The ViewLondon Review
Star of India has long been Chelsea’s favourite local curry, but its look little resembles a curry house.
The Venue
The restaurant’s very white upholstery gives it a smart, contemporary look, far from the decor of your typical Indian restaurants.
The Atmosphere
If you live in Chelsea, then you’re no doubt a regular here and are treated like a maharaja. If you’re not a local, however, the service can be offish. Even if the restaurant has become a Chelsea institution, new customers should still be welcomed with open arms.
The Food
The food is little more than glamorised, over-priced standard curry house fare, but the ultra-modern decor jazzes it up a bit. Its perfectly suited to the Chelsea palate, however, and regulars can’t get enough.
The Drink
The wine list is decent for an Indian restaurant, but there are no standout bottles that are particularly interesting.
The Last Word
The restaurant has created a name for itself and is always packed, and a packed restaurant undoubtedly attracts even more customers. Depending on your postcode, it just might be your favourite Indian or it might not rank highly at all.
