I've actually been to this pub a few times over the years for friends gettogethers. The food has sometimes been great and other times not so great, there's been a noticeable improvement in the last few visits though. I'm guessing some people have had a bad experience but my experiences have always been pretty good.

The beer garden is great in the middle of primrose hill, lovely to sit outside and enjoy a Pimms in the sun! I also love the authentic pub atmosphere and outlook but knowing you're going to get better food than you would in most.

I'll be back that's for sure.

Oh no, Alex_Dong! The barmaid was eastern European! How completely relevant that information is. Because if there's one thing worse than a good old fashioned obnoxious English barmaid pouring scorn on you before charging 9.90 for a pint and glass of house wine, it's an obnoxious eastern European barmaid pouring scorn on you before charging 9.90 for a pint and glass of house wine. Pointless fixation on nationality = 70% chance of a skewed view of human behaviour = 90% chance of an inability to successfully identify instances of scorn pouring.

I'd happily pay for an expensive, obnoxious eastern european barmaid to pour anything over me for 9.90. But maybe that's just my thing.

Horrible pub, horrible staff - avoid!! After waiting over 45mins for our sunday roast a plate full of cold hard veg, stringy meat and burnt yorkshire pudding landed in front of each of us.

We gave it a go, but it was so awful we called over the waitress and politely flagged that the meal really wasn’t up to standard.

Her reaction was to get the hump, then offer to “reheat it again,” and when we just asked if we could have our money back as the food really wasn’t edible then tell us that we’d eaten too much (a couple of mouthfuls??) to be able to send it back and refused to give us our money back.

Shocked at her bad attitude we asked to speak to the manager - the barmaid yelled at us over the bar that the manager couldn’t be asked to come down and had given her permission to deal with the situation and that we were being rude to her.

Way to go to keep customers coming back and happy. I will NEVER visit that establishment ever again and would suggest that if you want a decent meal and nice friendly bar staff this is NOT the place to go.

The Albert is a good old fashioned unpretentious pub that welcomes dogs with open arms. Literally. We walked in and four legged Jake was the centre of attention for the trendy local folk who were quietly enjoying a pint on a Sunday evening. That was Jake's first outing to a pub and I'm worried that his future pub experiences will fail to live up to his now very high expectations.

Seriously though, nice pub, nice crowd, lovely staff - downright perfect.

The Albert is a really lovely pub with a great garden and a friendly atmosphere. There is an open fire and they run a quiz on Tuesday evenings during the winter. The food is home-made and really nice, not too expensive either. A pleasant and relaxed, child-friendly victorian boozer!
