Tartine is one of those great restaurants where you feel really relaxed as soon as you walk in. The fact that it's small is an asset.

The bar is the first thing you come to as you walk through the door, service is very attentive. You can normally be seated within 20 minutes - just enough time to have a drink and take in the surroundings.

Unfortunately I have only ever been there with first dates so have been unable to sample the fine looking men who frequent the bar. It's fair to say that the beautiful people like to come here. I don't know what it is about the place but the men are always so well dressed, they may have gone in the wrong door (as Daphne's is right next door) but everyone appears to make an effort to look good.

Sorry, where was I...the food...Tartine is a type of bread and basically they put it with everything on the menu (hence the name, simple huh?)...I have had the tartine club which is fantastic, not to mention the duck...there is a great choice. You also get a little salad with their really yummy dressing before the main meal (saves deciding on a starter!)

Wine is at a reasonable price and the chips are great (although they did run out of mayo but found me some in the end!). Didn't think much of the selection of puddings though...

Lots of friendly Australian staff with a few 'proper English' to appease the sloanes. So much busier than it used to be, don't think you can book either so don't turn up too late! Really recommend it for a first date (although the eye candy can be a bit off putting for those of you not blessed with good looks). In short, I love it plus I'm a regular so you might see me in there (lucky you!).
