We live in the neighbourhood, so we've had the opportunity to eat here at least once a week since they opened in July. First, I have to say the service is excellent. They really pay attention to the customer and make an effort to give you a top notch dining experience which matches the quality of the food you are served. I suggest calling ahead to guarantee a table, as they do tend to get busy during peak dining hours.

The good news is, if you have to wait for a table, they do have a fully stocked bar. We tend to go straight to the wine list as they have an excellent selection of wines to suit all budgets and tastes. What I really like about this place is that they are flexible, serving many wines by the half bottle or glass. (I wish more restaurants would do this!) They also have filtered still or sparkling water available by the pitcher, which is also rather unique.

For food, I have to say that my favourite starter (so far) has been the "Polenta with Girolles" which was delicious. It is not on the menu every day, so when it is not on, we usually get the "Empanadas with Chorizo and clams (or another fish depending on the catch of the day)" and another of the eclectic starters that the chef whips up on a daily basis.

For mains, we've had the beef ribs on at least three occasions and have not been disappointed. It is a huge portion (for 2 people) and is served with an excellent bernaise sauce and chips. If you go for this, I recommend the green salad as well. The portion size varies on a daily basis and is priced accordingly. However, it is a popular dish, and you often have to call ahead to reserve it because it sells out every night.

We have also had the grouse (excellent!) as well as the funnily named "Essex Bird" and several of the fish dishes which were definitely good, but not my favourite as I tend to go back for the roast ribs of beef every time now.
