Love the food at this place. Very reasonably priced too. And great location.
I don't know what these other people are on about because frankly this joint is great.
Amazing choices of hot and cold tapas, reasonably priced, and at perfect portions if you make sure you share everything. Try the Ham Croquettes! They're brill.
Delicious food, great surroundings, bustling restaurant with friendly staff. All round goodness!
I arrived at 7:30 pm on a Friday (they don't take reservations), we where seated at 9:20. Luckily my dining partner ran a bit late so I was happy to go to the pub across the road which lead to a few glasses of wine & some awesome wasabi nuts (the culinary highlight of the evening). We didn't go anywhere else due to the lack of options in the area. So after more than 90min of wait we where finally seated.
We chose because for a very long time I would walk, jog pass, visit the market and think, ah it looks such a busy and lovely place... Surely it must be a great. Well its not.
The staff was friendly enough, as helpful as staff in a very busy restaurant can be. The average red wine on the menu was about £20 so not really a easy going, relaxed, table wine kinda place.
We ordered 4 tapas & bread between two and was hungry after. I started with lame dry bread and ended with highly overpriced tiny portion cheese. In between we were treated to black rice and calamari was 3 rings of dry, battered calamari on a pile of soggy black rice. Half a bowl full of tiny steamed mussels in a very salty white wine and fresh herbs broth. Some chorizo, potato and pepper omelette with allioli without any chirizo served very chilled and dry. The only tasty part of the evening (aside from the wasabi nuts) was the Iberian ham croquettes. Tasty.
We where still hungry so after the food we decided to opt for the 'Selection of regional Spanish cheeses with toast £ 13.75'. Now don't get me wrong. I am not a whole chicken swallowing, rugby playing giant. I am a average girl with an healthy appetite but seriously. Why the frikkin tiny portions. If you would charge less I would be less annoyed.
In total the evening cost us £73. We shared a bottle of table wine, had 4 tapas dishes and a cheese platter and was charged £1 for a glass of tap water.
A wanky over rated restaurant. Due to to its location its perhaps a 'foodie' experience but in my opinion I'd rather opt for a Nando
Have been wanting to go to Tapas Brindisa for a long time and often buy ham, chorizo and their delicious chorizo rolls from the market shop at the weekend. You can't book a table, turning up at 7pm the restaurant was super busy and we were told it was an hour and a half wait for a table so put our name down and went and had a quick drink across the rd and managed to get a table straight away upon our return 45min later. We had 6 dishes between two us which we struggled to finish. Each dish was fantastic with the steak being the highlight! They also have a huge selection of wine to choose from. The service was also great, the head waiter remembered my name the whole night from when I requested the table earlier and they were quick to take our orders and fill up wine etc during the meal. Will definitely be back as there were too many tasty dishes to choose from so lots more to try!
9 times out of 10 I can't get in to this place as you can't book ahead, and breakfast ends noon,
my hangovers mean I miss out, but after returning from the gym today, we though why not stop by and see, for once there was a space, and the tapas!
The favours! If only I could get peppers tasting this good, especially stuffed with black rice!
we had 4 tapas, swordfish, mackerel, squid, and pawns. oh the perfect lunch, if only every day!
I liked Tapas Brindisa enough when it was just a lovely market shop, now that it serves food on the premises too I barely leave the place! I’m a big fan of tapas and Tapas Brindisa ticks all the right boxes, well worth a visit!
