The ViewLondon Review
The restaurant at Spearmint Rhino is certainly not what you would expect for a club of this nature. The food is extremely tasty, and is well presented with some great flavours and decent sized portions. The VenueThe restaurant at Spearmint Rhino lies at the back of the club, just tucked in behind the line of seating attached to the stage area. It consists of several tables dressed in crisp white linen tablecloths and gleaming silverware. The bar is directly behind, and the staff are extremely attentive and on hand for any drinks orders. You are left to dine at your leisure, which is a refreshing change for restaurants in the busy metropolis of London.
The AtmosphereThe atmosphere in the restaurant at Spearmint Rhino does, of course, depend on the club, which is usually very buzzy and vibrant, at times tending to distract you from the food in front of you. On occasion, due to its location, you will be subjected to the dancers attempting to engage you in conversation, trying to edge themselves onto your seat, or even lap, in between courses. This may be deemed inappropriate by some, or indeed quite intimidating for those somewhat shy and retiring types.
The FoodThe menu is a three course affair and is comparable to a top London restaurant. Prices are reasonable for the quality and the menu consists of a lot of fresh fish, seafood, salads and steaks, which are all exquisitely prepared and equally irresistible. The grills section features various meats such as the Aberdeen Angus Rib Eye, which is tender and succulent. The memorable starters include dishes like whole-tailed king prawns, complimented by a tangy chilli and refreshing lime dressing, which are scrumptiously fulfilling. To finish, there is a great choice of sorbets and ice creams or, if you still have room, then the sticky toffee pudding is a must have treat.
The DrinkA comprehensive choice of champagnes are available, including the celebrity favourite Cristal. There’s also a good selection of white and red wines, all reasonably priced for a London club, along with well stocked bottled beers priced at around £4.
The Last WordThe food is delectable cuisine with noticeable attention to detail on every dish. For a club who could easily rely on the rest of their amenities to entice customers, they have evidently spared no expense to provide quality, which is a word that emanates throughout Spearmint Rhino.
