Arrived with a party of three to be told there were no seats available as there was "a family waiting". This while the restaurant was half empty. We were fine with a wait by the bar but before ordering were barked at incomprehensibly by the maitre d. Something along the lines of you can now be seated. Five minutes of loitering awkwardly near the front desk later I asked her what was happening only to be bizarrely shouted at again - essentially that I had only been waiting a short time so should pipe down. To this I said we'll be leaving now, you've lost our business. But not before I explained what had happened to the disinterested manageress.

Shockingly rude.

I cannot comment on the food because we did not stick around to be gastronomically as well as verbally abused. We went elsewhere and racked up a large drinks and food tab that Texas Embassy lost out on.

I visitied the Texas Embassy for a friend's birthday. The food was just awful. I ordered a combination of three types of enchilada (beef, chicken and cheese). The cheese looked real on top but underneath was that fake cheese sauce. Normally I like fake cheese sauce, but this wasn't good! The wraps were soggy and it came with awful refried beans. The portions weren't very big either (but this was good considering the standard of food!)

Don't bother going to this restaurant. Service was fine, no atmosphere and the food is overpriced.

The Texas Embassy, is a great American temed restaurant in central London. It has great steaks and beer and the service is always attentive but not pushy.

I really enjoy the Texas Embassy, the busy hustle of the restaurant and loud country crooning always makes the place a great night. I admit that I always eat the same thing, not for lack of choice but because it's just too darn good and I have NEVER seen it on a menu somewhere else! It's the Sourthern Fried Steak with the best mash potatos and a margarita. My husband has had the steaks and ribs on different occasions and has always cleared his plate (even before I can steal a bite.) We always do a round of margaritas, peach and fozen for me, on the rocks for him and beer, LONE STAR. I can never say no to a piece of pecan pie and I have to say it's even harder here. The service is always great and our regular servers always stop by to say hi and to make sure our meal is up to scratch - which is always is - I can say it is always a great night out!

I went to the Texas Embassy yesterday and was pleasently suprised. I thought it would be a tourist trap for Americans in the West End, but instead I found a great central London restaurant with large steaks and beer at a resonable price. What a great find.

The Texas Embassy is what it says on the can...a loud brash American Joint with great Tex-Mex food, margaritas and the game on at the bar. I LOVE it.

This is my boyfriend's favourite place in London. As an American southerner he craves fajitas and gucamole all the time. We come in every couple of weeks and love it. The service is always American standard and the food is great not to mention the frozen strawberry margaritas (for me not him!). Always a great night!

The Texas Emabssy is one of the best pre-night out dinners my friends and I have had in a while. The food and drinks were excellent and the live music upstairs just topped it out. We're already going again Saturday night!

We brought our grandchildren to the Texas Embassy the other day for lunch. They had a great lunch menu and an even better children's menu. The kids were so happy with their choices my granddaughter almost couldn't decide. She had the hot dog and our grandson had a taco. I had a fajita salad which was great and my husband had the fajitas. I recommend the Texas Embassy as a great family restaurant.

I ate at the Texas Embassy the other day for a friend's birthday. We went early in the evening for happy hour drinks and some tortilla chips and salsa at the bar while we waited for the rest of the party. Once the whole partied arrived we moved to a great round table and had a good meal. Our server was attentive, charming and attractive (if I was much younger). We didn't have starters as we'd been snacking at the bar, but for dinner I had the fajitas and they came out sizzling as promised, some of the other had steaks which looked great and I'm definitely going back for the ribs my friend had! In the end it was desserts all round with a cake and singing to top it all off. All in all a great night out!

Been to the Texas Embassy quite a few times and have never had a bad meal, always delicious. The atmosphere is great and the live music they have on Fridays and Saturdays makes the upstairs bar perfect for a relaxing weekend drink.

I was very disappointed with the place, we went on a Monday evening, its was moderately full but not rammed.

The service was terrible - it took them 35 minutes to serve all our drinks. Apparently they were having problems with the ice in the Margaretas, but diet coke was a challenge for them as well. I understand that equipment breaks down - but a waiter could have come over and told us why we were waiting or offered an alternative. We just got a surly "Its coming", like it was our fault and we were being rude for wondering where our drinks were.

In general the service was bad

Food took about 1 hour to arrive and was dissiapointing, everything was very expensive even for London - £16 for chicken fajitas - most Mexican restaurants I've been too, would charge about £10. The food was not good - the chicken was dry over cooked and bland, even the cheese had been left out in the heat to go plastic. On the Stake dish they served rancid tomatoes

We sent back their £11 inedible "chicken salad" - dry over cooked chicken on a bed of tasteless leaves. They still tried to charge us for this the waiter was shocked when when we refused to pay for food we had not eaten

Generally the food was the worst Mexican any of us had had and also the most expensive.

We didn't stay for dessert. It took 30 minutes to pay since their waiting staff didn't seem to be able to work the credit card machine - It took 10 attempts

So in general really ready bad service, food that treads the line between tasteless and inedible. Cost £95 for 4 people rip off

We weren't the only people having a bad time that night. I saw one family walk off without eating, I guess the wait was too much and another guy got his cutlery at least 5 mins after his food.

Avoid

I work near the Texas Embassy and I go in for a beer and steak every couple of weeks. They've recently installed a TV in the downstairs bar so now I can sit at the bar and watch the game and the bartenders are always up for a bit of banter (as the locals say). The services is great.

Why the horrible reviews? I'm an American that has been living in London for years and I love the Texas Embassy! I go in all the time be it for dinner with friends (I love the chimichangas and southern fried steak) or Happy Hour for margaritas and queso with homemade chips - they even have live music on the week ends. The service is always decent and friendly It's my home away from home...

The worst restaurant I have ever been to!!!! A waitress that didn't know what time of day it was. We waited over one hour for drinks, before I went up to the bar and just ordered them myself. We asked the waitress where our food and drinks were and her response was that "you have not been waiting that long," (this is after 1.5 hours)... To top off the atrocious service, after waiting over two hours, we were told that the kitchen was closed and would not receive any food... Pathetic. With service of this standard I don't know how long they will survive and stay open. One for "Ramseys, Kitchen Nightmares"..... I rate this place a 0.000001 out of 10.Please, please do not waste your time and money...

I ate at Texas Embassy Cantina during the day. Service was not overly fast but was friendly and attentive.

The food at Texas Embassy Cantina was a good example of its type, and although not strictly Mexican the apple pie was probably the best I have ever had in a restaurant, and a whacking slice of it as well.

I wish I could agree with your review. My experience was very poor. After waiting over 50 minutes for the food, one plate arrived cold, and one plate with a steak barely cooked. After such a wait, we asked the waitress to cancel the order, which she was allowed to do. The manager didn't have the grace to come by and apologize, he only sent the waitress back to the table. The atmosphere was nice, and it's possible they had a bad night, but I won't be returning to find out.

Avoid this place like the plague. I wouldn't eat here again if someone paid me to go.

Saying that, I am using the term "eat" loosely, as we were never given a meal after waiting nearly 3 hours, only to be told by our very inexperienced and extremely unhelpful waitress that the kitchen was closed. Our group was furious and demanded to speak to the manager who was equally inept at his job. How a riot wasn't started due to the amount of distressed (and rightly so) customers is beyond me. The only consolation we were given was a free beer for our troubles. Never mind the fact that we ended up having to go to McDonald's afterwards as it was the only establishment nearby that was still serving food!

Absolutely shocking. I will be telling all of my friends to steer clear of the place and to visit Crazy Homies in Nottinghill if they are looking for good Mexican in London. At least if you have to wait a long time for your food there you can sip on their potent, tasty margaritas.
