My partner wanted to treat me for my birthday and he found 64 raving reviews on google. So we booked for tonight at 7pm. Very easy to find and we parked on the single yellow line with no hassle. There is a bus stop in front of the restaurant. On entering the nice inviting atmosphere and warm greeting of the staff. It was not that busy and we were given a table but we requested for a quiet corner romantic and they were so happy to change our table. We had a lovely waitress who was from brazil and had long blond hair, we told her we had travelled around Brazil and she was so happy to talk about the places we had been. She came from the south of brazil. We were also greeted by the manager who came from Ireland and had been with the company since it opened.
So we were here to splash out and it was so reasonable, fresh food, saw the chefs preparing the food, lovely comfortable seating area and great music. So we had to start: non-alcholic / fruit smoothiesdetox smoothie £6.00 a blend of antioxidant-packed ‘superfruits’ including acai, cranberry, blueberry, pomegranate and guarana. Safe sex on the beach £5.00 a tropical blend of fresh pineapple and pomegranate with guava amd passionfruit juices shaken into a sling glass. Then to follow from the sushi bar: samba roll £8.50 (eel and papaya, tobiko, 6pcs)spider roll £12.00(roll with soft shell crab, jalapeno, lettuce, tobiko, chilli mayonnaise, 5pcs)starters from the kitchen: shichimi crispy baby squid, lime £7.00 hiramasa king fish carpaccio, pineapple and vanilla vinaigrette £9.00.
Main Courses from the Kitchen: red snapper fillet, squid ink gnocchi, cucumber and fennel salad, black sesame sauce £22.00 molasses duck breast, sancho pepper and dressed melon £15.00 Side Order from the Kitchen: 2 x cassava chips with shichimi mayo £3.25 each bowl it was soooooooooooo good it was amazing and we are soo going back on sunday to check out the live band. The food is prepared on site, fresh and worth every pen
Totally agree with the reviewer below. I did try the sushi, which I thought was good (to say it is Itsu standard is ridiculous). Far better though were the other dishes we ordered - ribeye grelhado, pork belly and the lobster. I thought that the price, though not cheap, was actually very reasonable for the King's Road. Did not spend any time at the bar downstairs, but ordered some drinks to the table, all of which were delicious (and strong!) Overall, highly recommended.
great food and excellent cocktails. highly recommended!
Based on the last review my boyfriend decided to take me here for our anniversary. Was happy with the initial impression, nice space, nice people, nice drinks menu. Then we moved on to dinner. The food selection was not up to any sushi standard outside of Itsu or Yo! A lot of my regular favorites were missing and the rolls on offer were a bit odd and not very well suited to sushi. We ordered a selection to give it all a try. The Pumpkin Goyza was soggy and not very nice. The tempura vegies were again not very good, and while the sushi quality was fine, we were not impressed with what came to the table. The layout of the dinning foor is also really off and the whole place is missing important finishing touches. Over all it is an ok place with an alright menu, but not what you would expect on the Kings Road and not at the prices they are trying to charge. Roka and Sumosan do it better for a similar price. For this quality you should just go to Itsu.
Walked by here and thought we'd go in for a bit as it seemed very intriguing from the outside. Really cool place. Tried the Pimenta prawns and Pumpkin truffle gyoza for starters. Both crisp and very tasty. My boyfriend ordered the Sushinho sushi platter for us to share. Very good size platter with some interesting Brazilian sushi. The sushinho roll was amazing. We had never had anything like this before but it was excellent -the waitress explained how this was the typical Brazilian sushi roll. The seafood tempura was cooked to perfection. I saw someone eating the lobster dish next to us, will def come back to try it out! Rounded the meal off with a passion brulee. Quite simply one of the best desserts I’ve tried in a long time. The sakerhina cocktail (japanese version of the caperinha) was smooth and went well with the food. Interior is chic, and we loved the chilled Brazilian beats in the background! Left feeling very content after a great meal, and at good value for the area.
