I have just eaten at this restaurant and I would describe it as one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had.
Food: absolutely awful, not authentic at all. I ordered the calamari which was thickly battered and may well have been fried several times, it had little flavour and was stringy. I had the vegetable noodles for mains, a dish I thought it would be pretty hard to get wrong. Again horrible. The noodles were watery (how hard is it to drain noodles properly?) and the vegetables were unappetizing. It also came with a random side of lettuce and cucumber salad (yes, really authentic Japanese cuisine...). Also ordered green tea which was a teabag in a pot, again how hard is it to just get some fresh tea leaves? Especially when they charge for green tea which is usually complimentary.
Atmosphere: dire. the decor is horrible and cheap and while I was there there was a group of young guys (staff?) round the back talking and laughing loudly with little awareness of the fact that they were in working in a restaurant and could be heard.
Service: the service was ok I guess, the waiter was quite nice when he wasn't playing on his phone or taking pictures of the snow outside... kind of unprofessional and the waiter was sloppily dressed and in dirty trainers.
Save your money and do not eat at this place! I only really went there because I wanted to support a local business and usually go to well trusted chains. Will not be eating here again.
I love eating out and always on the prowl for new and exciting places to eat. LoveSushi was recommended by a friend and its now on my list of favourite venues.
London is the rest of the world, its here all the cultures come together and we celebrate this. London is not only vibrant but also a very tolerant and open minded city. So, I was horrified to read the racist comments below. If all of us eat Japanese, we should we not be part of it? We must we put people in different boxes? I am not Japanese but I am taking classes to learn to make Sushi, is that so wrong?
Anyway, I was happy with my order which was ready on time. The non Japanese waitress actually gave me a pot of lovely green Tea, on the house.
Happy eating everyone..!
Last Monday (1 February 2010) I had the worst Sushi lunch ever when I was here. I felt lucky not to be ill afterwards!
Unfortunately, there are some lousy Sushi restaurants around, especially in the UK. If they were all like Love Sushi on Haverstock Hill, I'd end up hating Sushi.
It is just plain bad.
I thought I'd take the opportunity, as I was on my own, of indulging my passion for seafood, but it was such a letdown.
For a start the thick Asian, but not Japanese, waitress didn't know what Yellow Tail was, even though it’s very common in Sushi.
As it was, what I was presented with was on-the-turn Yellow Tail, along with lumps of salmon sashimi, prawn gyozas that were rock hard, as if they'd been fried once or twice already. The nigiri seaweed was damp and chewy. The fresh stuff should be light, bone dry and snap when you bite into whatever it envelopes.
Love Sushi is a disgusting, silent, cold and empty place, where they couldn't care less if I liked what I paid for or not.
Be scared. Be very, very scared – or just don’t bother.
The food was delicious and everything looks very nice.
The atmosphere in here is lovely and the waitress were very friendly/
With a 'now open' sign on their window and a brightly lit dining area catching my eyes as I passed along, I decided to pop my head in and grab a takeaway menu. Took my mum there for lunch yesterday in the snowy weather, arriving to be welcomed by a very delightful happy Asian waitress and be seated by the heaters made us cosy enough. We ordered a sushi platter to share, miso soups and salmon teriyaki for both of us. While we waited for the food we were served a pot of green tea on the house.
The food arrived very quickly and to our surprise was cooked fresh, as I could hear the chefs preparing in the basement kitchen. The food lift was a very nicely designed to bring the food directly up from the kitchen into the restaurant area. The salmon teriyaki was the best we had tasted which came with a free wafu salad, the rolls were freshly made with very good quality salmon and creamy avocados. The atmosphere was better than outside, but can be improved with some music and more decor added to the empty walls.
Overall a great performance for a new place and the food was just lovely. See you very soon.
