I usually visit Taman Gang restaurant at least once a week for client meetings. The food never fails to impress and the cocktails are great. I love the fact that it transforms into a club at the Weekends and usually stay on to dance the night away. The bar/waiting staff are great but the door staff are a little tough...I've been questioned when returning inside after a quick ciggie on occasion. But I guess they have a job to do and do it well. Thank you Taman Gang for many a memorable evening.
Taman Gang is my regular Saturday night club and I have to say, I can not find another with a better atmosphere. Every week s a different vibe. Just a really great place to party.
Had a really good night. Food was nice, service was great, would go back simply for the chic atmosphere.
Food was ok-ish but really not worth what they charge for it, my desert was a miniscule chocolate pudding which I ate in one and a half spoonfuls just to amuse my girlfriend. Had to wait for quite a while between courses and as we just finished our starters, tables were being moved. Dragged and banged around us, staff sprinting left right and centre by our sides. Etc lets just say this made the dining experience rather unpleasant. Decided to order some cocktails, for the price I was paying I expected to enjoy a well maid cocktail with half decent ingredients but the standard of the drinks is way below average and i'm being generous here. Infact they tasted bad and nothing compared to what you would expect in Mayfair. As we barely finished our desserts, our table was swapped for a little table, I ordered more cocktails as I was waiting for some friends to join in later where we planned to get into some champagne and celebrate the night away, but as I walked back from the bar to re-join my girlfriend I was told to move as the spot where I've been sat for the last one and half hour was booked. Seeing as I just paid a bill of over £200 in that same spot minutes before and barely finished my meal I wanted a little bit more courtesy especially as I was merely waiting for the rest of the party to arrive and we had another reserved spot in my friends name for later. I put the full drinks down on the table, left them there, grabbed my girlfriend by the hand and walked out. On the way out, the door staff asked me "are you coming back sir?" to which I replied "never again". Luckily I managed to save the night and got hold of my other party in time, and with a few contacts here and there got us all in somewhere else bigger and better so they joined me in there instead of Taman Gang, albeit we couldn't get a table last minute, we took over a little corner in the bar with our bottles and had a good time.
The staff were bitchy, judgemental and just generally rude. I got there at 10.20 with a group of 6 girl friends. We were all dressed up in the right kind of dress code. However we were forced to queue up for 45 mins- despite being at the front of the queue. Eventually at 11.15 they asked to see our id and we presented it to them, but they claimed the 'photos didn't look enough like 2 of my friends' which was not true. The only reason it didn't look like my friend was because the passport picture was taken a while ago. Anyways they proposed that we could enter if we all paid £10 because apparently we look a bit too young. After much deliberation a bitchy woman at the front eventually decided that weren't under any circumstances allowed to come. We were furious. Well f*** them!
In my experience, we were very welcome even when another of my friend joined in late, no one paid to get in, great decor, pleasant place but really, that's about it. Drinks are horrid and expensive (barmen couldn't even do some cocktails that were not on the list?!), music was common, sound system is bad, crowd... average. They want to compete with Buddhar Bar but they should stick to the restaurant side of the business.
I have had two contrasting experiences at this club. The first I got in free and loved the candles and flowers on entrance. Dance floor was cramped, music too loud, prententious teenagers and pervy rich men. HOWEVER made the most of the night and ended up having a fun time, mostly due to the fact me and a friend were invited to stay for the after party and were (I admit) very tipsy, which always tends to make a bad club look good.
I returned two weeks later and was refused entry by an ugly blonde woman. Just as the bouncers were letting me in she put her arm out to stop them. It was completely random. When I asked her why she claimed we looked too young, although we had all shown valid I'd and I am positive that my friends do not appear underage. I can't speak for myself, but everyone of the girls I was with were very attractive and have never had to suffer humiliation like that at the door of a club before. The best thing Taman can do is fire that woman! I will NEVER return and ensure noone I know bothers either.
I wasted last night at the club. first, we were told that was the official holiday of Ireland Brazil match, but it was all a lie. He had very bad organization in the lobby with a girl who judges your face and the price of your clothes. It appears that without wearing something cool you can not get through the door. Anyway I have seen many girls wearing Primark. There were plenty of cheap looking girls everywhere. It seemed that everyone there was rich, but it was far from reality.
We were in the guest list but still we paid about £20 each. Well, that's ok if the club is good, but not the case. I work in a club near the club and a supposedly equal level, but these people steal! They offer nothing and charge exorbitant prices. Two beers and a small glass of wine £25! The music, horrible, too high to make it sound bad. You could not hear, because a guy kept talking, I think that trying to sing. Then I saw a bartender with a hat, when the dress code prohibits hats. But when I thought it could not be worse, I saw a security man making a cocktail, but not all. He served after 6 shots and drank in the bar with all the bartenders. The bartenders wore T-shirts. that low class! The bar was plastic! that's worse! The location was not very clean and was a bit worn. To conclude, I do not understand how a place that works that way may have more than 10 people. I took a glass of champagne and leave the premises within 50 minutes, the worst club I have seen in London
