Hi discerning diners, My wife and I, a trendy mature couple (so we like to think) +50s from Brighton, recently visited a hotel nearby Tower bridge in London for the week-end and decided we wanted to find a really nice cafe with homemade food for Breakfast within walking distant. We did not want to be ripped off with an expensive hotel breakfast or be disappointed with a down market pub type breakfast. Very few of the cafes we found around Tower Bridge area were actually not open on either Saturday or Sunday morning
With this in mind we explored the Internet on our iPhone and found this wonderful treasure of a fab cafe down by the river. This place is hidden around the back streets in Shad Thames running parallel to the river and not really obviously to the normal tourist. It does pay to map your route carefully as it would be really easy to get lost. The exclusivity I must admit was part of Teapod’s charm without doubt!
We arrived to a very friendly welcome from two young international English speaking ladies who were quietly efficient throughout. Despite the place being quite small and cosy everything seemed clean and organised.
We choose our food and drinks, paid in advance and sat down to read the complimentary Sunday papers with free wifi. This allowed us to plan our day on the iPhone. Despite them being known for their fresh tea we did not even try that.
After about 2/3 minutes our freshly made Coffees arrived followed by within 5/6 minutes our delicious freshly cooked piping hot food.
We had Artisan bread, (brown wholemeal with seeds etc) along with loads of perfectly cooked bacon and scrambled egg to die for!
I was extremely naughty much to my wife's disgust and ordered the homemade white chocolate and Raspberry Brownie which I asked the ladies to warm. Wow wow to die for! What can I say with any guys with a sweet tooth this is a must! I promise you, you will not be disappointed.
The overall visit this Sunday morning was exceptional, not too expensive,
