

Very disappointing visit - the prices do not justify the poor quality food. Suspiciously, we received our tagines about 2 mins after ordering- obviously not being made to order! The food was barely warm and the vegetable tagine particularly flavourless- what looked like boiled carrots and parsnips floating in water with chickpeas and imperceptible seasoning. I'm not a fussy eater, but could not actually finish this it was so poor. The couscous side order came in a plastic bowl- unsurprisingly also not very warm! The 12.5% service charge which is included is a cheeky, given the overall poor experience. Definitely will not be returning- felt a bit like a tourist trap.

A disappointing evening! We had to wait 30 min for a table despite having booked, tables are tiny and cramped together, the staff are clumsy are pay no attention to their customers. Staff are argumentative and forgetful. Service is incredibly slow, we had to ask several times for our main meal, and when it arrived there wasn't even enough room on the ridiculously small table for all of our plates. Food is bland (and I subsequently read reviews pointing out the fact that people have come down with food poisoning after visiting!), music is far too loud, and the restaurant is very grubby indeed. The lights are turned down so low that you can't actually see your food, which I'm sure is a tactic to divert attention from said grubbiness. Bearing in mind that you can easily pay up to £35/£40 for a set menu, I would advise you to avoid this restaurant at all costs.

Disappointing and total rip off !!
It's the second time I am going back to this place since my first visit in May last year where I ended up complaining about the quality of food and as a good gesture they gave me a refund but hey.. nothing has changed since !!
If you are looking for authentic Moroccan food, Please please don't even try this place !! The food is so tasteless and pricey that I am disappointed yet again ! I can write a long long page about the quality of food they serve but there is looks like they don't want to change anything!
Can't complain about the ambience and feel about the place but you go to such places for good food and not the ambience !!

I went to this restaurant in September 2011 with my sister and a friend.

We order a mixed mezze plate to start, which was very tasty indeed. We also ordered calamari, which they forgot to bring to the table. I had to remind the staff after we had finished our mezze. The calamari arrived cold and quite frankly, soggy and tasteless.

The mains arrived in good time, however were quite average in my opinion. Just lumps of meat with no real flavour. Once again part of the main was not brought to us, as they had forgotten again. I didn't remind the staff on this occasion, as I was quite fed up of having to do the waiters job.

After finishing our main, we sat for almost an hour without anymore communication with the staff. They did not ask if we required desert, coffee or more wine and I took it upon myself to go to the kitchen area and ask for the bill.

We used a taste card, which enables 50% off of the bill. When the bill arrived, they had added the rice to the receipt that we had ordered with our main but never received.

They did deduct to this from the price but to our horror, they added approx. 25% service charge to the bill - although we received a 50% discount, they added the service for the full price of the meal without the discount at 12.5%. Considering the service was poor we collectively decided to leave 10% only - In my opinion, this is the UK average and service charge is not obligatory anyway.

As we stood up to leave, the waiter came up to me and rudely asked "I want to know why you only left £5 tip, it is not what was stated on the bill". I of course calmly argued my point that the service was not up to standards, as food was forgetten etc. This caused the waiter to get very aggresive and he began to shout at us loudly so that all of the other customers could hear the confrontation. This was embarrassing, as we were extremely be-littled and shown up. I told him that service was not olbigatory and he did not ask us if we required coffee e

Went there yesterday, for the second time. It has a really nice atmosphere, and the staff are friendly and helpful.
The food was really tasty, and the servings are generous. Also, it's not too expensive. I would recommend this to anyone as a great experience.

The stars are for the atmosphere, which was good and cosy if slightly cramped and the belly dancing, which was funny.

However the food was bland, which is some achievement with Moroccan food, and worse - myself and at least one other member of my group ended up with mild food poisoning.

I have been before but we wanted to give them a last shot because I liked the atmosphere.

Everything had changed, the food was delicious and the service was quite nice. It was quiet but we went there on Tuesday.

They offered some baklava and mint tea at the end because we told them we came once and we were disappointed.

We're gonna go back on the week end because we want to see the belly-dancer!Honestly, we were happy!

Went there with a friend. The ambiance is good and the service was impressive. Restaurant is a bit cramped, but the ambiance makes up for it.

Not the best Moroccan food in town. Other places like Pasha in Kensington have much greater variety and tastier food.

I went to Souk Bazaar on Saturday evening with a couple of friends. We were seated in the basement, which was cosy and full of atmosphere, so we had high hopes. The waiter gave us a sheet of paper with a set menu, when we asked about the full a la carte menu he said that they didn't serve it at weekends.

This seemed odd, but the set menu sounded good so we went with it. The starters were quite nice, but when the main courses came we were only given 3 of the five on the menu. After a while we asked the waitress for the remaining chicken and merguez dishes, which she clearly had no intention of bringing to us, eventually a bowl of chicken bits and with two merguez on top arrived....not the chicken with saffron and herbs and the couscous with merguez we had been promised.

The food was average, not great, but what really annoyed us was the sight of the full a la carte menu in the hands of the people sat either side of us. I asked the waiter who served us why we hadn't been given the choice of the normal menu and he put it down to a breakdown in communication.

The waiter offered some free drinks to make up for this 'misunderstanding', we declined but vowed never to go there again. A very disappointing experience.

Absolutely appalling!! Filthy, cramped and cold..do not be seduced by the photo's ( must have been taken a very long time ago?) The food was inedible apart from the pitta and second rate humous. Service was like something out of Fawlty Towers..random plates were dumped on the tiny tables and unbelievably plates of food were placed on top of the dirty plates from the first course. Plates were frreeezzing..cutlery sparse and handed out sparingly..forget drinks orders..you may as well as they did! It's a wonder the place hasn't been shut down..Perhaps the worst dining experience ever..MacDonalds would rate a 10 compared to this dump. You have been WARNED!

Visited Souk bazar just this week - was a refreshing experience. Being a keen fan of anything North African it was just like being in a different place once a few steps off the busy London street. You enter into a welcomming shabby chicness of Moroccan mystery.
Warm welcome and venturing down we were offered a table in the small cave, which was a romantic place for me & my husband of 21 yrs. Drinks "casablanca" and maicamel preceeded a tempting menu...attentative service and all for £78.
The restaurant was quite authentic in a "Mr Ben" style....it was difficult to leave the sweet mint tea.....and candlelight back onto the reality of London nightlife....

Came to Souk Bazaar on my birthday. I found the service very good - the waiter was friendly and chatty. (Perhaps those that were not happy with the service should try being a bit nicer to the staff - it pays off!). We had the set menu, which is excellent value at only £15.00 for a selection of most of their dishes. The Souk Bazaar food is great, the atmosphere is second to none.

There isn't a vast amount of space, but that only adds to the atmosphere of the place. And we were there for 3 hours and no one chucked us out. On the contrary, once we'd finished and paid, they were offering us more tea and seemed upset when we didn't have any! So we obliged and stayed a bit longer! How is that rude service?!

We had a table booked at Souk Medina, but when we got there they said it had been changed to their other restaurant Souk Bazaar, which is the smaller and dingier restaurant which we had specifically not wanted to go to. Earlier on during the day they had confirmed our booking was at the Medina restaurant.

When we eventually got to Souk Bazaar, the table was not ready and we were made to wait half an hour until the people before us left. Once seated, our table for 15 could barely fit 12.

The restaurant was crowded, loud and the tables too close together. The food was terrible, the drinks were warm, the service was slow and the belly dancer stayed for a total of 1 minute. At half twelve, one of the waitresses shouted that they were closing and everyone was made to get up and leave.

I can honestly say I have never been more disappointed. Poor food, poor service, no atmosphere - I think it's safe to say that we will not be going back.

Arriving at Souk, the signs were not promising, our reservation had been 'lost', if indeed it ever made it from phone to paper and the table we were given was so cramped as to just about have enough elbow room to eat.

That said things did get better, we moved to a table for four, which just about accommodated two people and the main courses arrive. The food at Souk Bazaar is, without a doubt very good, the spinach and ricotta was excellent and the meats equally as good. Desert followed and this, whilst minimal, was also pleasing.

All that said nothing can excuse the frankly dire service, forgetting drinks, ignoring customers, loosing reservations and the cramped conditions. Sadly despite the good food I will not be returning to Souk Bazaar.

Souk is absolutely fabulous, went here after a hard day at work with friends and really enjoyed it, I would highly recommend the set menu at £15 as you get a bit of everything, good for veggies too! Good place for a first date too if you're adventurous.
Brilliant!

I went to Souk on a date, we had one of the alcoves to ourselves and were pretty much left to enjoy our meal in privacy. The service was great; very helpful, polite staff and the food was excellent. My date was vegetarian and this was no problem at all, he had plenty of choice and it was all delicious! I would definitely recommend the vodka, lemon and mint drink (not sure what it was called) that was offered, gorgeous! I'd recommend it to anyone, a really great night out.

After booking for 15 we were told we could only have 10 and then were sat in a doorway.
We were served corked wine out of 7 bottles and were presented with our bill of £35 a head (after being told £15)!

Once we had paid we were asked to leave while we were still smoking our shesha and drinking our corked wine because they had other people double-booked.

Will not be returning or suggesting it as a place to eat out.

I have eaten in Souk a number of times for a variety of occasions and have found it unwanting in any area. I would still rate it as the top North African restaurant in London, combining superb food and excellent service with a truly unique layout.

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, but especially a large group of friends looking for a really enjoyable night out. The set menu is a must!
